Summary: Three years after Dr. Doom cast the entire island of Manhattan into the dark depths of the Echo Bazaar, life goes on. The people of Lowered Manhattan, including the Avengers, have adapted as best they could to their shadowy new existence. But then the Avengers find themselves in possession of a mysterious locked box that could save them all -- if it doesn't kill Tony first.
AN: Written for c_im_bigbang. This fic is a crossover with the Echo Bazaar game, but you don't need to be familiar with the game in order to follow the story. Conveniently, this story also fills the "Wild card: possession/mind control" square on my hc_bingo card and the "Fictional crossover" square on my fanbingo card.

Continuity note: Takes place shortly after the New Avengers "Breakout" storyline. So no Sentry yet, and no Extremis for Tony yet. Also, I'm damned if I can remember when Jessica Drew became a Skrull in canon, but she isn't one here.
