WHAT IS A REMIX?
A remix is the creation of a new fanwork, based on the transformation of an existing fanwork. Much like song remixes and remix tapes, remixing a fanwork is your chance to create a different version of another person’s fanwork. This is your invitation to re-imagine another person's work by putting your own spin to it using different techniques (for example, changing the style, tone or narrative voice…) while maintaining some of its original elements like the general plot.
Looking for Remix Relay Starter Works
While full sign-up information for all parts of the Remix will go up on January 7, we do not plan any major changes from last year's rule set, which you can find here. Sign-ups for the relay chains will also start in January, but if you have a starter work for the chains planned or would like to create one, send it our way from now until January 7th!
As a reminder,
Relay Remix is a fast-paced remix chain for artists (including fanvidders and podficcers) and writers. It works like this: someone sends us a starting work, and the mods will pass it on to the next person in a chain of registered participants. The next participant has a maximum of 6 days to create a remix and send it back to the mods, who send it on to the next person in the chain, and so on until the chain is complete. At the end, the person who created the starting work will get to do the final remix. So, if you send a starter, expect to be around and available to also end the chain!
You can look at last year's chains here.Starter work requirements:
Work must be focused on Steve and Tony (whether the dynamic is platonic or romantic). No other characters can be featured in the main relationship.
All starters must be fic, traditional or digital art, fanvid or podfic.
Fic must be at least 500 words and no more than 8000 words.
Art must be digitally or traditionally drawn images or fully realized sketches on unlined paper.
Fanvids must be at least 30 seconds long.
Podfics must be at least 500 words and no more than 8000 words long. Podfics MUST remix the work received in the chain.
Starting fanworks must be new or unposted works.
All Marvel universes and most AUs are acceptable.
The following is not allowed in any of the Relay works:
Crossovers/Fusions with non-Marvel fandoms and AUs that require background knowledge.
The inclusion of the following content: bestiality, graphic torture, non-canonical character death, rape/non-con, and underage sex.
Cap-IronMan Reverse Big Bang
The Cap-IronMan Reverse Big Bang will likewise return in 2023 and remain in its usual slot! Expect Artist sign-ups to open and the general rules and schedule post to go up on January 1, 2023. We don't plan any rules changes compared to last year, so check out
