Finally here—all the recs you’ve shared with us during the 2017 Rec Week, and there’s so many of them: fics, art, and fanvids! Enjoy browsing the list :) Please mind the warnings at every individual fanwork page.

Note: some of the recs may be repeated, as different people linked them for different themes and with different comments. As catching all of the repetitions was impossible (there are over 40 pages of recs here!) we decided to leave all the recs without editing anything.

Summary: Relationships don’t stop at the altar.
Comment: A great look at 3490 Steve/Natasha – I love how Natasha is written here, and the relationship feels very strong and very real.

Summary: "So was I," his soulmate would tell him one day, and what it would mean was that they loved him.
Comment: A heart-breaking MCU soulmates story. 

Minutes to Midnight by Woad (616)
Summary: The Illuminati wipe Tony's memories instead of Steve's.
Comment: So this is the story I got as a gift in the last holiday exchange, and I love it so much. There’s so much angst and all the feels and I just can’t!!! *flails about it*

I Promise You, When I'm Awake by navaan (616)
Summary: Steve thinks he's crushing the resistance and the copy of himself that Tony left behind. But comatose or not - Tony might not be finished with this world.
Comment: This is deliciously evil. And it has a BAMF Tony.

Comment: many, many awesome MCU manips that you need to see.

Caesura by Ylixia (MCU, Teen, Complete)
Summary: Tony's gotten maybe twelve hours of sleep in the past four days, and he's been carrying the deaths of everyone that matters to him like a rock in his gut. 
Comment: So good. It’s a great fic, short look into a moment during the farm scene from Age of Ultron and definitely something I 100% headcanon. Also sharing a bed.

Not Anyone's Shade by kaesaria (MCU, Mature, WIP)
Summary: Tony had fought, at first. Now he just waits.
Comment: This one introduced me to kaesaria’s writing which is all really good! It was for one of the art for the TRB and so much Tony feels. Takes place after Civil War and is like a what-if.

A Certain Kind of Comfort by Comicsohwhyohwhy, laireshi (616, Teen, Complete)
Summary:  “Do you want to sit?” Steve indicates the sofa, but Tony doesn’t want to sit, he’s almost shaking with nervous energy.And he can’t hold it in any longer.
 "Steve—nothing's right, it's my fault, I—"
"Is that it?” Steve looks considering. His expression changes, too fast for Tony to identify, and then he looks calm as ever—calm and cold. “Is that what you came here to tell me?”
Comment: SO DELICIOUSLY SAD AND ANGSTY and oh gosh, the Steve in this fic completely destroys me. The way he acts is so chilling and oh man, my heart aches for Tony.

Love and trust by laireshi (616, Mature, Complete)
Summary: Tony's always known Steve loving him was too good to be true.
Comment: Laire’s fics always make me cry but especially stories that explore Civil War II/Secret Empire. Honestly some of my favorite. This one is particularly heartbreaking. 

Iconoclasts by Woad (616, Mature, Complete)
Summary: Tony has seen Steve bleed out on sandstone steps before. He's watched the footage of the courthouse shooting hundreds of times. And there is no way in hell that he's going to let Steve die on his watch again.
Comment: Also another fic that takes place during Civil War II and oh my god, the ending just crushes you. Uh, it’s not a happy ending but oh god, Tony would do anything for Steve and that just breaks my heart. 

Adaptive Immunity by captainshellhead, vibraniumstark (616, Gen, Complete)
Summary: Tony programs Extremis to act as his immune system, and it works a little too well.
Comment: THIS FIC IS SO WELL WRITTEN AND HONESTLY VERY HILARIOUS??? It’s what happens if you program an immune system and I must say, it made me chuckle a lot. My favourite line from this fic has to be “You’ve given yourself an autoimmune disorder” which in the context of Tony Stark is....so him. :P The science nerd inside me is very happy reading this.

i'll swim through the earth (la douleur exquise) by oldglory (MCU, Mature, Warnings: Er there’s a lot - please refer to the warnings in the fic, WIP) 
Summary:  Following the final confrontation in Siberia, Tony's days are filled with a strange numbness. He wonders, between drinks, what it's like: to be loved by Steve Rogers above all else.
The universe decides to answer him, for once.
Tony learns to be careful what you wish for.
Comment: Incomplete fic and ends at such a cliffhanger part so uh. :P But I re-read Chapter 1 fairly frequently over and over again because it’s so good; it’s Tony fresh out of MCU Civil War and meeting an alternate version of Steve. Who cares A LOT about him. Lots of delicious angst? Poor Tony in this fic though. 

Time and Again by Jaylee (616, Teen, Complete)
Summary:  If history shaped and molded a person, what was a person without it? Two histories had been created for him, for all of them, one he’d lived in for years, the other only the past year. He certainly preferred the former over the latter, yet he had no actual ownership over either.
The world is in ruin and the only option is to go back and start again from the beginning.

How two people fall in love with each other twice (without remembering the first time).
Comment: Fix-it for Secret Empire and SO GOOD. Like...the way the story is weaved and how it ties back the idea of leading different lives, different stories - being reborn. I can’t give it a comment that gives it justice, but it’s a beautiful fic that has really touched me and makes me weep because of how GOOD it is.

When I Have Fears by lastdream (616, Teen, Complete)
Summary: Tony Stark has made a lot of intelligent programming in his time, but none of that experience is quite like making an AI version of himself.
Comment: If anyone knows me, lastdream’s works are what I live for. :P This one in particular is a heartbreaking story of Tony Stark programming. Yes. All he does is program but it is SO SAD AND GOOD.

Give Me What You Left Behind and Remake the World with Me by navaan (616, Teen, Complete)
Summary: Tony lies in a comatose state when Steve tells him a truth he can never be allowed to know. Steve’s plan had been to keep the man in an unbalanced state until it was too late until he could show him the new world he would create and now he’s robbed of the chance. But Tony’s AI is around. Now… Now he may have the perfect and final chance to make Tony stand with him, even if he won’t ever have what he really wants.
Comment: I love this fic and all the delicious angst and potential it holds. The idea of Hydra!Steve wanting to keep all versions of Tony to himself and won’t stop until he belongs to him is. ;) Very satisfying. A great read!

Bring Him Home by seventymilestobabylon (MCU, Explicit)
Summary: Tony misses Steve very badly after the Accords. Some days he deals with it better than other days.
Comment: One of my favorite post-CA:CW fics. This fic is too much. Steve pines away like there's no tomorrow, which is exactly up my alley.

The People Who Would Keep Us on Our Knees by Sineala (616, Teen And Up Audiences)
Summary: Tony wakes from his coma and finds a very different world than the one he remembers. Steve's in charge now. And Steve has missed him.

The Right Thing by Sineala (616, Teen And Up Audiences)
Summary: Today is a very important anniversary for Steve and Tony, and the fact that Tony's currently comatose isn't going to stop Steve from celebrating it.

Comment: Sineala's Hydra!Cap fics are just great. I love the insight we get into his mind and it's beyond interesting to read about how transparent he is regarding his feelings for Tony.

A 616 story that manages to be both incredibly hot and absolutely adorable. Established relationship, where Steve decides that he can out-seduce Tony Stark.

Steve and the Starkosaurus by veldeia
Mcu pure fluff. Tony gets turned into a cute velociraptor and Steve cuddles with him.

Never Eye to Eye by vorkosigan
mcu post-CW fix it and one of my favourite fix it ever, in the mcu civil war drama. The Avengers are back together, Steve and Tony are not kind with each others (quite the opposite), until they are.

Mixed/not clear universe (maybe mcu?). Accidental (not so much) marriage. This is actually a WIP, but I just found out as I honestly read the first chapter as a oneshot, so I am actually ecstatic!

Multiverse SteveTony by FirenstoneThis video is AMAZING, it's done masterfully and it blends together so many different universes, from 616 to Heroes United, mcu and everything you can think of!

Another multiverse video, and once again, the scenes from different universe are blended so well! This is actually two videos in one.

To See What Lies Beyond by Veldeia (Marvel Noir)
Summary: Afraid that his declining health will soon put an end to his adventuring days, Tony convinces his friends to join him on the ultimate challenge: climbing Mount Everest. As well-prepared as the 1952 Stark-Rogers expedition is, there are many twists and turns on the way towards the summit that take them by surprise. Is there another team on the mountain? Are Bucky Barnes and his friend, Natasha Romanova, entirely truthful about their story? Not to mention the Yeti, and the lost city of Haven, which could hold the key to fixing Tony's heart for once and for all—if he can survive the journey.

Comment: This is such a creative, well-written story and the characterization is spot on.

Fix You by thegraytigress (MCU)
Summary: The awful script, the play by play and scene by scene… Tony isn't going to let it happen this time. He isn't going to let Steve leave again. He can fix this. They can talk and not fight. He'll have to find a way to make that happen because this has to stop. It has to. He has to make Steve better again.

Comment: This is written in the post-Winter Soldier world and ends up touching on some of the interpersonal conflict in the CW movie. Some absolutely gorgeous characterization to be found here.

An Unbroken Heart by laireshi (Marvel 616)
Summary: They aren’t friends, not anymore. But Steve still loves Tony with all his heart, and Tony still risks his own life to save Steve.

Down to Zero by Sineala (Marvel 616)
Summary: After a battle against the Controller goes awry, Steve is bewildered and guilt-ridden when Tony begins to treat him exactly the same as he treats everyone else.

Honor, Honesty, Valor and Loyalty by magicasen (Marvel 616)
Summary: When Steve tries to break Tony out of Morgan le Fay's mind-control by waking him up, he doesn't expect Tony to kiss him. He also doesn't mean to kiss him back.

Comment: I love this so much. The original Armor Wars don’t get explored much in fic and this gave me all the Armor Wars feels that I had never gotten before.

Comment: I love all of garridebs videos, but this was the one she made for the 10 years anniversary of The Confession this year and it is just so good. The choice of song for the moment of that particular comic issue is just so sad and perfect.

Comment: EMH fic doesn’t happen too often anymore and this was really good! So much delicious post-Purple Man Tony angst - it’s a delight!

Summary: Steve Rogers may or may not have just picked up a prostitute. This may or may not be Tony Stark’s fault. In essence, Bucky proposes a bet, Steve is too honorable to ditch a guy just because he has a night job, and damn it, Tony, Rhodey is not the one who started this.
Comment: I already gave this fic a shout-out when I posted @hellogarbagetime​‘s lovely fanart, but it deserves another one, because this fic is just so amazing - the pining is gorgeous and kept tugging at my heartstrings, and how Steve and Tony connected from the very beginning is so beautiful to read about.

This Is Why We Fightby MemoryDragon 
Summary: Steve confesses his love to Iron Man but gets rejected because of Iron Man’s loyalty to Tony Stark. He starts to get to know the man Iron Man rejected him for, but before that, robots from the future could tear the whole team apart…
Comment: More identity porn! I love all of MemoryDragon’s fics, and this one was a standout for me because of the identity porn - it’s always interesting in fics when Steve gets along well with Iron Man but not Tony Stark, and this was a fascinating read.

But I Still Feel Youby pensversusswords 
Summary: Tony knows a lot of things about Steve. He knows that Steve is a stubborn pain in the ass, he knows that he’s got a heart of gold, and he knows Steve would rather punch his way out of a tricky situation than talk himself out of it. But the one thing Tony knows the most: he’s hopelessly, tragically in love with Steve. In which Tony is impulsive, Steve is confused, and they work it out in the end. Eventually.
Comment: So much awesome angsty pining, with a very oblivious Steve. I commissioned pensversusswords for a Steve/Tony Anne and Gilbert AU last year, and she delivered wonderfully. I adore the way she wrote their friendship and the way Steve slowly comes to his senses - Tony always breaks my heart whenever I reread this fic, but they figure it out in the end. 

Tied to You by ann2who 
Summary: What does it take for Steve and Tony to get over their insecurities and denial? Being kidnapped and tied up together. Naked. Obviously.
Comment: I love all of ann2who’s fics dearly, but I thought I’d rec this one today because it’s a Post-AOU fic that deals with Steve/Tony’s issues really well, with bonus pining and awkward boners :P

Even Though We Know Love’s Landscape by lazywriter7 
Summary: But at the core, he’s the same brand of poor little rich guy that dot the shadowed corners of every charity gala, every award function. Sure, maybe it comes in a ‘genius billionaire playboy philanthropist’ package…but his mettle is common iron. A drop of sea water, a dash of air, and he’d rust right through. 
She, on the other hand, is made of better stuff. 
In which Tony compares people to weird things, Steph recites poetry and two dorks fall in love.
Comment: Everytime I rec this fic to someone, it usually ends with me flailing and yelling IT HAS STEPHANIE ROGERS RECITING POETRY TO TONY and begging them to read it. This is my favorite of Kiera’s fics, for many reasons - the gorgeous writing, the poetry, the way she just gets the characters so well… read it!

One Last Second Chanceby Muccamukk 
Summary: Tony Stark, second newest engineer at Rhodes Labs International, is just trying to rebuild from the ruins of his failed company, vanished fortune, and struggles with alcoholism. His goals include keeping his head down, avoiding stress and convincing Dr. Rhodes to let him build a really cool robot, so why does the universe keep throwing Avengers in his path?
Comment: I had never heard of Earth 57289 before this fic, but it takes the premise and runs with it, and I enjoyed every single minute of this fic, from Tony and Cap at Rhodes Labs, to taking care of Steve in his apartment (with all the h/c goodness!). I wish there were more fics set in this universe.

Unmasked by Sineala
Summary: All the rifts of the Civil War have been healed, everyone is alive again, and the Avengers can finally relax… and party! It’s time for a marathon viewing of the Avengers TV show! Of course, Tony doesn’t remember what happened in any of the episodes that aired while he was the director of SHIELD, but he’s positive he wouldn’t have approved anything… inappropriate. He absolutely wouldn’t have. As it turns out, Tony shouldn’t think so highly of himself.
Comment: I love the way Tony’s feelings are revealed to Steve in this fic, it gave me so many feelings, and the way Steve reacted in the end was perfect.

It Might Almost Be Worth It by nightwalker 
Summary: Tony couldn’t decide if this was more humiliating or frustrating, but either way it was easily the worst thing that had happened all week.
Comment: A sex pollen fic, except Steve is asexual and the team didn’t know. Fics with ace Steve or ace Tony are rare, and I really, really enjoyed this one, and I also loved how the revelation of Steve and Tony having feelings for each other was handled. 

A Budapest Christmasby shetlandowl 
Summary: A Housesitter AU where Tony moves into Steve’s place, charms his parents, befriends his life-long friends, and repairs the relationships Steve ruined in the aftermath of his own heartbreak. Their relationship is a happy, loving, and supportive one; or, at least it was so until Steve showed up unannounced and was congratulated on a marriage he’d never heard of.
Comment: I beta-ed this fic, and it is FREAKING. AWESOME. Fluffy and angsty in turns, Steve/Tony’s relationship is so wonderfully written, and I adored Tony’s relationship with Steve’s parents and the whole town so much.

Stick With Me, Baby, I’m the Fella You Came With by Annie D (scaramouche) 
Summary: During the final battle with Ultron, Tony kisses Steve for the first time. Afterward, he makes it clear to Steve that he was just running on adrenaline and not thinking clearly. Steve seems to accept it, but the kiss nudges open a door of possibilities, and the situation escalates.
Comment: Post-AOU fics tend to be hit-and-miss for me, and this was a hit. I adored Steve/Tony’s dynamic and Steve’s characterization in this fic, The way their game grew from something to win at, to something with intent, and feelings, was really fun to read.

Noble Metals by Veldeia 
Summary: Living together with the Avengers, in a relationship with Steve, Tony’s as happy as he’s ever been—until it turns out he’s dying of palladium poisoning. 
Unwilling to tell anyone, he replaces himself with a Life Model Decoy and breaks up with Steve, so he can hide and focus on fixing his arc reactor before it’s too late.Steve can’t decide if Tony is acting strangely or if that’s just his denial speaking. Tony Mark II struggles to figure out the best course of action, stuck handling issues he was never programmed to deal with. And Tony isn’t sure he can ever get Steve back, even if he survives.
Comment: So much awesome angst. This fic combines two of my favorite things: Tony building a LMD of himself, and the trope breaking up/getting back together trope, and it’s written brilliantly.

Comment: Oh my god, Tony’s absolutely unrepentant face there is just the best. It’s not exactly nsfw, but it was on it’s way there before people walked in. 

hellogarbagetime – art tag – does a variety of universes and themes from fluff to angst and I love everything about her art. Her Tony is the prettiest and I always find myself losing time when looking at her art.

Tony never thought he could be so happy. Maybe after New York and Sokovia his luck has finally turned. He looks forward to the future--with Steve at his side. It's perfect.

That is, until Lagos happens, and the Sokovian Accords are thrown between Steve and Tony. Good thing Tony knows that they can get through anything together. Can't they?

Comment: Most of Laireshi's angst fics are short (the better to rip you apart with quickly with no words wasted), but this one, written for the 2016 BB, is 30k words worth of gradually worsening pain. I prefer to avoid both the MCU and fics where my OTPs break-up for good, and yet I'm reccing this, so take that as a double (triple?) endorsement.

Summary: Steve Rogers, super soldier. It’s amazing really that it takes them all so long to work out just what the serum can do… but given enough time all things become apparent. Comment: I'm still traumatized by this fic. It's beautiful and feels almost cinematic with its descriptions and progression, don't get me wrong. I rarely cry at fic but this one left me sobbing for an hour and empty inside for days, and I read the rest of the Noir tag for 2 weeks looking for happy fic to heal my heart afterward.

In another, Steve's just gotten Bucky back, and the Accords have been struck down. But the fractures the Accords caused haven't healed, and Tony has vanished from the face of the earth.
The problem? It's the same Steve. When he falls asleep in one life, he wakes in the other. Unless he can figure out which life is real, both are at risk.

Comment: Simply fantastic. The summary makes it sound a bit like it would be confusing but it is really not, it's so well written and clever. The newly-weds Steve/Tony version is probably my favourite look at established relationship post-CW.

Comment: This is not a full fix-it, but I really enjoyed Steve and Tony’s relationship grew and developed in this fic.

Comment: I loved how Steve/Tony learned to work together to survive and how they started being honest with each other, but it also wasn’t an easy fix. ann2who’s other fix-it A New Way for Us is also a great read.

Summary: Steve wants to start up the Avengers again, and it’s not like Tony can tell him no. There's a lot to do after the Raft breakout, after all: The new team needs work, villains need catching and there’s a missing superhero to find. When they start trying to add romance to the mix it’s really a miracle things go so well for so long.

Comment: This fic is one of my favorites and I love it with all my heart. It has plot, it has feels, it has Steve meeting Tony under different circumstances. It's such a damn cool fic and I want to read it again right now. I JUST LOVE IT.

I love identity misunderstandings and old time 616, and this story is written so well that as soon as I linked it here I had to reread it once again.

An Inglorious Affair by ann2who and morphia and art by faite RBB 2017
Warnings for homophobia and violence. In 1944, Steve's commando team, The Basterds, are off to fight nazis in France, Tony joins them.
So I am still reading the Ultimates and I tried watching the movie but there was too much violence for me- so I started this fic a bit reluctant. And I loved it to pieces. I loved the art so much that I could spend hours just staring at it and the fic was the right mix of Ults and feelings.

This is a take on the MCU, everything is the same but no one on the team knows Tony is Iron Man. This story is my 'fluff angst mcu' comfort story.

This story is amazing. I am terrible at writing my opinions on things and I don't want to spoil anything, as I was quite surprised by the direction this fic takes!

This is one of my favourite mcu cvil war fix-it. When Tony is ordered to take a vacation, Steve volunteers to go with him. Things are not easy.
The travelling together fic, with tons of angst and feelings.

616, Steve comes back to life after CW. Steve and Tony try to solve their problems and friendship but a miscommunication ends up in complicating the relationship between them. Angst, pining and insecurities.
This is something that probably everyone has read, but just in case, here it is the story which is probably my favourite stevetony. It broke my heart with so many angst and feelings and love and I still have it on my kindle to reread at any time. And it's also deliciously long (100k words).

Comment: A utterly gorgeous fic, the kind of fic that you can't stop thinking about for days and kind of leaves you breathless afterwards. It's hard to explain what's going on without spoiling the premise of the story, but I promise it's worth the read.

Summary: Steve Rogers is a man of action, but in this brave new century, there's no action to be had. A man without a mission, all he has to linger on are the people he let down and the lives he failed to save, and he is so very alone. Nights eat at him and days pass in a blur, and Tony Stark is the only person who seems to notice just how badly the Captain is suffering.
Comment: I'm quite picky when it comes to post-TWS Steve/Tony fics, and this is one of my favorites. Steve's voice and characterization is perfect here, and the slow build is handled really well.

Summary: When Tony Stark takes a bullet intended for Steve Rogers, he wakes up in a world entirely peopled by alternate incarnations of everyone's favorite Star-Spangled Man.
Comment: Reading about Tony interacting with all the different Steves with an absolute riot, especially Angry Steve and Married Steve, and Lonely Steve kept tugging at my heartstrings. An awesome multiverse fic.

Summary: Tony Stark was born a satyr, and sometimes he really wishes he'd just been born a human. No one takes a satyr seriously, but when he tries to gain some credibility and authority, he faces obstacles put in his way from his board, his father figure, and the very fae people who would know what it would be like to be different from everyone else.
Tony's having quite a few bad months. Thank god there's a wolf in Central Park that likes to listen. Whenever it bothers to show up, of course..
Comment: I was very intrigued by the premise despite not having read many modern fantasy fics, and it definitely paid off. One of the things I adore about this fic is the worldbuilding and the complex relationships between all the different creatures, and the pining and identity porn was also very lovely.

Summary: Tony Stark is a star center, sidelined by a slip in sobriety. Steve Rogers is a goalie, suspended for a punch thrown off the ice.
When the two meet, they're trying to get their lives back on track, both off and on the ice. It turns out, the saying is true: A burden shared is a burdened halved. At least until Howard Stark gets involved.
(A get together fic full of fluff, supportive friends, dad Rhodey, and hockey! But if you know nothing about hockey, you'll be fine, because neither does the author.)
Comment: HOCKEY GET TOGETHER FIC. I love sports fics, and orbingarrow's fics never disappoint :)

Cold Day in the Sun by Robin_tCJ, art by Fan and Cazdinal, 2016 BB
Summary: In an alternate universe, Steve Rogers fell from the train during World War II instead of Bucky Barnes. Bucky took up the mantle of Captain America, while Steve became the new fist of HYDRA, the Winter Soldier. When Steve resurfaces and HYDRA falls, how will Steve reintegrate into society? How will he come to terms with the past, his actions, and find his way back to being Steve? And how will he and Tony deal with their developing feelings for one another?
Comment: I love this fic so, so much, it does an amazing job of exploring an AU in which Steve becomes the Winter Soldier and how that would have changed him, and Steve and Tony's relationship in this fic is beautifully written. Because of this fic, I keep craving more Steve as Winter Soldiers AUs now.

But soon Steve goes from being a thorn in Tony’s side to being his dearest friend – and much, much more than that. Despite Steve feeling the same way about Tony, the pair still dance around each other for years as Steve struggles to accept his feelings for another man: especially one already betrothed to another. Not to mention that Tony is a prince, and Steve is nothing but a squire.
But before they can make peace, Tony is kidnapped and dragged into the beginnings of another conflict in the nearby magical kingdom of Asgard – he really hates magic. With his potential usefulness diminishing by the day, Tony races to escape even as Steve, Natasha, and their friends race to find him and bring him home.
And—just to make matters worse—Tony has been trapped by a powerful spell and turned into a swan, of all creatures. He really, really hates magic.
Comment: The Swan Princess is one of my favorite movies, so of course I was over the moon when I found this fic and oh my god it is so worth it. There are so many wonderful things about this fic, but the highlight has to be reading about Steve/Tony's relationship throughout the years, with huge amounts of pining and angst, but of course they get their happy ending in the end.

Like Coming Home (616/MCU, 75015 words) by missbecky (2013 Captain America/Iron Man Big Bang)
Summary: After a tragic accident, Steve is given a chance to go back in time and deliver a warning to Tony in the hope of avoiding their fate. Something's gone wrong, though, because this is not his world he's ended up in. And that is definitely not his Tony who's planning to delete his own brain.
Sometimes your second chance isn't at all what you were expecting.
Comment: This is one of my favorite MCU/616 crossovers and one I go back to rereading regularly. This ties in beautifully with post-Civil War and Dark reign canon and has a good amount of Tony angst and Tony whump and I just love it.

Summary: Babyfic! When Tony unexpectedly becomes a parent, his world view drastically changes. And changes. Then it changes again. And then again.
Comment: Also one of my all time favorite fics, because Tony and a baby is just my favorite trope ever and this is the post-Civil War getting together with a multiverse baby fic!

Summary: Tony Stark disappeared without a word at the close of World War II, and hasn't been seen or heard from since. But Tony is keeping secrets of his own ... and Steve soon finds out he isn't the only person interested in Tony Stark's missing years.
Comment: This is my favorite Noir fic and also one I reread regularly. It just has the right tone and whiff of adventure for a Noir story and I don’t want to give away too much about the plot and what Tony is up to, so I’m just saying this fic does a nice job of being a sequel for the mini-series.

De Profundis (The Wartime Romance Remix) (1651 words) by Woad
Summary: Tony was kidnapped and his memories altered in a bid to make him the next Zemo. He was rescued, but now he's dealing with the aftermath.
Comment: This is a sequel of my own fic, so I was pondering if it would seem self-indulgent to put it on this list. But it really needs to be on this list, because I like it very much as it’s own story and it really is the kind of very well crafted remix that is enjoyable as remix and as a completely separate fic. Woad made all the horrors of war and Hydra come alive for me in a very confined setting and that is just amazing.

Comment: Another of my favorites when it comes to my favorite MCU/616 crossovers. This is set after CA:CW and it’s so in character and hurts SO GOOD.

Comment: I’m always a sucker for post-Extremis “how does it affect Tony” fics and I haven’t seen many lately, so I went back to one of my older favorites. This really does a good job of showing us the getting together, before tying in with the Extremis arc and going beyond it.

What he is now is still up for debate, but it doesn't look like he's going to have much time to figure it out. With a computer in his head screwing up and a country falling to pieces, options are getting limited. Steve The world needs Iron Man a lot more than it needs Tony Stark.

It wasn't just the law Tony was running from, it was the past as well, and he couldn't afford to wait around for it to catch up to him. Now if only he could convince himself to leave.

Steve drags himself out of the wreckage of their ship, on a planet that shouldn’t exist, the Avengers are missing, Iron Man is torn to scraps, and Tony has a lot of explaining to do.

Frantic, Steve drops everything he’s doing to fly out to L.A. to prevent Bucky from making the biggest mistake of his life, and marrying Clint. When he gets to L.A., though, he meets Clint’s friend Tony – brash, flirty, and gorgeous. Steve has to make a choice – and maybe learn some hard truths about himself in the process. The closer it gets to the wedding, the more confused Steve gets – does he admit how he feels to Bucky, or does he admit to himself how he feels about Tony?
