Suspended Animation by resurrectedhippo (Explicit, MCU, 50322 words) ★ Team Masterpost

Suspended Animation: The temporary cessation of most vital functions without death.

It means slowing down life processes in order to ensure survival. It’s the body’s last attempt to preserve its life form without termination. It’s living in the barest conditions. Surviving is not the same thing as living.

It's been two years since the Battle for Earth, two years since Thanos. Tony and Steve survived that fight and everything afterwards, but now they must survive just trying to ask each other out. Especially when they keep getting interrupted during their almost moments together.

Or, how Steve and Tony got together, featuring a t-shirt that annoys Tony, a meeting with their multiverse selves, one of which is a girl which surprised the hell out of Tony, their meddling exes, their relationship as viewed by the tabloids, constant interruptions from Doctor Doom, an A.I. who is just trying her best, whether Morgan approves, and a very drunken trip to Vegas with Thor's secret mead stash.

When Steve wakes up as a ghost—Tony’s personal haunting—he learns all sorts of things he’s sure Tony never wanted him to know. Chief among them: Tony’s been in love with Steve for a long time, and Steve’s apparently the last to know.

Steve’s been dead before, and it didn’t take. He’s determined to make sure that he comes back from this one. But first he has to convince Tony that he hasn’t gone crazy from grief, and that Steve is here to stay.

Evidence by MsWinghead (Explicit, 616, 25008 words) ★ Team Masterpost

Steve Rogers was back from the dead. And Tony Stark, amnesiac after erasing his memory after the Civil War, had to confirm the truth with his own eyes, even at a distance, because, as far as he knew, Steve died hating him. He just didn’t expect to be discovered and invited for a cup of coffee in the middle of the night by Steve. What was he planning? Would Tony’s heart be able to stand so close to him again, knowing everything that had happened between them, knowing everything Tony felt? Tony decided it was worth it to trust Steve and accept the invitation. What worse could happen? He had already lost everything. After all, it wasn’t like Tony was going to reveal all of his most intimate secrets, the ones that even Steve hadn’t been able to discover, right? Leaving all the armor outside, both real and emotional, Tony entered the apartment, not knowing that that night would change everything, for both of them, again.

ten years and a thousand tears by areiton, tsumi_art and starksnack (Mature, MCU, 38775 words) ★ Team Masterpost

It’s been ten years since Tony Stark watched the man he loved leave him.

Ten years can be a lifetime, and he’s happy now--he has a business he built with his best friend, a kid he loves more than life itself, a life he fought for. If he still misses Steve--well. He’s used to that.

It’s been ten years since Steve Rogers left the life he wanted.

Ten years that have been good to him--he’s built a business and a reputation, he’s got everything he left to achieve--he just didn’t realize it would take so long. He didn’t realize that while he was busy building a life, Tony would be busy living. Without him.

It’s been ten years and a thousand tears and a lifetime of regret--but pulled together by a friend’s last wish, they might just have a second chance for the life they chose, once, when they were young and stupidly in love.
