Claims are closed!

All fics have been claimed! Second claims are being considered.

This post is now open for claims and has the two one remaining summaries of this year's BB that are open to be claimed in the first round. A person who has already claimed a fic in the BB round is eligible to claim again.

2022 Cap-IM Big Bang

This is the CLAIMS phase of the Big Bang, and where the artists come in! 8 fantastic drafts have been submitted and are awaiting artists to claim them.

By claiming a story, you assert that you will collaborate with your writer(s) to produce a new SteveTony fanwork to accompany their story when posting begins in November. There is no penalty-free dropping out after this point.

You do not need to be a member of the [community profile] cap_ironman community or have a Dreamwidth account to participate in claims. Anonymous comments are enabled. Commenting will open when the claiming phase begins.

Your schedule:
  • October: Creators work on their piece(s), writers finish their fics
  • Saturday, October 22nd: Teams select their November posting dates
  • November: BB entries are posted throughout the month

A recap on some of the main rules:
  • Please remember to read through our General Event Policies and the Big Bang Event Guidelines for all participants, as well as the Guidelines for Accompanying Fanworkers for this year’s challenge before claiming.

  • Any story is eligible to be claimed if the creator is planning to do an accompanying fanvid or traditional or digital artwork

  • Creators wanting to create an accompanying fanmix with cover art, manips or gifs can only claim stories where the writer has OPTED INTO receiving these art forms.

  • In addition to a new accompanying fanwork, claiming creators will be required to create a banner for their team.

  • This is a collaborative challenge; you are expected to keep in touch with your team for the duration of the challenge. You must coordinate with your partner during the posting period.

  • All participants must be 18 or older.

Claiming:
To claim a story on Saturday, September 17, you will need to leave a comment with the following information (copy and paste in your own details):

You can list as many code names as you are genuinely happy to work with. Two or three options are recommended as we cannot guarantee that you will get your first choice.

  • Claims will be made on a first-come, first-served basis and you will be assigned the first option that is still available on your list.

  • Initially, you may only claim once, and you will be assigned a single story. We will announce if/when double claims begin.

  • If the claim time is inconvenient for you, we encourage you to find someone to proxy claim for you. Your proxy comments on the claims post instead of you, providing your username, email and claims following the template above. You can email the mod team for assistance in finding a proxy.

  • If you have a specific concern and would like the mods to vet a story draft before you make your choices, please let us know at cap.im.events@gmail.com before claims begin.

Writers, remember that claiming creators have different schedules and timezones, and that though we try to accommodate everyone, your fic may not be claimed in the first few hours. Please be patient, and don’t look at claims as a competition This challenge is about pairing like-minded creators who will work together to produce exciting new Steve/Tony content; sometimes it takes a while for the right person to come along!

When matching is complete, we will send out emails to connect teams, along with further instructions.

Please don't contact your partner until you receive the mod connection email. Please reply directly to the email letting mods know that you received it. After this point, team members are responsible for keeping in touch with each other for the duration of the challenge.

Send any questions to cap.im.events@gmail.com, especially if we've made a mistake with your entry.

Special Claim

We have an additional work for claiming, an RBB work that did not get an artwork. The story is Infiltration by Navaan (link here) If you want to claim this story, the claim will not count towards your Big Bang claims. Comment on this post or email us at cap.im.events@gmail.com to claim.

BETA

Universe: MCU
Genre: romance
Characters/pairings other than Steve/Tony: Avengers Ensemble, Loki, Thanos
Warnings: mpreg, nonlinear timeline, au - royalty
Rating: explicit
Summary:
Fifteen hundred years ago, the Great King Steven died defending his people from a deadly force, leaving behind his pregnant husband, the sorcerer Anthony. Now, Tony lives above his bookshop in Brooklyn, hiding away from the world. That lasts until the aliens invade in 2012 and Tony's past comes back to haunt him. Tony resists for as long as he can, but eventually Steve reminds Tony why he loved him the first time.

With a reincarnated Steven and his Royal Court of Advisors, Tony needs to decide how far he's willing to go to prevent being left behind again.

Story excerpt:
But even the greatest leaders fall. The myths differ on what it was that cost Steven his life. Some say there was a great battle, and he fell on the sword of the only enemy to ever break through the defenses of Steven's knighthood, the one that stood shoulder-to-shoulder with him every time he went to defend his lands. Others claim there was magic and intrigue in his court and he was killed by someone from within the ranks of his supporters. Still others insist that he disappeared quietly so that his daughter could take the throne in his stead.

Within all of this, though, the truth everyone agrees upon is that his sorcerer, Anthony, laid the Great King to rest in the Hudson River, to be revived again when his people needed him most. No one actually believes that anymore—magic isn't real anyway—but no one doubts that Steven is the Once and Future King.

GOLF

Universe: 616
Genre: Angst, H/C, presumed dead
Characters/pairings other than Steve/Tony: Hydra!Cap/Tony (if that counts as additional if the main pairing is real!Steve/Tony), Sharon, Doom, AI!Tony, Zemo, Elisa Sinclai, Kobik, possibly other Avengers and Hydra characters

Rating: Mature
Summary:
After Pleasant Hill, Civil War II and right in the middle of Secret Empire, Steve Rogers (the real one) comes back and realizes a copy of himself is now leading HYDRA and has taken over the world. With Tony dead and only an AI copy of him existing and nobody trusting the face of Steve Rogers, he decides to make things right and help the heroes trapped inside and outside the planetary field. One way to do it: Infiltrating HYDRA by playing the role of the other him. What he finds is more than he bargained for. Tony is alive! The other Captain America is holding him prisoner. Now will Steve be able to keep pretending to be the evil Cap in the light of this?

Story excerpt:
“He’s the real one,” Kobik insisted. “He’s not the other one.”

“You would say that,” the green armor hissed. It sounded like the distorted terrible voice of the real Victor von Doom coming from one of Tony’s armors — and finally it sunk in that this wasn’t a joke. Victor von Doom was standing before him in an Iron Man armor as if he had any right to that name.

Tony was dead. Steve would never see him again.

Past Claims Post with all summaries is here.
