set phasers to love by nasa (616)
Summary: Tony and Steve are mid-screaming match when the Avengers Alarm goes off. They're also mid-screaming match when their spaceship crashes, leaving them stranded in the desert of an alien planet with no comms, no tech, and no resources to be had. Oh, yeah - there's also a little girl of unknown species along for the ride.
Steve tries to be a charitable person, but sometimes he really hates Reed.
Comment: I loved this so much! It's very in character, Steve and Tony's disagreements are really spot on, AND IT'S KINDA A KID FIC TOO.
the other side of sorrow by adarksweetness (616/MCU)
Summary: MCU Steve travels to Earth-616 to bring Tony home, and is found by the resistance in Secret Empire. It's a lot to take in.
Comment: Full disclosure, it is a remix of my fic, and I LOVE IT TO PIECES. Multiverse fic with all the pain of the recent canon for MCU and 616! I love the way adarksweetness handled MCU Steve there.
My Hope and Home by navaan (616/MCU)
Summary: Something happens after Avengers: Infinity War that put Tony into a coma. Steve's devastated and spends time at his bedside when he can. They had just started to make things work between them. But it seems he's not the only one looking out for Tony?
Meanwhile Tony has lost everything - and the only thing left for him is to make it right for others.
Comment: Another 616/MCU crossover :D And I don't even know what to say about it, because I don't want to spoil anything, so just: READ IT. READ IT!!! IT'LL BE SO WORTH IT OH MY GOD I LOVE IT A LOT. There's also art by apivotal!
Five Stages by faite (many verses: MCU, 1872, 616, Ults, Next Avengers; warning for major character death)
Comment: Do you hate yourself? Do you want to cry? Do you want to curse at faite forever? LOOK AT THE ART. She's an amazing artist but ARGH MY FEELS.
Summary: You always find me.
Comment: This is my current mobile wallpaper, so I have to rec it! I love how vibrant the colours are, and of course Tony finding Steve is always The Best.
Summary: Post 616!Civil War AU angst where Steve comes back from the dead earlier, and usually Dugan gives him security footage with Tony’s confession.
Comment: I love this scenario a lot, and the art is simply fantastic! Their faces make me so sad. Oh, Tony.
Every Chance We'll Have by Magicasen (Ultimates, 16835 words, Mature)
Summary: A mission gone south leaves a city block decimated and Iron Man hospitalized, but what makes top headlines is the fact that Captain America has a secret lover.
To the man himself, it's a living nightmare. His husband is in a coma, his entire world is falling apart around him, and Steve has to to confront realities he never wanted to.
Comment: This is such a wonderful story all around. The structure of following Steve in the present while getting the development of their relationship in flashbacks is great, the Steve voice is fantastic with all his tangled emotions, and there's a fascinating mix of melancholy and a fierce hunger for live from Tony and Steve. I'll quote a sentence that just stuck with me, what a great take on Ults!Steve and Tony: "He was happy with the casual intimacy, how Steve's skin, like stone to the rest of the world, could be a comfort to Tony."
Masked and Anonymous by Panickyintheuk (616, 4236 words, Explicit)
Summary: "When Mr. Stark opened the door, he had his shirt untucked, and no shoes on. It was evening, and it was his own apartment, and Steve was dropping by unannounced, so that was all really fair enough, but it was also the least put-together Steve had ever seen him."
Steve drops in on Avengers benefactor Mr. Stark, but it seems that Mr. Stark was expecting him.
Comment: Hot and Fun! One of my favourite newer explicit fics and the resolution is surprisingly perfect. Literal and yet unexpected identity porn.
(Un)Stuck by Navaan (MCU, 9129 words, Teen and Up)
Summary: He finds himself in different places, living different lives. And yet it all comes back to Steve.
Comment: Post-IW. Fascinating story, loved the mystery and the gradual reveal of what was going on, which is why I'm not saying much about the content.
Notting Hill AU by Anon (MCU, ~ 18000 words, Kinkmeme fill)
Original Prompt: Where Steve is the owner of a bookstore in Brooklyn and Tony is Tony, whether he's a famous actor or not it's up to you.
Comment: I had a great time reading this - well written, entertaining, and cute, rom-com in the best sense. Bonus points for Tony falling for tiny!Steve.
The Fire In Your Eyes by Valdeia (Noir, 45017 words, Explicit)
Summary: Captain America is assigned the task of solving a mystery case of arson with possible superhuman involvement. The billionaire adventurer Tony Stark seems somehow related to the case, and Steve needs to figure out whether he's a victim, or perhaps the culprit—without getting too distracted by his charm.
Comment: Fantastic story, marrying a noir!detective story with an adaptation of the Extremis plot for this universe. Great atmosphere, great Steve POV, who is investigating series of arson incidents on the surface and the mystery of Tony Stark underneath that.
And I'll explicitely rec the Illustrations for this fic by Hundredthousands, too. They are perfect and gorgeous and fascinating in their focus and colour scheme. Great great work.
Art by Ireallyshouldbedrawing (MCU)
Comment: Post-IW-reunion I. (With bonus!Nebula.)
You're Alive by Mrsgingles (MCU)
Comment: Post-IW-reunion II.
Two different artists with very different styles and takes on this and I loved them both a lot.
Shaving!Art by Hellogarbagetime (616)
Summary: More 616! This was a drawing I started after Steve returned at the end of SE with his beard, and it’d be real sweet if Tony could’ve help him out there
Comment: EVERYTHING. Steve's bared throat! The expressions on their faces! Tony's closed eyes! The forehead kiss! Hands! Hair! Shirtsleaves! ... yeah, I kind of liked this one.
The Trial Run by Annie D (scaramouche) (MCU)
Summary: Tony and Steve pretend to date, and enjoy it far more than they should.
Why you should read it: This is just one of the best and sweetest fake-dating fics I’ve ever read.
When Our Day Comes by thepartyresponsible (MCU)
Summary: “Damn, Rogers,” Tony says, “did Lady Liberty teach you to kiss like that?“Steve blinks at him. He’s always been distracting. He has always been the kind of beautiful that can break necks when he walks into a room. But this close, the view is downright devastating. Tony’s eyes drop to Steve’s mouth, red and wet, and he almost forgets how breathing works.“Well,” Steve says, after a beat, “she is French.”
Why you should read it: I’m not sure what to say about this fic because it is just… really well-written. The premise is not new (phase 1, friends with benefits and both think that’s how the other wants it when they both want more) and so the fuck what, because the writing is excellent. This fic has both excellent Tony POV and sassy Steve. Do you know how hard sassy Steve is to write? Just, damn. They just bounce off each other beautifully in this and it’s wonderful.
Taking the Plunge, a Stitch at a Time by janonny (MCU)
Summary: Being a fugitive was not going to stop Steve from meeting with Tony to fix what happened between them. He just needed to avoid getting caught, which was a lot more complicated when New York was under attack. What Steve needed was a quick disguise so that he could help without being recognized…
Why you should read it: If you know anything about what I like in Steve/Tony you know I LOVE the 616 Nomad outfit. And I love it being imported into the MCU even though that makes little to no sense. This has that, plus elements of identity porn, which is one of my other favorite things, so I was destined to love this fic. Overall, this is some excellent comedy / crack treated seriously.
Even My Phone Misses Your Call by rainbowninja167 (MCU)
Summary: Steve makes it all the way to Ohio before conceding that the post-Chitauri road trip might’ve been a mistake. Or, ten times Steve has to call Tony to come pick him up.
Why you should read it: I love so many things about this story. It’s really good Steve POV, with lots of Tony making very in-character jokes and everyone being really in-character in general. There’s Sam and Steve friendship, which is sooo important. I also really enjoy the format and the 10 things structure.
The Zarrow Shuffle by gottalovev (MCU)
Summary: When they notice that Steve seems to have a mysterious - and possibly bad for him - girlfriend, Nat and Clint investigate. Steve just wishes they’d stop prying into his personal life, especially since he is trying to keep a secret.
Why you should read it: Well-written MCU secret identities. Okay???
Serenity Oasis by FestiveFerret (MCU)
Summary: Waking up with the last six months erased from his mind was bad enough, but apparently some time in that missing period, Steve went from hating Tony to marrying him… or was it all a cover for a mission?
Why you should read it: observe these tags: Memory Loss; Fake Marriage; Or Is It?; Falling In Love; AGAIN?; Temporary Amnesia; Mysteries; Missions; Couples Resort; Sharing a Bed; Boats; Massages; Rom Com to the Max. Do I need to say anything more?
Deafening Quiet, Silent Roar by FestiveFerret (MCU)
Summary: Tony hates silence after the wormhole; Steve hates loud noises after the war. But, somehow, they like each other.
Why you should read it: Ahhhh they fall in love so beautifully!
"death by coffee” and other search queries by goodmorningbeloved (MCU)
Summary: In which Steve’s feelings are hopelessly obvious through his Google searches. JARVIS decides to step in.
Why you should read it: This is SO FUCKING CUTE. Look, JARVIS is the outsider POV playing matchmaker, what’s not to love?
Plus:
If you read Steve/Tony you’ve almost definitely read these but I’m going to rec them anyway, in part because I actually would have missed almeno tu nell'universo if someone it hadn’t shown up on my dashboard at exactly the right time, and I can’t let that happen to anyone else!
Thrust Issues by Sineala for phoenixmetaphor (616)
Summary: A battle gone wrong leads Tony to the unexpected and pleasant discovery that Steve is much more well-endowed than he could ever have imagined. But when Tony learns that Steve has never actually been able to sleep with anyone because of his size, Tony does what any good friend would do: he offers to relieve Steve of his virginity. Personally. Tony’s determined, Tony’s methodical, and Tony has a plan. He’s going to get Steve laid. Tony just needs to make sure Steve never finds out that Tony’s in love with him.
Why you should read it: Unless there is an aspect of this that is a squick or trigger for you, you will be delighted by this story. My plan for today is to finish my work and then go to the beach with my dog and read this for the 3rd time. It’s 130,000 words about Steve having a giant dick and it is a GIFT to us all.
almeno tu nell'universo by silkspectred (MCU)
Summary: Tony drives off. Well, he wants to. But he can’t. Because. Steve Rogers is in front of his car. Steve fucking Rogers. Is in front of Tony’s fucking car.
Why you should read it: After Captain America: Civil War, Steve and Tony talk about their feelings a lot and actually work through things and feel things and stay in character. Plus it’s a mutual pining slow burn with alternating POV sooooo.
Sixpence In His Shoe by scifigrl47 (MCU)
Summary: Steve and Tony should really read the fine print on what they’re signing. Then again, some mistakes are not really mistakes.
Why you should read it: Because everything scifigrl47 writes is basically MCU canon except better, funnier, and with more Steve/Tony. In this case there’s also accidental marriage. You’re welcome.
Summer Soldier by Azkaabanter on Ao3. It’s Dad!Tony heavy but Steve and him are super cute in it
Gifts That Keep on Giving by laireshi (616)
Summary: “It’s your birthday,” Tony said. “It feels like you’re fulfilling my wish, though.” It was amazing, the amount of trust Tony had in him even after tasting the champagne in Steve’s mouth. Steve would enjoy seeing that trust shattered. Hydra Cap only wants Tony for his birthday.
Why you should read it: Because Hydra Cap just wants Tony for his birthday! I mean. Yes please.
I Want to Hurt You by FestiveFerret (MCU)
Summary: How could Steve ever look Tony in the eye again? He loved Tony, so desperately, but he didn’t know how to come back from this. He didn’t know how many apologies would be enough to make up for what he’d done. He could still feel Tony’s soft skin giving to dark bruises under his fingers.
Why you should read it: My other main fandom is Star Trek (TOS and AOS) so I often find myself wondering why Steve/Tony doesn’t have more sex pollen. I mean… sex pollen. Hellooooo. Well, fortunately one of my favorite writers has provided some, with added Steve angst!
You Want It Darker by laireshi (616)
Summary: When Steve kisses him, he tastes like champagne. Or: Hydra Cap has a gift for Tony.
Why you should read it: This is kinda everything I want from Hydra Cap / Tony and I love it.
So Much That I Wanna Do by ChibiSquirt (MCU)
Summary: Steve wants Tony, but Tony has a boyfriend. Then Tony’s boyfriend talks him into a Public Use fantasy, and it’s a little too tempting for Steve to resist. Based on this prompt: Tony is left out for public use, Steve takes his turn.
Why you should read it: This has plot, feelings, bondage, and really good smut.
Retrograde by Sineala (616)
Summary: After Hydra falls, Tony wakes. The world is broken. And Steve won’t talk to him anymore.
Why you should read it: Okay I don’t know what to say about this, it is just so good and lovely and heartbreaking (with a happy ending) so here is a quote: Steve glances back at him. His eyes are bloodshot, glassy, too pale. “Have you ever had a really good secret? Say, you’ve bought someone a present, or you’re about to give one of your employees a promotion, or the new Avengers roster is ready to go? And it’s not so much about revealing the secret, but just– imagining it. Having the secret, it makes you happy.” He laughs. “He knew. He knew everything. He made it into a joke. A taunt.”
Tony Stark in Grocery Lists by an AO3 user called Dizzydreamer. Their syle's just so pretty.
Tony's Weird Sleeping Habits and His Obsession with Steve and Donuts by xinsomniac1101x (xCapsiclexShellheadx)
Summary: Tony falls asleep in an even weirder place than normal. DUM-E takes advantage of the situation and Steve grows more fond of his Tony.
Artful Tuesday – recs of all the amazing fanart.
Shame by One and Five Nines (Obani)
(see also Easier (The Shame Remix) by FestiveFerret, which is a fic remix of the above art)
The Great Reward by fictionforlife
MCU Tribute by ireallyshouldbedrawing
Fairy Tale Bingo by hellogarbagetime
The Roles We Play by Faite (616)
Summary: The villain formerly known as The Captain pays a visit to Director Stark.
Comment: I love the role-playing and how perfectly it's reflected in the art, how the atmosphere and their facial expressions change once you reach the switching point.
Tony I from Petiteallemande's Steve's Sketches series (all MCU).
Comment: The idea is that all of these are drawn by Steve and I love how this one catches Tony mid-conversation. It looks like something Steve would have drawn early on, from the sidelines even, starting to see Tony.
Comment: Love the arc reactor in this and Tony's expression.
Comment: The idea of Steve drawing Tony as he looked during their airport fight in Civil War is heartbreaking, but the cherry on top is the "I'm sorry, Tony." he wrote in the top right corner.
StarTrek!AU by Aya (MCU)
Comment: Star Trek AU! Always here for that. Stumbled across this one by chance, really well done.
Speaking of Star Trek, I recently went and looked at the art for Sineala's "Straight on till Morning" again and it's so great:
BB Art: Safe on Earth by Phoenixmetaphor
Comment: Loved the scene, love this, their body language, how they are in each other's space already. Also, Tony's hair!
Art for "Straight on till Morning" by Runoutofrun
Comment: Colours, light, atmosphere, attention to detail - every single piece is just amazing here.
Two quiet nights by Ireallyshouldbedrawing/Fictionforlife:
Adventuring (Noir)
Comment: Love everything about this. Steve and Tony in their little bubble of firelight, talking and relaxed and wrapped up in each other, all underneath this beautiful night sky.
A Quiet Night on the Airship (Noir)
Comment: Tony just watching Steve. So simple, just beautiful.
Bonus:
NSFW!Art (Noir)
Comment: This packs so much feeling into a few lines. Love the sensuality and how Tony gives in here.
Road Trip by Pinkelephant42 (MCU)
Summary: Tony introduces Steve to his friends, takes him on vacations and fights a supervillan.
Comment: Steve and Tony getting to know each other after the first Avengers movie. A lovely little wordless comic. The Malibu!house scene is fascinating and I love the motorcycle trip and the villain fighting.
Sketch I (616, NSFW)
Comment: This is perfect - the posture, the slight possessiveness from Steve, the closed eyes, their bodies. Has a slight hurt/comfort vibe, too, at least for me.
Sketch II (616, NSFW)
Comment: Steve carrying Tony while making out and half out of their clothes already. Yep.
Porn I (616, NSFW)
Comment: Post-mission blowjob. I'm picky when it comes to porn, this is great.
Porn II (616, NSFW)
Comment: And the other way around. :-)
Holiday Fluff (616)
Comment: Not exactly the season, but I love these! Shaliara's take on 616!Steve/Tony is just unique and I love looking at them here. Bonus Carol/Jess.
Comment: I CAN'T PICK JUST ONE OKAY JUST DO YOURSELF A FAVOUR AND GO THROUGH HER ART TAG. So many different flavours of stevetony! Sweet stevetony, angsty stevetony, SCOOP MY HEART OUT WITH AN ICE CREAM SPOON STEVETONY.
Comment: Okay, so I love Shaliara for her 616 art, and this is MCU, but I need everyone to see this comic and cry over it?? Also her style is as beautiful as ever.
Comment: Again, I def rec everything baneme does, but I'm linking this particular piece because I think everyone could do with some tsum tsum cuteness.
The Stony kisses tag by negativesd09 (some might be NSFW-ish)
Comment: I'm linking a tag to their series of stony kisses, because it's all fantastic, and you get all the stevetony your heart wishes for.
Comment: I love the story it tells in just a few panels, and how happy it makes me!
Comment: I LOVE EVERYTHING ABOUT THIS. My perfect kind of stevetony. Ahhhh.
Art by heyokay163
Comment: THIS GIVES ME ALL KIND OF FEELS THAT I CAN'T DESCRIBE SO JUST LOOK AT IT
Angsty Wednesday – all the angsty and dark fanworks
And For You... (Can't Let You Destroy) by navaan (616, Major Character Death)
Summary: He's an AI now - not human. And Steve has betrayed them all. How is an Artificial Intelligence to cope when it still feels the betrayal.
Comment: I just want to say this fic is Not Okay and Navaan broke me and she's still not forgiven for it. By which I mean, GO READ IT. Bonus rec for hellogarbagetime's rec art for the fic which spoils it, but HOLY SHIT MY HEART.
Signals Between Two Satellites by nostalgicatsea (MCU)
Summary: He hadn't allowed himself to dream of this, of Tony returning to him. Not when he had lost so much. Not when dreaming of the impossible would destroy him.
But Tony was here, and for the first time since Thanos had wiped out half of the universe, Steve felt hope.
Comment: nostalgicatsea's prose is beautiful. This has all the pain of a post-IW scenario, but it's hopeful, too.
Give Up The Ghost by foldingcranes (616, Major Character Death)
Summary: Director Stark gets a late night visit.
Comment: The best kind of Director Stark angst that I can never get enough of! SO CREEPY, SO GOOD.
Art by 000momo000 (MCU)
Comment: This is beautiful and heartbreaking and just ARGH!!!
Art by nohaijiachi (616, Major Character Death)
Comment: Just click on it and cry as I've been doing for the past three years, since it was first posted.
Comment: So I love this piece for shallow reasons (TONY IN HIS UNDERSUIT) but also because it's deceptively fluffy . . . until you realise this is Hydra Cap. Uh huh. Take care, Tony.
Never In Time For A Dance (MCU, 970 words) and Chance at Love (MCU, 770 words) by Navaan
Summaries: Steve learns of it from the news. and Tony is dead. And Steve has to go on now in that knowledge, protecting Vision and the Infinity Stone.
Comment: For all your angsty and sad MCU!Steve needs. I really love Navaan's take on him.
Secrets and Surprises by Laireshi (616, 3072 words)
Summary: Tony's preparing for his and Steve's anniversary. The only issue? Steve realises that Tony's hiding something and, given their history, suspects it's something sinister.
Comment: Angst through well done misunderstandings and unintentional hurting each other? Favourite. And I just love how this uses their history.
All Time Low by Sineala (616, 12060 words)
Summary: Tony's lost his company to Obadiah Stane. He's lost it all: his money, his friends, his Avengers team... and his sobriety. Drunk, homeless, Tony is living on the streets, and when he runs out of liquor money, he sells the only thing he has left: his body. And one day, he has the exact wrong customer.
Comment: Because it really doesn't get much angstier, does it.
This Mortal Part of Mine by Sineala (616, 60255 words)
Summary: Steve hasn't seen Tony since he carried him, blackout drunk, out of the flames of a Bowery flophouse several months ago, and he honestly never expected to see Tony alive again. On his road trip across America, Steve puts out a call for the nearest Avenger -- and he's very surprised when Tony turns up in a brand-new Iron Man suit, ready for action. But their relationship, strained and tense, is about to get even worse. Their foe turns out to be a monster from another dimension, who hurts them in ways they could never have imagined, and the bond between them might not be strong enough to weather the aftermath.
Comment: Because I love that there is So Much Steve Angst in this one. Also, tentacles. Tentacles don't get recced enough.
String Theory (MCU, fanvid, constructed reality)
Summary: Wanda forebodes a catastrophe and changes Reality, separating Steve and Tony. Their past life and a new reality mix and bring them anguish and pain. But love conquers all and blah-blah-blah. And Wanda decides to return everything as it was.... or not, it all depends on your imagination.
Comment: I really like the story idea for this vid and the footage the vidder chose to show the "wrong" lives that Steve and Tony are leading, and how disturbed they are by the flashes of what they were in a different life.
Gasoline by Garrideb (616, fanvid)
Summary: A comics fanvid set during the run on Iron Man when Tony was the Director of SHIELD, had his Extremis powers, and was frequently hallucinating the ghosts of his dead friends.
Comment: The ultimate angsty Tony vid. So much going on.
If Only I Could TheMadMoro (616, fanvid)
Summary: Tony Stark's reaction to death of Captain America.
Comment: Perfect.
Watching You by Firenstone (MCU, fanvid, constructed reality)
Summary: Tony woke up at a strange place, couldn't remember anything. A man appeared in his dream told him to think. So he started to think about the last thing he remembered: he died for saving Steve. And now he's just a program watching Steve through cameras...
Comment: I adore this take on Extremis and AI!Tony and the presumed dead trope. Love the moment of revelation when Steve realizes who has been helping them in the shadows.
And finally, I have to include Ann2who's pre CA:CW Civil War AU No Lights (MCU, fanvid).
Comment: Worth it for the constructed prison scene alone, but I also love the way she constructs the established relationship just to blow it all to hell with the CW plot.
Oh Mrs. Beliver, you Pretty Weeper by Azkaabanter
“Just trust me,” Tony said, the mechanical voice of Iron Man making it seem emotionless.
“Trust is not something you would know about, Stark,” Steve said, and walked away.
And then it all went to hell.
(Comment: You can take the title quite literally. Not every piece is angst but I do recommend everything by @laireshi. Also, this is the very first fanfiction I’ve read by them. And down the rabbit hole I went. I used to be an unsuspecting MCU stony fan and then this. I regret nothing.)
Secrets and Surprises by laireshi
Tony’s preparing for his and Steve’s anniversary. The only issue? Steve realises that Tony’s hiding something and, given their history, suspects it’s something sinister.
first and last and always by laireshi
It’s not like waking up from the ice. Steve has seen how this year came to be, has seen every day of the few decades that passed.
None of them seemed real, because it was wrong, so wrong.
(”There are more spoilery warnings at the end.”)
All That You Love, All That You Hate by laireshi
Director Stark is happily married to Steve Rogers. They have no secrets from each other, and quite a lot from the world—mainly that Steve Rogers is really The Captain, an infamous villain.
Unfortunately, the truly important secrets rarely stay hidden, and when Steve’s identity gets revealed, Tony will do anything to keep them both safe.
He’s a hero, but it might mean crossing a line that a villain would never even approach.
as long as we remember by laireshi
“Good morning,” Tony said, his voice very steady. The way he would greet a stranger.
They weren’t strangers.
Or: the incursions are solved, but nothing is quite right.
(TW: “Hydra Steve Rogers […], Suicidal Thoughts […], Rape Aftermath”)
“Did I hurt you?” Steve asks.
“No,” Tony says.
But Steve already knows what Tony lying to his face looks like.
(TW: “Suicidal Thoughts […], Hydra Steve Rogers […], Implied/Referenced Alcohol Abuse/Alcoholism”)
“He looked exactly like you,” Tony hears himself say. “I knew it wasn’t you, but he looked like you, so I believed he wouldn’t hurt me.”
Why is he telling Steve that?
“He told me you loved me,” Tony continues. Maybe he just wants it all to hurt. Maybe if it hurts enough, it’ll finally end once and for all.
Changes on our hands and on our faces by laireshi
In the wake of the incursions, Steve and Tony face the end of the world together. They wake up separate, each of them faced with a version of the other they haven’t met before.
It might be a recipe for disaster, or it might just help them solve their issues.
(”There are warnings at the end.”)
To The End Of Love by laireshi
Steve’s been married to Tony for years when the Stamford disaster happens and the Superhero Registration Act tears the superhero community apart. When Tony disagrees with Steve, Steve still expects Iron Man to follow him: he’s his best friend, for one, and he’s chosen to keep his identity a secret from everyone. But Iron Man also fights against him.
And then Steve smashes his faceplate open.
He didn’t expect to hear a loud shot, and he didn’t expect to feel Tony’s warm blood mix with rain on his hands.
Heart With No Companion by laireshi
(TW: “Hydra Steve Rogers, Implied/Referenced Rape/Non-con”)
Hydra Cap captures MCU Tony and thinks it’s a great idea to charm him into waking 616 Tony from his coma.
There are some sacrifices Steve isn’t willing to make, but with the Time Gem, he doesn’t have to.
(”There are some very spoilery for the fic warnings at the end.)
for none of them would save him by laireshi
“I’m dead, in your timeline,” Tony said, not a question.
Steve shrugged, quiet and broken. “Everyone is.”
(“There are warnings at the end.”)
(TW: “Hydra Steve Rogers”)
Tony always trusted Steve with his override codes. This once, he shouldn’t have.
Tony Stark has always known what the words on his wrist are supposed to lead to. What he’s never known is who the words are for. 616 soulmate AU.
Enemy At The Gates by AvocadoLove
By the time Captain America was found and defrosted, the Chitauri had wiped out the entire state of New York, and Iron Man was the world’s most wanted villain.
(Written for the 2016 CapIron RBB)
Buy You A Mockingbird by jadedoll
Babyfic! When Tony unexpectedly becomes a parent, his world view drastically changes. And changes. Then it changes again. And then again.
Be No Stranger (All Your Saints and Soldiers Remix) by jibrailis
That’s the twenty-first century love song, baby. Glitz and glamour and every one of us is a liar.
Theory of Mind by seventymilestobabylon
Summary: Or, five things Steve didn’t let Tony buy him, and one thing he did.
Why you should read it: Honestly I love this fic so much that I don’t really know what to say about it because I love everything about it. It is incredibly authentic to their characters and perfectly captures the belligerent sexual tension between them with excellent dialogue and character moments. I’m saying it’s angst because of how persistently they fail to understand one another, despite being utterly in love and trying so, so hard. Also that ending holy shit.
Anthony and Natasha by TheCityLightShow (MCU)
Summary: On Steve’s sixteenth birthday, as was the norm, he woke up with a name on his wrist, etched beautifully into his skin. In blocky, scruffy handwriting now sat “Natasha Stark” on his left wrist. It was elegant handwriting, but not in a way that anyone other than Steve would share the notion. Now, he’s out of the ice, and he lifts his wrist to his face as his vision swims for a second. Oh thank god, he thinks at the sight of the black blur that mars his wrist, and then his thought processes stutter and screech to halt because it’s changed. The handwriting is still the blocky scruffy script that he loves, that holds comfort for him in the cross of the t and the arc of the r, but it’s not Natasha. It doesn’t say Natasha Stark any more. No, the name on his wrist is Anthony Stark. This time – this new time, Director Fury explains to him, this time sixty seven years in the future – this time he will find him. Whether they’re ninety like he should be, or closer to his actual age, Steve won’t make the same mistake twice. He doesn’t tell SHIELD that the name in their file is now wrong.
Trigger warning: recurring deadnaming of a trans character, some transphobia from unnamed side characters.
Why you should read it: This is a soulmate AU where Tony is trans. I love soulmate stories where there’s still conflict, and my favorite version of the conflict is internal angst. This is lovely and the right way to do angst with a happy ending in my opinion.
Changeling (series) by Sineala (616)
Summary for part 1: Instead of deleting his entire brain and reloading from a backup, Tony attempts to erase just the SHRA database from his mind. As Steve later finds out, this is unfortunately not what he actually did.
Summary for part 2: After the Civil War, Tony moves into Avengers Tower and tries to pick up the pieces of his shattered mind and his shattered life. It’s not going particularly well. He wishes someone would tell him what’s going on. He wishes he knew what he did as Iron Man, as an Avenger, as the director of SHIELD. But mostly he wishes Captain America would stop looking at him like he’s about to cry.
Summary for part 3: Carol and Tony test inventions, dine al fresco, and discuss several things Tony no longer remembers.
Why you should read it: This is just beautiful and heartbreaking and absolutely, perfectly in character.
All That You Can’t Leave Behind by missbecky (616)
Summary: Months after dying in the Civil War, Steve Rogers is alive and well and standing in Tony’s living room. It’s everything Tony ever hoped for. If only he could convince himself that it’s really happening.
Why you should read it: This is heart-wrenching and wonderful. The “unreliable narrator” aspect is brutal and so, so well done.
Summary: Very, very few people are allowed to hand things to Tony Stark. Steve has to fight to become one of them, and in the process, becomes something more.
Trigger warning: past child abuse
Why you should read it: This is exactly the kind of Howard-Stark-induced-angst I crave in my MCU Tony Stark, dang.
With Words Other Than These by RurouniHime (MCU)
Summary: The way Steve’s beating that bag, though—Tony traces the cadence as well as the lines of Steve’s body, and wonders if he might not need to know about the mission after all. There’s a lot of tension knotted in Steve’s shoulders, a frenzy to each punch. The precision lacks. Maybe Steve’s just getting started, and if that’s the case, Tony could be here a long, long while.
Why you should read it: Gahhhh it’s so painful when they’re both hurting and holy shit, they are hurting a lot in this one. And the way neither of them can quite say what they mean and keep devastating the other–it’s intense and wonderfully in character.
Put My Head Under My Pillow by @lazywriter7
Tony uses the BARF tech to get over his nightmares of Siberia.
(One of my favourite Post-CACW stony fix-it fics. I love the introspection and how we get to see Tony and Steve parse through the events of what happened.)
An Inglourious Affair by @stark-spangled-lovers and morphia
In 1944, Steve’s commando team, The Basterds, are off to fight nazis in France. Tony joins their efforts after intelligence suggests that Herr Kleiser, a German scientist, has set his sights on making a massive nuclear bomb.
Their mission: Get to Kleiser before he completes his evil plan. What neither of them had planned for, however, was to fall in love in the middle of the worst war either of them had ever seen.
(Mutual Pining and a growing secret relationship, coupled with high stake missions set in WWII. Wonderfully written, with some delicious angst.)
Can You Carry It (With No Regrets) by @rayshippouuchiha
“I know,” Tony tells him softly, eyes wide and soft and lips quirked in a small smile, “it isn’t fair.”
Tony’s always been so good at knowing what Steve’s thinking, except for the few times Steve purposefully, actively, lied to him.Times he knows now he’ll never get the chance to make up for.
“Focus,” Tony whispers as he leans forward into Steve’s space. “Breathe.”
(An Infinity War 4 what-if when Steve and Tony seek the soul stone in the fight against Thanos. Amazing, beautiful and heartbreaking.)
After a tumultuous youthful affair with Steven Rogers was cut short by the misgivings of friends and family, Master Anthony Stark has spent seven years browbeaten by his father and brother.
When at last reunited with Steven, now a Captain in His Majesty’s Royal Navy, Anthony is resigned to bear the brunt of Steven’s anger and the continued conjugal machinations of the Misters Stark, as well as his friends’ well-meaning meddling. A trip across England in the company of Captain Rogers, however, will put Anthony’s resolve to the test.
(A Stony re-imagining of Persuasion. Mutual pining, misunderstandings and regency romance galore, sprinkled with just the right amount of angst. You can tell so much research and love went into this, and I adore this adaptation tremendously.)
Like a Comet Streaming On by @sineala
Tony escapes Afghanistan with a functioning Iron Man suit and a perfectly normal heart. He even manages to bring Ho Yinsen home safely at his side. But he may as well have lost everything… because his wolfbrother is dead. Six months later, the Avengers find Captain America, frozen in ice, miraculously alive. Everything and everyone Steve has ever known is gone – except his wolfsister, the recipient of the lupine version of the super-soldier serum, who was frozen in his arms. Tony has everything but his wolf. Steve has only his wolf. This is how their lives fit together.
(One of my favourite fics of all time, it features a very unique trope I haven’t seen much in the marvel fandom - psychic wolves. And I absolutely love the focus on pack and family - watching Tony mourn and work through the loss of Kepler with the help of Steve and Libby is beautiful. Definitely make sure to have a large stack of tissues for this read.)

The Coffee Contract by @atsadi (Rated: T)
“Spider,” Tony repeats, remembering vaguely what the guy had started babbling about as soon as Tony had opened the door. At the time he’d been occupied with blinking blearily at what he could only assume was a vivid, exhaustion-provoked hallucination of an Actual Angel descended before him. “In your bathtub.”
(Features a sneaky Steve, a bewildered Tony and a fun meet-cute wrapped in an adorable neighbour au!)
Meet Your Heroes by @wordsplatwrites (Rated: M)
Tony gets rescued by a highly concerned, very handsy Captain America. This is confusing for a number of reasons.
(Hidden identity + established relationship fun! Tony gets kidnapped (again) and isn’t so keen on Captain America swooping in to save him. I love the banter and dialogue with this one so much, it’s a really fun read!)
Mama wants grandbabies, stat. by @shetlandowl (Rated: T)
It might not take a village, but that doesn’t mean children don’t need help to get where they need to be. When Steve can’t seem to manage on his own, what good mother would stand aside and let any opportunity pass him by?
Sarah Rogers is not that kind of mother.
(A really fun au featuring paleontologist Tony, third grade teacher Steve, and matchmaker extraordinaire Sarah Rogers. The slow developing relationship between Steve and Tony is wonderful, and I adore Steve’s relationship here with Sarah.)
And I met you… by @navydream (Rated: T)
Tony stark is terrible at relationships. But thankfully he’s got great friends… who like to meddle.
(A wonderful AvAc comic - With the help of his scheming friends, Jan, Loki and Natasha, a smitten Tony tries to catch the attention of the handsome new student, Captain America himself. Super cute and and a fun read!)
Amaryllis and Peonies by @reioka (This installment is rated T; the third installment is rated E)
Tony hadn’t known that Steve had never smelled an omega in heat before. He’s not sure what he would have done differently if he had known, of course, but it would have been nice to know, if only so could have prepared for the events that happened after his heat that dominoed after it.
(Part one of three in the Courting Conundrums series, omega tony and alpha steve attempt to stumble past miscommunications and misunderstandings into a relationship. Rei’s dialogue is always super fun to read, and I adore not only Steve and Tony’s developing relationship, but their friendships with Nat, and her attempts to help them along. There are splashes of angst, but overall, it’s a super fluffy and fun read.)
A Second of Totality by @stark-spangled-lovers (Rated: E)
{TO•TAL•ITY | The moment when the light from the eclipsed sun is totally obscured}
Tony Stark is a lot of things: Sixteen. High school graduate. Child prodigy. Obsessed with solar eclipses. And also hopelessly in love with his ex-best friend Steve Rogers. At the end of high school, life sucks in a not very sexy way, and there’s only one thing Tony’s looking forward to: a road trip to witness the first solar eclipse on American mainland in four decades.
Over a week of world-stopping kisses and holes in the sky, Tony finally gets a chance to tell Steve how he really feels. But can the one short week end in anything but goodbye?
(Beautifully written, this one really takes you to those halcyon days of summer. Features a high school au in which Tony, Steve and friends take a road trip to witness the solar eclipse in totality.)
Sometimes Steve gets overwhelmed by how much he loves Tony.
The T-Shirt Means I Love You by laireshi
“You’re wearing my clothes.”
Steve wants to take the words back as soon as he said them, because obviously Tony isn’t wearing his clothes, Tony’s not wearing any clothes, Tony’s an artificial intelligence, but Steve wishes Tony were corporeal and wearing his clothes, preferably in his bed.
Cold Making Warmth by sheafrotherdon
Steve settles upon the few things he knows for sure: that the days are short, and it’s cold, and he doesn’t mind looking dumb for making the effort. So screw the protocol, whether it exists or not – he’s giving gifts.
Apparently, Tony finds his lack of holiday cheer damn near offensive.
Avengers Mansion has a mysterious feline infestation. Meanwhile, Steve just can’t figure out how to ask Tony out on a date. And the thirteen teleporting cats sure aren’t helping matters any.
America’s Golden -Boy- Retriever by Amuly
The Avengers wake up one morning to find they all have ears and tails. Some of the animals that are a part of them are obvious, but some of them are more… odd. Much to Tony’s infinite amusement, of course.

Five Times Steve Fell in the Water by RurouniHime
Steve is awfully clumsy.

hooked on you by theappleppielifestyle
"I’m sorry,” Steve says miserably, but Tony holds up a hand.
“Whoa, hey, no, not your fault, kid. Um.” Tony drops the hand, because Steve had started looking at his wrist, the mapwork of veins. “So what, it’s like, you open your eyes first thing after getting vamped and, boom, Imprint?”
“What?” Steve frowns again. “Tony, no. I’m not a baby duck.”

Not just a river in Egypt (Tony is most certainly not in denial) by theoddoodisnude
“You are most definitely not in love with me, Cap, what you are experiencing is called cabin pressure,” Tony explains, because he has a rational train of thought and he’s met enough shrinks to have figured out their tactics by now. “And possibly, you know, sexual frustration, because it doesn’t matter at all that you’re, like, America’s national icon, Fury still won’t let you out. I know that, I see that, I acknowledge your pain, I feel with you, Cap, believe me, I do. And I get it, because I am a very good-looking fellow and we spend a lot of time together, stuck in this tower, and it’s easy to–”
“I am,” Steve cuts off, equal parts amused and frustrated and concerned. “In love. With you. Tony, I’m in love with you.”
Tony’s gone down on one knee, fussing with one of the heavy-duty boots, and Steve’s going to say something. But there are already knuckles smacking the side of his leg, and he’s lifting it without thinking.

the best thing (is that it’s happening to you and me) by shieldmaidenofrohan
Or, five times the team saw Steve Rogers and Tony Stark in love.
Here, Tonight by MusicalLuna ( @musicalluna ): Steve’s been making plans, but after a rough battle he decides he can’t wait anymore.
Strangers Now by FestiveFerret ( @festiveferret ): Back in elementary school, Tony Stark was Steve’s whole world school until Tony’s parents packed up and moved him to LA. Steve hasn’t seen him in ten years, and then he bumps into the kid living in the dorm room across the hall - and it’s Tony.
But Tony doesn’t remember Steve.
Better than a Bodyguard by ashes0909 ( @ashes0909 ): Steve was making his way from the quad to a small, stony alcove to escape the sun when he heard someone sniffling.
They Call Me Dad by fandomfrolics ( @fandomfrolics ): The team’s taken to calling Tony by a very strange nickname and he’s a little afraid to find out why.
the shield’s a metaphor by fantalaimon: Steve does his best, Tony thinks too much, they both have a lot of feelings, and it all works out pretty well.
Here Comes The Sun by lazywriter7 ( @lazywriter7 ): “Cap, I think there’s been a-”
I, Steve clamped down on his miserable anxiety with characteristic anger, am not going to fuck this up.
“My favourite colour is blue.” Steve interjected, because screw charm and suaveness and everything else, he was going to do this on the power of sheer determination.
When Our Day Comes by thepartyresponsible: “Damn, Rogers,” Tony says, “did Lady Liberty teach you to kiss like that?“
Steve blinks at him. He’s always been distracting. He has always been the kind of beautiful that can break necks when he walks into a room. But this close, the view is downright devastating. Tony’s eyes drop to Steve’s mouth, red and wet, and he almost forgets how breathing works.
“Well,” Steve says, after a beat, “she is French.”
A Quiet Morning by navaan ( @navaanwrites ): Some magic gives Steve a view of naked Tony and cause for a confession.
The Road To Where You Are by izazov ( @izazov ): Happiness is not something reserved solely for other people. It takes some time for Steve to accept that truth.
Five Times Steve Hugged Tony and One Time Tony Returned the Favor by cookinguptales: A relationship told through hugs.
When You Can’t Sleep by khaleesikraken: Tony’s away on a business trip for Stark Industries, and Steve can’t sleep without the light from his arc reactor.
The Little Things Give You Away by ashinan: Taking care of Tony isn’t as difficult as Steve initially thought. It’s a matter of learning his habits, mapping out his movements, and constructing individual plans on the fly.
In My Dreams … by Annehiggins: Sometimes Tony missed the old days when he disliked Steve because, for the record, pining really sucked. But Pepper has an idea of how he can let Steve know how he feels without risking their friendship.
the curve of you fits perfectly in the curve of me by shell-heads (chocopies) ( @shell-heads ): When Tony adds a specially brewed Asgardian mixture into it to make sure Steve gets drunk-"Trust me, Cap, you’ll be so drunk after this you won’t even know your name,”-he really doesn’t have much of a choice left; he takes their challenge head on and drinks half the tankard in one go. Sure enough, it works. The only problem?
Steve’s head over heels for Tony Stark, a handsy drunk, and more than just a little into the way Tony’s shorter than him.
Favorite by CapnShellhead: Steve challenges himself to be Tony’s favorite Avenger.
Get me through December by marinarusalka: Steve is in Washington. Tony is in New York. Somehow, they still manage to make a connection, which comes in handy when Steve gets depressed around Christmas.
Jan Van Crime! by MemoryDragon ( @memorydragon ): Jan is upset about the new Ant-Man movie that she doesn’t feature in, and she plans to become a Super Villainess to make herself more relevant. It also means making a new outfit, which she is super excited for. Carol and Tony want to help cheer her up, while T'Challa agrees that diversity in movies and merchandise is a worthy cause.
Steve would be all on board as well, but turning to super-villainy is not the answer. Neither is Tony being Jan’s love interest. Definitely not Tony being Jan’s love interest. Both are valid points of concern.
Oh, Purrfect (Or Alternatively “Damn it, Richards!”) by inukagome15 ( @inukagome15 ): Of course it was all Richards’s fault. If Tony can get through this with his dignity intact, then it’s all good. What? No, he’s not purring!
sambar and scaffolding by seventymilestobabylon: Steve ran away from SHIELD when they unfroze him and then accidentally ended up in the same cooking class as Tony Stark.
The Captain and the Prince by Penumbren: Steve has had a crush on Tony for years. Captain Rogers heads up the castle guard when Prince Anthony returns from his studies abroad. What’s a poor captain of the guard to do when his past crashes into his present?
Five Impossible Things by thistlethorns ( @kienu ): It starts with an offer of marriage. Specifically, brave knight Steven has been sent to ask a fairy’s hand in marriage on behalf of his king. Said fairy does not like this.
For Sentimental Reasons by BlossomsintheMist (Ultimates)
Summary: Ultimates Steve and Tony have hard lives–and they end up relaxing together. It turns into a habit. Non-sexual submission with service top Steve and sub Tony.
Why you should read it: Honestly it feels like this fic was written as a gift from the universe (or from BlossomsintheMist) to me personally because service tops are literally my favorite people in the universe and I whole-heartedly believe that Steve is one (well, usually, they like to switch it up okay). The writing is beautiful, Steve and Tony are in love, it’s amazing. I want to live in this fic forever.
The Road to the Grail is Paved with Hermits by Lenalena for Ellidfics (MCU)
Summary: Steve has gotten himself stuck in the Middle Ages and he is desperately waiting to be rescued. After more than a year, he hears about a red and gold flying demon that has dared all of King Arthur’s knights to come challenge it. He hopes this means that Iron Man has come for him, so that all he needs to do is find Tony and get out of this place. Should be simple. Tony didn’t even know where he would end up, when he went after Steve. It’s not been an easy adjustment for him, to put it mildly. And once he has figured out how to find Steve in this primitive shit show, how the hell is going to get him back home? Sir Thomas Malory meets Monty Python, with more hermits than any sensible story needs.
Why you should read it: (I wasn’t sure whether to share this on fluff day or angst day and settled on fluff because, while there is angst, there’s also humor, idk.) So this is HILARIOUS and perfect. It has plot AND character development AND feels AND jokes. What more could you ask for?
There is No Place Like Home for the Holidays by Lenalena (MCU)
Summary: Steve is the first to come home to the tower after S.H.I.E.L.D. goes down. Then Natasha and Clint arrive. Tony doesn’t mind, really, he’s got the space. Except it’s December and they insist on doing Christmassy shit. Who the hell has time for that?!? Christmas 5 - Tony 0
Why you should read it: I know it’s July and everything but. Look, I don’t even celebrate Christmas, so if anything it being featured prominently in a fic makes me skeptical rather than excited. But this right here is the quality New York City Christmas schmaltz! Ice skating at Rockefeller Center! Buying chestnuts off the street! Tony decorating cookies to look like the other Avengers! Plus lots of thoughtful character details, like Steve going to midnight mass.
You Know How to Give by brandnewfashion (MCU)
Summary: Steve was one of very few people who knew that the real Tony Stark was thoughtful and selfless, and genuinely cared about others. The problem? The man was absolute shit at showing it.
Why you should read it: Fluff with a side of plot, humor, and character development. The pacing and structure is really well-done, and I love all the dialogue.
Out for a Spin by Neverever (MCU)
Summary: Tony goes to a car show with Steve but he’s never sure if they’re talking about cars or maybe something else.
Why you should read it: This is SO cute and funny. Steve is sassy and clever and sweet and smitten. I love subtext that is just… not even subtext any more. Fortunately for Steve, so does Tony. (Also, you definitely don’t need to know anything about cars to enjoy this fic because I know as little is possible to know about them. I’m not even that good at driving them.)

The Future Is Yet In Your Power by FestiveFerret (MCU, 14926 words)
Summary: "Now." Wong leaned back in his chair. "What would you do to save this world from Thanos' attack? What would you sacrifice?"
"Anything," Steve said. "Anything at all."
Wong considered him for a moment, expression unreadable. "There's one thing, maybe."
Comment: IW/CW-Fix-It. I really love everything about this, the whole time-travel plot, Steve taking that burden, seeing the events of the first Avengers movie again through his eyes, every single scene between Steve and Tony. Just well done all around.

Art by Sakubows (616)
Comment: Very very cute inversion/SIM-Fix-It. Awww.
When Tony learns of the incursions, he knows one thing. If there is any chance of stopping them, he has to work with Steve. Luckily, Steve agrees.
(Comment: This is per-fec-tion. Perfect balance between angst and beautiful, heartbreaking, sweet moments between these two halves of a whole.
Tony in a nutshell: “Steve hating him was better than Steve dead.” (How sad and tragic is this quote?!)
The length he’s willing to go, to suffer through for the sake of keeping Steve alive is something that defines (laireshi’s) Tony. (You make him suffer so beautifully, @laireshi.) He’d destroy planets, hate himself for it and somehow live with Steve hating him just so his “better half” survives. Anything but Steve dying. He can’t take that. Not again. He’ll sacrifice himself gladly without a second thought.
^Just rambling about laireshi’s Tony in general. Not specifically this story, since this is a fix-it.
This fic was very soothing to my wounded soul, after reading the comics. I needed that so much. Thank you!)
Engineering Miracles by laireshi
The Infinity Gems reappearing is really the sort of thing a Sorcerer Supreme should investigate, and if it involves crossing universes, so much the better. Maybe Tony will finally find an alternate self who hasn’t made a complete ruin of his life.
And then Sorcerer Supreme Tony Stark finds himself on Earth-616.
(Comment: I love this one so much.
@ purely MCU fans: It is Stevetony but there’s also Sorcerer Supreme Tony Stark/Victor von Doom. Just give it a try if you’re curious or read “Invincible Iron Man” by Bendis first/afterwards. (For the art, for Tony and Tony being low-key obsessed with Victor “suddenly [being] very handsome”?!)
Emergency Protocol by laireshi
Falling in love with Tony Stark has always been easy. That he’s an artificial intelligence now changes nothing. Luckily, Tony will always catch him.
The incursions are stopped. Steve hopes for things to go back to normal. Instead, he finds himself stranded in an alternate universe with Tony.
Getting home won’t be easy. There are too many things they haven’t told each other, too many arguments they’ve never solved.
Now, with just each other for company, they might have to face them all—especially as they seem to be telepathically bonded, and can’t keep anything unsaid anymore.
It was just a dream, Tony thinks, and ignores the gut feeling telling him otherwise. He really must have fallen asleep, and it was all just a dream, he didn’t betray Steve like that …
On Due Reflection by captainshellhead, vibraniumstark
Fed up with secrets, with the Illuminati between them, Steve and Tony aren’t on the best of terms. A chance encounter with an alternate reality’s versions of themselves sets things back on the right path.

if I time it right, the thunder breaks (when I open my mouth) by nanasekei
Summary: “You know,” Tony mumbles, because Tony never stops talking. “When you say shit like - like that, it’s… It’s hard.” His voice is slurred now, his eyes closed, as if he’s not even sure he’s still saying anything aloud. “Because I know I should believe you, but I – I wanna believe it so bad, so fucking much, that it feels like I shouldn’t. Like, the second I believe it, the other shoe’s gonna drop, and you’re gonna find out you don’t mean it.”-Or: Five Times Steve told Tony he loved him, and one time he didn’t need to.

Comment: JARVIS lives!!! And it’s JARVIS pov!
Taking the Plunge, a Stitch at a Time by janonny
Summary: Being a fugitive was not going to stop Steve from meeting with Tony to fix what happened between them. He just needed to avoid getting caught, which was a lot more complicated when New York was under attack. What Steve needed was a quick disguise so that he could help without being recognized…Excerpt: His T-shirt was hanging in tatters and even his pants were badly ripped from the trip through the glass window and the spider’s attack. It was a spot of good luck that he had crashed into some sort of costume shop then, Steve realized as he looked around. There were all kinds of clothing everywhere, mainly black and in some sort of fake leather.
Comment: NOMAD STEVE.

CA:CW Fix-Its:

almeno tu nell'universo by silkspectred ( @silkspectred ): Tony drives off.
Well, he wants to. But he can’t. Because. Steve Rogers is in front of his car.
Steve fucking Rogers. Is in front of Tony’s fucking car.
shelter from the storm by silkspectred ( @silkspectred ): Tony adopts a baby. Guess who’s Majorly Fucked Up™ about it.
Better in Time by sheron ( @sheronwrites ): Tony doesn’t call until there’s live footage of Steve going down in a hail of bullets. Steve misses his call.
Evidence of Things Unsaid by sheron ( @sheronwrites ): The Avengers (and ex-Avengers) are forced to socialize at a PR event. Why is there never a monster around to attack New York when you need one?
Mailbox Full series by RurouniHime ( @thegertie ): Tony bypasses into the mailbox every time. It drives Steve absolutely nuts.
Eigengrau by vorkosigan ( @the-vorkosigan ): Tony is captured; he doesn’t know by whom, or why. He doesn’t know how much time has passed since. What he knows is, he can now hear something in the adjacent cell, and that ‘something’ sounds a lot like Steve Rogers.
Recognize Fate (A Dramedy of Manners) by vorkosigan ( @the-vorkosigan ):
During the horror that was the Infinity War, Tony has somehow managed to fall in love with Steve. No, really, his timing’s always been stellar, in all things. He would like to pursue his feelings, he would; only, this doesn’t mesh so well with his other resolution: Steve must never ever know.
It’s been a year since the victory, and the time has come to celebrate. Everyone is about to meet again at a big gala.
Another Chance (The Complete Honesty Remix) by laireshi ( @laireshi ):
Steve and Tony talk about what happened in Siberia. The only issue? Steve’s under the influence of truth serum, and Tony’s forced to accept his answers.
i have found the one (whom my soul loves) by soniclipstick (veriscence) ( @soniclipstick ): It’s been months since the Avengers were pardoned. One by one, they’d all gone home, until Steve finds himself alone in the grand old building T'Challa had given them.
But everything changes when Steve answers the doorbell, and Tony Stark strides in with more grey on his temple and make-up on his face than Steve remembers.
like taking poison and waiting for the other person to die by cptxrogers ( @cptxrogers ): Tony is still furious at Steve over the events of Civil War. But when Steve gets kidnapped using Stark technology, Tony feels responsible and figures out a plan to save him - by getting kidnapped himself.
Something Missing by Neverever ( @captainneverever ): Steve is in Wakanda working for T'Challa. But he knows he’s been away from home for too long when he finds out that Tony’s shaved off his goatee and he has to talk to someone about it. Back in New York, Tony is trying to move on. He wonders who made the nice post on an Avengers forum about missing his goatee.
never thought, but knew by navaan ( @navaanwrites ): A man waits for him in a dark corridor. But it can’t be Steve, because he’s on the other side of the world.
Infinity War Fix-Its:
The Future is Yet in Your Power by FestiveFerret ( @festiveferret ): "Now.“ Wong leaned back in his chair. "What would you do to save this world from Thanos’ attack? What would you sacrifice?”
“Anything,” Steve said. “Anything at all.”
Wong considered him for a moment, expression unreadable. “There’s one thing, maybe.”
live wire by spqr: The marks are a welcome distraction. The media fixates on them, the mystery of them, because it’s a lot less daunting to think about big thumbprints on your back or your side or your thigh than to think about how the planet’s population just dropped from 7 to 3.5 billion overnight.
(as a side effect of Thanos’ culling, everyone who’s left gets a soulmark)
This Is How They Win by janonny: In the aftermath of Thanos’ actions, Tony is convinced that this isn’t the end of the fight. Not yet. Doctor Strange had told him the only way to win the war, and Tony is going to follow through. No matter what.
Rewriting The Universe by itsallAvengers ( @itsallavengers ): Thanos won. There’s ash in the air. Earth is burning and there’s no hope, no salvation, no nothing.
Of course, that’s before Steve realizes Tony Stark is still alive and kicking.
End Is Just A New Beginning by izazov ( @izazov ): It has been a year since Thanos’ defeat.
616 Fix-Its:
Yours, Steve by soniclipstick (veriscence) ( @soniclipstick ): Tony has read the news, he’s seen footage of the infighting and the arrest and Steve’s bloody body on the courthouse steps. He might not remember, but he understands why Steve can barely look him in the eye anymore.
But there’s a ring on the chain of a set of dog tags that have no business being in Tony’s safe. And it fits his finger perfectly.
Highest fall you’ll ever grace by laireshi ( @laireshi ): “You’ll probably want these back,” Tony says at last, and it hurts almost physically to pull the dog tags over his head and offer them to Steve. But they never really belonged to Tony, did they?
Steve seems to hesitate for a second, but then he takes his dog tags with a weird expression. “Yeah,” he says. “They’re mine.”
The Razor’s Edge by love_in_the_stars: Steve overhears a conversation between Peter and Tony. What he learns explains everything that happened to cause the Civil War and as it turns out, nothing was like he thought.
AU Civil War era where the reasons behind the SHRA were different from the comics and Tony was the only one who knew the truth.
Better This Time by nightwalker ( @onemuseleft ): It had been two years without Tony at his side and his back, two years nursing a resentment and an anger that had refused to fade. It was time to move on, and Steve didn’t want to do it alone.
Compass Points You Home by foldingcranes ( @foldingcranes ): Dear Sharon, Steve thinks, almost with maddening euphoria, stumbling over some rocks as the waves lap at him and his body finally gives itself to shock. You’re not going to believe what happened today.
Then, he passes out.
Your Name on Every Wall by Sineala (616)
Summary: The Time Gem throws Steve into the past rather than the future, and in doing so, it gives him the opportunity to undo his past mistakes. But when it turns out that all of his mistakes involve Tony Stark, Steve begins to wonder if he’s ever going to be able to mend things between them.
Why you should read it: This is so beautiful and thorough and fixes everything. I love, love, love the premise of this as well as how it ends up being structured, and the execution is masterful.
Dear Tony, by sirona (MCU)
Summary: Once the dust after what no one is referring to as “The Break-up” has settled, Steve starts writing and doesn’t seem to know how to stop.
Why you should read it: This is an epistolary fix-it and y’all know I am weak for epistolary fic. The character voices are wonderful, the build-up is excellent, and the pay-off has me cackling with delight.
I’ve Seen You In The World (Series) by skyline (MCU)
Summary for part 1: With a pint-sized sneaker dangling somewhere near his nose, and another jabbed into his collar bone, Tony takes out the phone Steve gave him. Nearly punching the buttons, he types, Vision made my kitchen smell like Staten Island and Clint’s kid is nesting on my face. I need you to stop being a child and come home. (Or, Tony abuses the bat phone.)
Summary for part 2: Pepper’s getting married. Tony’s dealing with that about as well as everyone expected.
Why you should read it: This is so sharp and funny and sweet. All the characters are here and everyone gets to work things out and be hilarious and badass along the way and I love it.
I Was A Fool by aslightstep (MCU)
Summary: Or: the five times Steve and Tony saved each other, and the one time they didn’t.
Why you should read it: Beautiful angst and pain that resolves itself beautifully, too.
Two Roads Diverged (series) by RurouniHime (MCU)
Summary for part 1: His eyes haven’t adjusted and it’s too dark to see Steve’s expression. In which there is a farm, a porch at night, and two kinds of grief.
Summary for part 2: It’s been sixteen days since Tony gave up this gig. Sixteen days since Tony signed over the Avengers to him, officially or not. Since Tony left. In which there is broken training equipment and a lot of bottling up.
Summary for part 3: He’s no longer certain this will tear them apart. But now that the moment’s here, it’s very hard to shape the words. In which there are apologies, revelations, and a decision.
Why you should read it: This isn’t labeled a fix-it, and it takes place after Age of Ultron rather than Civil War. But we can all agree that Age of Ultron, um, needs fixing, right? This is Steve facing the way he was written totally out of character the way he acted in that movie and the consequences of it all. Clint and Wanda deal with repercussions too. This is really lovely and much-needed.
A couple of favourite Marvel 616 Incursions Fix-its:
Hope of Morning by magicasen (34,017 words)
Summary: Incursions. The Illuminati. Rogue planets and mindwipes, Dyson Spheres and Worldkillers. Ask Tony Stark to list all the wrongs he’s ever committed, and he wouldn’t even know where to begin. But when the Watcher dies and the secrets of the entire universe come to light, Tony discovers his greatest sin is one he chose to forget.(AU from Original Sin #2)
Why I love it: A feelings explosion as Steve and Tony deal with The Betrayal.
Belief Space by magicasen (59,795 words)
Summary: The Time Gem appears not when it is wanted, but when it is needed. Steve learns this the hard way.(Or: an Infinity #6 AU where Thane refuses his birthright and the Avengers are doomed - until the Time Gem shows up within Captain America’s grasp.)
Why I love it: Oh look, another feelings explosion. Can incursion fix-its be done any other way? :) I love how Steve finds out the truth here.
616 characters find another universe’s Cap (who is Tony):
Find Yourself Some Truth (Carrying the Shield) by navaan (32,831 words)
Summary: The incursions left something behind: A block of ice with another Captain America inside of it - out of time and now of universe. But the greatest surprise might be that it’s not another Steve Rogers under the mask. Steve reaches out to Tony to help another Captain America through the worst of waking up, but not everything is as it seems.
Why I love it: Cap!Tony by himself is worth reading for, because he is a combination of Cap and Tony traits that’s just fascinating. But there’s more to this story that I can’t spoil and I just think it’s awesome.
A recent CW-fix it which is actually an MCU/Marvel 616 crossover:
Distortion by laireshi (14,852 words)
Summary: After the end of Infinity War, MCU Tony finds himself on Earth-616. Facing alternate universe Steve and Tony who are still recovering from their own disaster, he gets ideas on how to save his world and maybe even fix his relationship with Steve.
Why I love it: It’s hard to get MCU and 616 Tony characterizations right in one story, because they’re similar and yet distinct. I love the way it’s handled here. Also the parallels between the Incursions arc in 616 and MCU’s Civil War are always fun!
A recent CW-fix it which is a wonderful take on Nomad costume in MCU:
Taking the Plunge, a Stitch at a Time by janonny (52,005 words)
Summary: Being a fugitive was not going to stop Steve from meeting with Tony to fix what happened between them. He just needed to avoid getting caught, which was a lot more complicated when New York was under attack. What Steve needed was a quick disguise so that he could help without being recognized…
Why I love it: This story is a joy. A JOY. It is at the top of my Pick-Me-Up list, and it’s just sweet and hilarious in turns, with lovely angst currents running through. A favourite! ❤️
A post-Infinity War Fix-It I loved reading:
give me some time, I’m living in twilight by oh_simone (1,938 words)
Summary: A spaceship carrying the survivors from Titan lands in Wakanda, and Tony Stark is not on it.
Why I love it : This is just a unique premise for a fix it of The Snap that everyone needs to read! Gen with heavy Steve/Tony overtones.
A New Way For Us by @stark-spangled-lovers (Rated: M)
They fight Thanos—and they’re losing. And before Tony knows what’s happening, he’s standing with Doctor Strange in front of the Eye of Agamotto and gets send back in time. Can he find a way to fix things this time around, or are they doomed to fall apart all over again?
A really lovely time-travel fix it, where Tony gets tossed back in time to prevent how things unfolded in CA:CW. I adore Tony’s re-examination of every interaction not just between himself and Steve, but also the rest of the Avengers, and It’s interesting to watch and see how Tony decides to make different choices.
Saturn Ascends (Comes Round Again) by @allthemarvelousrage (Rated: T)
His skin is steaming slightly in the air, smoke rising from his fingertips in lazy, thin swirls, and over the black material of the flight suit he woke up in, right where his RT disk contours his chest, is a silver-blue Phoenix emblem spread bold and proud.
He stares at it for a long time, touches it gingerly, traces the lines. “Okay,” he says, disbelieving and incredulous. “What the fuck?”
(In which Tony Stark wakes up from his coma, becomes a Phoenix host, discovers all is not right in Star-Spangled Man Land, and decides to do something about it. Post-Hydra Cap fix it.)
One of my favourite Hydra!Cap fix-its, Tony rises from the ashes only to realize that things are not as they seem with Steve… I had the pleasure of watching this piece come to fruition, and @allthemarvelousrage did a fantastic job with it.
Every Damn Day by @musicalluna (Rated: T)
The longer his relationship with Tony has gone on, the more Steve wishes he’d gotten the chance to sock Howard Stark in the nose.He finally gets his chance.
(In which Steve gets to punch Howard in the face for his boyfriend. Time-travel wish fulfillment in the best of ways, fluffy with a splash of angst. With added bonus Aunt Peggy.)
The Adventure of Steve Rogers: Rebirth by @summerpipedream and @naferty(Rated: T)
Steve can admit he kept a few secrets from his teammate. To be fair, Tony kept a few of his own. Steve just didn’t realize the extent of those secrets until a time traveler from Tony’s past was thrown on his floor.
Apparently, someone decided that he didn’t know his teammate well enough either until he was very literally, and unwillingly, thrown into the past to see it for himself.
(Gonna do some self promo and drop @naferty and my CA:CW fix it/RDJ Holmes crossvover. Tony is Sherlock Holmes in this au, and thanks to some time travel fun, Steve gains a new perspective on the man he thought he once knew. Still a WIP but hopefully you enjoy it so far!)
Kiss-It-Better Saturday – all the hurt/comfort fanworks!
The Meaningless and All That's True by Missbecky (616, 36058 words)
Summary: In an attempt at tearing the Avengers apart, Doctor Doom sends Tony back in time and forces him to relive the superhero Civil War. When Steve finds him one night in the rain, they finally have the chance to talk about everything that happened between them. But regaining all those memories has driven Tony to the breaking point, and it might just be too late for a second chance.
Comment: Physical and emotional h/c doubling as a CW-Fix-It? Count me in. One of the first 616-fics I ever read and I still occasionally go and re-read if I'm in need of h/c.
Threshold Potential by Veldeia (AA, 4782 words)
Summary: Tony finds out the hard way that some of the most dangerous creatures in the Savage Land are not enormous and scaly. Bingo fill for the prompt “locked in”.
Comment: A lovely little AA scenario where Tony can't move or talk and Steve has to breath for him. Nice internal Tony voice.
Chasing the Shadows Away by Sineala (616, 1351 words)
Summary: Steve wants to help Tony, but it's a long time before either of them are ready.
Comment: Emotional h/c that deals with Tony's alcoholism and his ability to hold the darkness at bay (or not).
Art by Rin (MCU)
Comment: Awww. Really like Steve's pained expression here and how they gradually sink into the hug.
Art by Kaciart (MCU)
Comment: Post-IW comfort hug. Their positions in this are fascinating - Steve holding himself up on his thighs and enveloping Tony so that you can't even see Tony's face anymore.
Art by Ep (616?)
Summary: Tony laying his hand on the window and blinking back his tears and Steve standing behind Tony and hugging.
Comment: I love the muted greyscale of this, the only light coming from outside, and the quiet comfort in Steve's hug.
Deep in the Heart of Me by Finely Honed (jaqen_hgar): There were days when the realization that he was someone’s father made Steve’s head hurt, but mostly he was grateful that he could trust his instincts, because apparently, Peter was what had been missing from his life. Yes, he still had lingering unresolved issues from his time in the Army, and sure, he had what Bucky annoyingly referred to as a criminally untapped ass, and no life outside of work and Peter, but Steve was okay with how his life had turned out because of trusting his instincts.
Unfortunately, those same instincts had straight up betrayed him by going absolutely haywire upon being exposed to Tony Stark.
Hole in My Heart (That Goes All the Way to China) byMemoryDragon ( @memorydragon ): In which Steve is in stubborn denial and wants to shake some sense into Tony, Tony has a broken heart and wants to cheer Steve up, and pandas are cute and want bamboo.
Mine to Carry by MusicalLuna ( @musicalluna ): Steve cuts his hands up on the Iron Man armor and being unable to take care of himself is, to say the least, a struggle.
not without you by MusicalLuna ( @musicalluna ): Tony is a lot better at this than people give him credit for, and Steve was a lot more of a handful as a kid than anyone expected.
Put to Right by nightwalker ( @onemuseleft ): Tony’s had a rough day. Steve knows how to make things right again.
5 Times Tony Had Steve’s Back, and 1 Time Steve had Tony’s byitsallAvengers ( @itsallavengers ): As it turns out, Steve gets himself into a lot more shit than you would think. And for some reason, it’s always Tony who ends up saving his sorry ass.
Better Halves by Kiyaar ( @kiyaar ): Tony gets kidnapped. Steve does his best to get him back.
Deep Waters by AlchemyAlice: His power’s running low, the arc reactor flickering. Cold, rancid sewer water is rushing into the fissure at his torn up shoulder, filling up the gaps, rising along his neck in frigid fingers. He’s been like this before.
what you can’t give away you must carry with you by theappleppielifestyle:
When they’re almost in the car, one of the reporters get s a lucky shot and says something in between the cacophony that somehow isn’t overlapped by twenty different voices: “Today is the anniversary of Obadiah Stane’s tragic boating accident. You two were very close, family even- any comments on his passing?”
Tony stiffens. Steve wouldn’t have been able to notice if he wasn’t pressed up against his side, but he is and he does.
(Or, Tony tells Steve about Obadiah.)
Till Human Voices Wake Us, and We Drown by BlossomsintheMist ( @blossomsinthemist ): Tony still has nightmares, and it drives him crazy, because he should be done with this, it should be over, but it’s not, and he can’t control how they make him feel. Luckily, Steve understands a little bit about how that goes. Established relationship.
take your time by romanoff ( @writingromanoff ): 'one day Tony emerges from his workshop and realises, for the first time in his life, he’s surrounded by people. By friends who like him for him rather than his money. He’s only really had Rhodey and Pepper (and JARVIS and the bots) before. Cue panic.’
Sir Hugsalot by XtaticPearl ( @xtaticpearlsblog ): Tony wants to be a caring friend but sometimes it’s easier to create a bot to do it. Steve doesn’t seem to have the same idea.
Happenstance and all that by gottalovev ( @gottalovev ): It’s been six months since the Battle of New York and Tony is exhausted. The last thing he expected on Christmas’ Eve was to meet Steve Rogers again by accident, in Central Park.
Haywired by Winterstar: After Steve gets wounded in battle and then recovers, things change and Tony has to find out why. Or the one where Steve goes blind and then really weird things happen.
darling, your worth is in more than gold by shell-heads (chocopies) ( @shell-heads ): "I’m sorry about your hands,“ Tony says, and Steve laughs.
"Tony,” Steve tells him, quiet and plaintive as he spreads his bloody, bruised hands out. “I use these hands to draw something and it changes nothing. You use your hands, you could make a machine that saves an entire third world country halfway across the world.”
over by soniclipstick (veriscence) ( @soniclipstick ): It breaks Steve’s heart, that even when it’s all over and done with, it isn’t. Even when they put their weapons away and try to live the life and sleep in the bed that they now share, they’re still fighting a seemingly never-ending war on the home-front.
Thaw (The Lookin’ Through The Windows Remix) by Veldeia ( @veldeia ):
Sam isn’t sure whether he’s more worried for Steve, who’s gone missing in the cold, or for Tony, who seems to have lost his mind. (AA)
All the Tomorrows by Sineala ( @sineala ): When Tony, already badly injured, faces off against the Mandarin, Steve comes to Tony’s rescue. It’s their first mission since the two of them have gotten together, and Steve discovers that there are some unexpected new feelings he has to deal with. (616)
One Last Second Chance by Muccamukk ( @muccamukk ): Tony Stark, second newest engineer at Rhodes Labs International, is just trying to rebuild from the ruins of his failed company, vanished fortune, and struggles with alcoholism. His goals include keeping his head down, avoiding stress and convincing Dr. Rhodes to let him build a really cool robot, so why does the universe keep throwing Avengers in his path? (Earth 57289)
Cap-IM Sunday – for all the works created for our events
Stone, River, Wind by Arukou (comics!AU, 33956 words, RBB 2018)
Summary: Tonepheny has lived a terrible life ever since he was first captured and forced into servitude, but his new master is like no master he's ever known before. This strange hedge knight seems to actually care.
Comment: Nomad!Steve in a Fantasy-Fairytale-Mix! The worldbuilding in this one was fun, great read.
Trying to find the in-betweens by Gottalovev (MCU, 4338 words, Holiday Exchange 2016)
Summary: The Avengers might be broken up, but Steve can't stand idly by while someone is publicly threatening Tony's life.
Comment: One of my favourite post-CA:CW stories with bonus identity porn. Steve wants to protect Tony but can't reveal who is. So great.
Wonders of the World (The Keep Me Safe from Harm Remix) by Sineala (616, 9848 words, Remix-Exchange 2018)
Summary: Steve, America's top cop, meets Tony, in the middle of launching Resilient, in a hotel room in Seattle. There, Steve finds unexpected comfort in Tony's presence. It wasn't supposed to be an assignation. But then, a snowstorm wasn't supposed to strand them together, either.
Comment: I particularly love this for Steve's inner struggle with what he is doing with the Secret Avengers and for Tony's advice ("this isn't you, stop doing it"). And yet, they are also so comfortable and warm and funny with each other, too.
Ghosts of the Gilded Age by Teaberryblue (Comics AU/multiverse, 20692 words, Holiday-Exchange 2017)
Summary: In 1883 New York, Tony Stark, millionaire inventor, is a man of science, reason, and a sense of humor that other people sometimes even appreciate. That's why he has no time for the latest popular obsession with seances, the supernatural, and the afterlife. Until a ghost finds him.
Comment: Such a great AU - feels a bit noir-ish in terms of the Tony characterization, but is actually Victorian. Lovely plot and worldbuilding, love how the multiverse is used here, the open ending of Tony still having to meet his Steve.
Iron Man: The Watchers of the Moon by Ranoutofrun (ambiguous universe, Remix Madness 2017)
Summary: Will the moon ever be the peaceful passenger for our world again, will the alien menace be defeated, will the plot ever be resolved....? The idea continues....
Comment: Steve is a really good artist and apparently he has some ... favourite subjects. Or objects. :-D
The Great Reward by Fictionforlife (616-ish, Holiday Exchange 2014)
Summary: Because Tony doesn't always fight spine-chilling, blood-curdling villains. Sometimes it's an annoying sorcerer who has a knack for pink, a giant octopus that spurts constructive adhesive rather aggressively, hundreds of large orange balls that trap people inside and take them on a trip through space, or a human-tree who floods New York with mistletoes. It's both hilarious and annoying as hell, but it's still hard work. And hard work gets rewarded.
Comment: This is so deadpan and cute and I love the progression of expressions on Tony's face to bits.
Go Ask Friday by Politzania ( @polizwrites ): In a last-ditch effort to defeat Thanos, Tony finds himself in a somehow familiar waking dream. As he works his way through the story, confronted at every turn by those he thought were his friends, he can’t help but question everything about himself. ((Alice in Wonderland)
SteveTony in Wonderland by adarksweetness/maniibear (Alice in Wonderland, art) ( @maniibear )
A Good Man and a Villain by navaan ( @navaanwrites ): They had fought each other a couple of times. Iron Man was known to steal high-tech weapons whenever the opportunity arose and since he’d been taken to this hidden fortress on an island he had seen glimpses of a technological armory that could be used for world destruction.
Why then had Iron Man never really made a move against the Avengers? (BATB)
Beast of Brooklyn by enkiduu ( @en-ki-duu ): Tony looks at the Beast, examining him openly. He is not afraid, just surprised. And wary, of course. People are terrified of the Beast for a reason, and it’s not just because of the fur and the horns. (BATB)
Bound by Roses by Fluffypanda ( @ayapandagirl ): Steve wins the Beast in a card game and gets a bit more than he bargained for. (WIP) (BATB)
A Hand of Silver and A Glove of Silk by a_salty_alto ( @a-salty-alto ): Prince Steve goes searching door to door to find the mysterious man he danced with.

Lumpy Mattresses and Red-Faced Boys by SarahHBE ( @sarahhbe ): When Tony joins them for breakfast Sarah asks him why he is walking funny. Tony thinks his response is sly, Steve is embarrassed, and Sarah is full of surprises. (The Princess and the Pea)
Fill by Laireshi ( @laireshi ): “She cursed him,” Jan chimes in from where she’s sitting near two tablets, clearly also running scans on Steve. “Apparently we’ve got to make him smile to break him out of it.” (The Prince Who Could Not Laught)

A Kiss to Remember by Laireshi ( @laireshi ): Tony looks beautiful.
It’s not a new observation. Steve’s always aware of it at some low level of his consciousness. Tony’s tall and lean and strong, his eyes as bright as the sky and his smile more blinding than the sun. He’s gorgeous. Everyone knows that. Everyone can see that. (Sleeping Beauty)
Dragons and Curses and Kisses (Oh My!) by MarvelousMenagerie: When battling a witch, Steve finds himself drawn to a beautiful spinning wheel. Tony hates magic. (Sleeping Beauty)
Glass Coffin by Laireshi ( @laireshi ): Hydra Cap kisses a comatose Tony Stark to make him wake up. It doesn’t work. The story is different when it’s the real Steve Rogers who tries, though. (Snow White)
The Swan Prince by MarvelousMenagerie: Tony was only looking to have a small swim. He didn’t anticipate being surrounded by a bevy of swans, or that his protector would be another, much larger swan who brings Tony gifts of fish. But what swan has blue eyes? (The Swan Maiden)
The Pretty Fluttering Thing by dreamkist: Steve’s eyes were drawn to a coat draped over a low branch. The coat was bright white with a white feather collar. It was pristine. He didn’t know how that shade of pure white could exist. Steve imagined the man wearing it–his golden skin and dark hair would be a contrast to the white feathers–he would be beautiful in it. (The Swan Maiden, series)
Love Drunk Punch by justanotherpipedream ( @summerpipedream ): Steve hated coming to these parties. However no matter how much he wanted to, as the God of Spring, he couldn’t just skip out on the biggest Spring Equinox party of the year. Things get much more interesting when the infamous God of the Underworld makes his appearance.
Hades and Persephone, or in this case, Tony and Steve. (WIP, Hades and Persephone)

Prince Lindworm by SarahHBE ( @sarahhbe ): Unable to have a child, a queen takes the advice of a strange man. But by not heeding his warning she has twins - a beautiful baby boy and a horrible lindworm. Years later, when the prince goes off to find a wife his attempts to leave the kingdom are thwarted by the lindworm, who, as the oldest, demands a bride before his younger brother. (Prince Lindworm)
With This Red Thread You’ll Know by navaan ( @navaanwrites ): That one thread will mean much to you. It will tangle and stretch and you will strain it to the verge of cutting it, but like the others it won’t break. This might just be your marriage thread.
Tony waits for the right person, but what does it take for him to trust that he found them? (Red Thread)
Butterfly Dreams by Teyke (MCU)
Summary: In one world, Tony and Steve are newlyweds, trying to make the most of their honeymoon. Too bad about the incredibly inconvenient timing of earthquakes, volcanoes, and supervillains…In another, Steve’s just gotten Bucky back, and the Accords have been struck down. But the fractures the Accords caused haven’t healed, and Tony has vanished from the face of the earth. The problem? It’s the same Steve. When he falls asleep in one life, he wakes in the other. Unless he can figure out which life is real, both are at risk.
Why you should read it: HOLY SHIT WOW. I just read this for the first time after seeing it on someone else’s rec list of fix-its and I am so glad I did. What a ride! This has plot and feelings and smut and parts where I gasped out loud.
How to Fall In Love (in Four Easy Steps) by morphia (MCU)
Summary: Tony and Pepper’s relationship is open, with only one clear rule: they must never let the other catch them with a fling. Soon after the events of The Avengers, Tony finally uses his license to sleep with others–with Steve. And Steve knows that their sexual encounters are intended to be strictly casual, but that doesn’t stop him from falling hopelessly, stupidly in love.Or: What if they were actually banging behind the scenes?
Why you should read it: Ahhh, even when these two manage to go about things a bit better, they’re still unable to actually communicate properly! This is hot and wonderful and very well-paced. And is sort of a Civil War fix-it, too.
Inbox by kayura_sanada (MCU)
Summary: Steve asks Tony to keep in touch with him after they defeat Ultron. Tony has issues actually putting in such deliberate effort. OR In which Steve’s inbox starts circling around one particular subject.
Trigger warning: Mention of statutory rape
Why you should read it: Eeee, I love epistolary stuff! This wraps up some issues I had with Age of Ultron, among other things. It’s a great get-together fic with really believable character voices.
More Than Skin Deep by Sineala (616)
Summary: Tony can just about accept the fact that he and Steve were kidnapped and replaced by Skrulls for three months. But what he can’t figure out is why none of the Avengers noticed. And what he really can’t figure out is why none of their teammates will tell them what the Skrulls did while they were gone.
Why you should read it: Ahhh this is just a lovely, well-written story. It’s both cute and funny. (With a bit of second-hand embarrassment.)
