Avengers slash panel brainstorming
This was previously posted on my own LJ, so if you're seeing it again and have nothing to say, just go ahead and skim on by. :-)
I go to MediaWest*Con every year, and this year I both suggested and offered to run a panel. Why? Because I wanted a chance to chat about my newest fandom at the con! The title and topic of the panel are: "Avengers (Marvel Comics): Discuss favorite pairings and teams through the years (/)"
I picked the topic because I'm not really into DC, so I didn't want to go for general comics slash, but I knew if I just said "Marvel" that the X-Men people would totally overwhelm the panel. I figure damn near everyone in the Marvel Universe has been an Avenger at some point, so that makes it flexible. *g*
Still waiting for me to get to the point of this post? *g* Here it is: I've run panels before, but only for a much smaller con (BASCon), and I want to be a lot better prepared this time. Thus, I ask for help!
My current plan is to use Wikipedia's Avengers membership roster to create a big giant list of everyone who's ever been an Avenger and bring that with me, not as a "only talk about these people" thing, but as a "stuck? what about so-and-so? who would you slash them with?" thing. I also know that it helps get a panel going if you have some sort of audience participation bit at the beginning. I also want to have a bunch of potential pairings and slashy moments in hand to use to prompt things, if necessary.
Here are a few things I could use your help with...
1. What are some pairings I could use to prompt? Currently I have Steve/Tony, Beast/Wonder Man, and Tony/Thor in mind, but I could use a whole bunch more. ETA: Also, I totally need femslash pairing ideas. My brain doesn't (usually) see them, but there are tons of kick ass women in comics and not enough femslash panels at cons in general.
2. What are some slashy moments for said pairings? I have lots for Steve/Tony, of course, and a handful for the other two I mentioned.
3. What would be a fun audience participation thing to do to kick things off? I've thought of going around and getting everyone's favorite Avenger, but I'm a bit afraid that could lead to wank, given the current climate. Going around to get everyone's favorite pairing is a bit boring and may stump people who just came to listen about pairings. I need more ideas!
4. If you went to an Avengers slash panel, what would you be most interested in talking about?
5. Anything else that springs to mind that you want to mention.
And hey...are any of you folks going to be there?

At one point in Cable/Deadpool, you get to see Deadpool's secret inner fantasies, which turn out to consist of rubbing sunblock all over Cable's mostly-naked body.

My favourite part in that scene was how Cable in real life is wearing briefs, but in the daydream he's definitely wearing a speedo.
The thing with Luke and Danny and all of them ending up on top of each other because of the 'darkest desire' thing was something special.

Thankee for the details on Moondragon. I hardly know her character at all; she wasn't an Avenger for long.
And wow, The Sentry/Void sounds like an awesome topic for discussion! I'll have to read the ship manifesto so that I have a bit of background on them, in case folks want to get into that during the panel. *bookmarks*

I'll just repost my earlier reply, if that's okay.
Valkyrie/Storm. Just because it would be awesome. And I agree with Carol generally being good for femslash. And Karma, from the X-Men, is a lesbian.
And hey, I'll sponsor T'Challa/Tony for the hell of it
despite the fact that it's a disaster waiting to happen, because the thing with the Red Zone incident amused me way too much.TONY: Sometimes I break the rules. I take a risk.
T'CHALLA: Risk? When have you ever taken a risk?
[later, Tony poisons himself on purpose to save Steve]
T'CHALLA: ...Oh.
TONY: Business deal?
T'CHALLA: I approve of this!
[handshake]
[BEST FRIENDS!]
BEST FRIENDS EVER (http://pics.livejournal.com/fire_tears/pic/0001kffa). And now that I read it again, that dialogue is pretty hilarious when taken out of context.
"I hope this is more than just business."
"It is."
Oh, I bet it is.
...
I'm done now.
And Thor/Tony is my favourite non-romantic pairing ever. Warrior bonding sex ftw!
Steve is upset that Tony is missing. Thor is more upset, and has to be restrained from bashing Spiderman's head in with Mjolnir for not immediately telling them about Tony being kidnapped (http://pics.livejournal.com/fire_tears/pic/0001h5dt).
Oh, and it had better be Thor saying "Avengers—Awaaay!" because if it's Steve, I definitely just lost about sixty points of respect for him.
Re: I'll just repost my earlier reply, if that's okay.
I shall have to wiki Valkyrie and Karma. Valkyrie appeared briefly in the Avengers, but only for about one issue, and I've never heard about Karma. But they sound like prime material. :-)

*laughs* I had totally forgotten about that scan with the business deal and the "more than business". *chortles* But wow, disaster waiting to happen is exactly right. They just aren't compatible on too many levels. O.o And yet I'm having a hard time articulating why at the moment. There's something about Tony being too fallible and T'Challa being too unforgiving floating around in my brain, but it won't gel.
TONY: Sometimes I break the rules. I take a risk.
T'CHALLA: Risk? When have you ever taken a risk?
ALENA: ...You have to be shitting me. (Seriously, that was my reaction to that panel)
No kidding. Even if T'Challa didn't know that Tony is Iron Man, he's an incredibly successful businessman. Risk--both personal (if not physical) and financial--is an absolute necessity in order to achieve that.
And Thor/Tony is my favourite non-romantic pairing ever. Warrior bonding sex ftw!
They have awesome non-romantic slashiness. *g* Okay, so lots of people would go for the romantic slashiness, I still think they do even better as warrior bedmates. :-) :-) And my brain would so make me write Thor/Tony going to Steve/Tony with Thor bringing them together if I didn't have so many other bunnies to write!
I'd managed to forget about that panel where Thor is about ready to kill Spider-Man for holding out on them about Tony. *g*
Oh, hey, somewhat off topic, but do you remember the pocket-universe Thor? Volume 2 Thor, I believe. He seriously has something going on with Mjolnir. It's twisted.
