Masterlist of Cap-IM Stevetony Spotify Playlists
Welcome to the new music corner of the Cap-IM community!
Listening to music while you create Stevetony works and making your own playlists to accompany certain fics can be an important or enjoyable part of the process for many fans. We're hopefully going to make this easier for you with our brand-new Spotify account! While you need to sign up for an account to use Spotify, there is a free tier available.
A series of public Stevetony playlists have been created to start things off, divided into three themes: universe, event and mood playlists. If you would like us to add another playlist, please either comment on this post with the name (i.e. please can you make a Stevetony coffee shop AU playlist) or email us the same at cap.im.mods@gmail.com.
You can click on the Cap-IM profile directly to see the playlists and subscribe to them so that they appear at the bottom of your left sidebar, along with all the others you've added to your own account.
The playlists are all collaborative, which means that a Spotify user who clicks on any of the links below can add songs. They are currently stubs, and we encourage you to add to them and share your music tastes with the community! If you don't want to add songs directly, you can also comment Stevetony-themed songs on this post and we'll add them to the appropriate playlist for you. We welcome music of all types, in all languages!
When you add a song on Spotify, you also have the option of hopping over to our editable spreadsheet of playlist songs, which also has a column for why you think that a certain song is great for inspiring a certain Stevetony mood! Maybe it was a specific line, maybe the rhythm—whatever it is, we'd love to hear about it! This is also an easy way for people without a Spotify account to see all of the songs that are currently on the playlists.
Lastly, we welcome people posting links to their own Stevetony playlists in the comments as well. It's a great way to be inspired and discover new songs and artists.

Don't take it as a sign that Steve and Tony don't deserve happy times together, haha (and please do add to that one, as it is very much a stub right now).

We have now got an image up for all the cap-im playlists :)

A few problems with the links:
The "Hickmanvengers Playlist" link goes to the Extremis playlist.
The "Infinity War Playlist," "Secret Empire Playlist," and "Stevetony Happy Times Playlist" links seem to be broken.

They've all been updated!
We look forward to you adding your own music when you have the time :)

I definitely have some stuff to add to a few of these lists, but since you don't have one for SIM yet, may I present: Superior Iron Man: Most fun I ever had

Thanks for those additions! We are happy to create more playlists (for example divide Civil War into 616 and MCU Civil War?) if you feel like there's still lots of ground to be covered, but you are of course welcome to share your own masterpieces as well.

Re: New Playlist Added
Currently empty, it's waiting for everyone who's seen the movie so far to fill it with music that encompasses all the ~feels~ you may have
Re: New Playlist Added
Non-spotify-users can also see the songs more easily through the spreadsheet

(Anonymous) 2019-04-20 07:52 pm (UTC)(link)The AA playlist was totally empty when I opened it, which was a shame, but also gave me complete freedom to shape the playlist however I wanted it. AA is fun and adventure-y and lighthearted, but the best part is the completely healthy and loving relationship Steve and Tony have in it. Since even the AA wiki thinks they're married, I knew what the theme would be: their wedding playlist! It came out jazz-y because I love jazz.
Next, I saw that the 1872 playlist was a stub, and that just wouldn't do. Songs about drinking were a must, so in went One Scotch, Lilac Wine (I even found one version sung by a guy for max homo), and When I Get Low. Now, you may be wondering why two electro swing songs, Lone Digger and Geraldine's Routine, got in. I'm wondering that myself. They just? Fit?? Lone Digger at least has murderous undertones, but Geraldine's Routine I have no justification for. They just make me think of 1872 somehow. It's the kind of songs that would play if they tried to infiltrate a bar, with Steve trying to do his job and Tony trying to get in his pants. Does that make sense? After that was Stardust and Danny Boy for Reasons (I mean Angst) and then I remembered, oh yeah, cowboy musicals! How could I forget about those?? The Deadwood Stage is the opening song for Calamity Jane, so I felt it would get us all in the mood for some cowboys and latent homosexuality. Lida Rose/Will I ever Tell You is gorgeous, and also fits. A few more musical numbers fit the bill, and I'm still debating whether I want to add Bless Your Beautiful Hide or not. It would hilarious.
I'd love to hear other people's reasons as well! You can also chat with everyone on the 616 server; we stayed up late once as we added songs in a frenzy.
Reasoning for song picks
The mod who put together the initial playlists would like to confess that the reason for the AA playlist being blank is that they’ve only seen a couple of episodes, so considered it better left to those who could make a better assessment. Additionally, choosing happy songs (with happy lyrics, not just songs that were upbeat) was a bit of a challenge—it’s so much easier to find fitting angsty songs!
In general, sometimes there were songs that had fantastically fitting titles, but the rhythm and lyrics didn’t suit so they were discarded, and songs that were otherwise suited but had multiple mentions of “girlfriend” or “my girl” etc. were avoided.
If anyone is interested in the reasoning behind choosing a specific song in any of the playlists (or the placement of a song in a particular playlist as opposed to another) you are welcome to ask here!
