Hey folks! Still updating daily, just posting to let people know that something big is going down in the infamous Chapter 153, which is getting posted in a couple days, so if you've been holding off getting started or haven't caught up in a while, it's a good time to do that!

Title: 1796 Broadway

Author/Artist: Tea Berry-Blue (Me!) and Rainproof
Universe: MCU
Pairings/Characters: Steve/Tony, Tony/Pepper, Secondary Bruce/Natasha, Steve, Tony, JARVIS, Natasha, Bruce, Clint, Rebecca Quan
Rating: PG-13, possibly veering into R on occasion for explicit language.
Warnings: Illness, Injury, Limited Mind Control, Discussions of drug/alcohol use/abuse, Discussions about animal abuse, discussions of suicide, construction accidents, car accidents, Money woes, Failing relationships, discussions of clinical depression, SPOILERS for all movies through IRON MAN 3
Word Count: 70,909
A/N: This is an ongoing epistolary serial in the classic sense of a serial, updated between 7 and 10 am Eastern Time daily with at least one new letter a day. For those of you who are hesitant to read "in-progress" fic-- this is a nearly-completed fic that is intended to be read serially, so no reason to worry that it's suddenly going to go belly-up. This is a mixed-media fic that occasionally includes comics, illustrations, etc.
Summary: Tony Stark likes to whine about other people eating his takeout. Steve Rogers can't type very fast and doesn't like screen glare. In an effort to be a good Team Captain, Steve demands that Tony put all his grievances in writing. On paper.

That was three months ago, and they're still exchanging letters. It's almost Christmas. Steve keeps getting turned away from the lab. They haven't blown up the universe...yet.

It's all on A03.

Newsletter ending 12-17-2013

This is the last newsletter of this (gregorian) calendar year, so we on the mod team would like to wish you all a very Happy and felicitous New Year! Also happy holidays if you celebrate anything this time of year. It’s been a joy to be here this year and we look forward to the next.

News
Beware of spoilers!
Tomorrow’s comic releases includes Uncanny Avengers #15, with a beat-up Cap on the cover. The blurps don’t mention him, though, so we’ll see what happens… *ominous silence*
November sales figures gives Marvel a lead in market share, but 4/5 top selling titles are DC. If I were to give a guess at why, it’s the usual: Marvel does well-integrated titles, DC have a few big headlines that always pull their weight. What do you think?
Newsarama has a list of Ten Things we learned from Marvel’s March solicitations - including new #1’s (in a seeming never-ending spree of renumbering), including Iron Patriot, Secret Avengers and Avengers Undercover. In a new attempt to see how many avenger titles it’s possible to print at once, Guardians of the Galaxy has the subtitle Cosmic Avengers. Perhaps more to people’s genuine excitement, there’s a MCU tie-in for Winter Soldier announced as well.
Comicbooknews has a review of Captain America #14 in case yo want to know what happened without actually reading ;)
There’s also a preview of Avengers World #2 (out in January).

Unless you made arrangements for an extension, Holiday Exchange gifts were due yesterday (the 16th).  If you have not submitted your gift or arranged for an extension, please contact us ASAP.  Once we sort everything out, if we find there are still participants unaccounted for, we're going to have to strike them from the fest and arrange for pinch hits.

And speaking of striking participants from fests, by our last tally there are still some big bang works outstanding, fics AND art.  It's disappointing for team members when someone drops the ball in a collaborative fest like the Big Bang or the Reverse Bang.  If your part of a Big Bang project was never posted to the LJ or DW community as was explicitly stated in the fest guidelines, expect to get an unhappy e-mail from the mods.  Contacting us first and explaining why your part of a project is missing is a very good idea if you don't wish to be put on probationary status for future fests.

We also have an Ao3 problem.  The difference between a tag and a collection appears to be confusing.  If your Big Bang work appears under this tag or this tag but not the actual collection, we need you to add it to the collection, which exists so that all Big Bang works can be found in one nice, neat location.

ADDING A PREVIOUSLY POSTED WORK TO A COLLECTION:

Log in to Ao3 and go to your dash.
Click the "edit" button of the work you wish to add.
Scroll down to the "associations" section.
Find the text entry box "Post to Collections / Challenges"
Type "2013 captain" and the list will auto-fill.  The collection you want should be at the very top.  Select it.
Scroll to the bottom and hit "post without preview".

I hate to put a damper on the fest fun, but we're evaluating how we want to handle next year's fests, and one of the problems that needs to be addressed is that we're spending too much time running down participants who don't follow directions.

Dear fandom friends,

I recently had an idea for a type of holiday gift giving and philanthropy that I thought you might like too. (Thanks to the mods for permission to post!)

People in fandom are so amazing, kind, and giving. The talented authors in this community and others give us beautiful, funny, and moving stories—often the length of a novel!—all free of charge just for the joy of writing and the happiness they give us. This holiday season, in honor of their generosity, why not donate a small sum—say, the price of an e-book or trade paperback?—to a worthy and perhaps even Steve/Tony related charity in their honor? Over this holiday season, I’m getting in touch with a few of my absolute favorite authors, the ones whose stories I read over and over and love to smithereens, to thank them once again for sharing their writing and to let them know I’d like to make a small donation in their honor. So far they’ve been very pleased!

So, if you have the resources and this sounds like a nice way to celebrate fandom and the holidays, I’d like to invite you to join me. We’ll make some authors and worthy causes very happy!

Thank you for your time. Happy holidays!

-- The Kinky Pet
