Sort-of Girl-Tony and Girl-Cap
I just finished Hypervelocity; initial response is that it's wacky, and needs further consideration. I expect most of you have already read it.
My favourite page was, unsurprisingly, the reference to Captain America.
Spoilers for Hypervelocity below the cut.
There's a computer avatar called Absynthe, and she's pretty hot if you like goth chicks. At one point she appears dressed as the Avengers.
Apart from the eye colour, this is so exactly how I see a female Tony Stark.

(Also the Cap is very hot; although I find it hard to picture any Cap with piercings.)
Anyone have interesting thoughts on Hypervelocity they'd like to share?

I suppose if you think of it as Cyberpunk Cap it works a little better.. instead of super-soldier serum she has a cybernetically enhanced nervous system and so on. Because in the Dark and Gritty cyberpunk future, justice and liberty are counterculture ideas, so of course she's a goth. And Tony is a moderately corrupt CEO (which among cyberpunk CEOs makes her the shining light of virtue) who provides covert support to Cap and sends her 'bodyguard' along to help out. Also Tony keeps Cap's cybernetics bleeding edge, which involves a lot of Cap taking off her clothes and Tony touching her with great care and attention.
Not that I have thought on this at any great length, mind.
Hypervelocity... it was... interesting
It's crack, glorious crack.
I need to reread, but I have a lot of canon to power through, alas.
Re: Hypervelocity... it was... interesting
So much canon! I just found a new comic exchange shop and bought several old one - including a Capwolf one. I have not yet dared open it for fear it cannot live up to the concept of werewolf Captain America.

This.
This. I remember liking Extremis Execute for that same reason, when Tony starts to isolate variables and focus on who's really controlling his brain.
I do miss that concept in modern day Iron Man, for serious.

So then I wrote a ficcy script for a sequel because I just couldn't let go. Heh.
I loved the insights into Tony's personality as reflected by 2.0. And I loved the fact that not all Tony's sentient armors go rogue -- 2.0 was a good son, worthy of his creator. :D
(And yes, even though Suicide Girl was deliberately screwing with 2.0's mind, Girl!Cap looked pretty hot.)

I did like that in the Iron Man film, the two 'AI' were reliable, helpful and non-evil. Made a nice change - and should they do the sentient armour story, will give it good context.

Well, the mandarin was (supposedly) a descendant of genghis khan, no?

Hypervelocity was pure tech-geek, cracky fun, and also it made Tony being borderline/very mild aspergers almost-but-not-quite-canon, which made me &

I've heard about it by way of scans_daily, and the whole cyberpunk/techno stuff has me tempted.
And for the female!Cap, I personally think she looks better when you can see her hair, the Hypervelocity version reminds me of that Cap Megapost on scans_daily with the femm!Cap who had stars on her breasts that looked like strategically placed pasties.
I have to admit that the cover isn't far from what I think Femm!Tony would look like, but my personal "Tony" (mainly for comic reference) is this lady here, but with darker hair:

Yeah, it's worth a buy
For instance, we see Tony flashing back to his hellbent youth. Riding on a bike with a girl on his back, cranked up with alcohol. Or there's the fact that Tony makes an allusion to the 'most important part of his body', then lets the silence sink in before saying, "You pervs, I meant my brain."
It's just fun. If you're unsure, flip through it in a store, or buy it second hand online.
But it's a fuuuuuun comic, in a way that Stark hasn't had for a time.

It bugs me a little when female superheroes show their hair under a cowl, especially when their male equivalents don't.
What I like about the female Avengers here is that because they're male costumes, they're sensible clothes! No absurd cleavage, or clothes held on by willpower. Particularly IM, in the armour with no feminization. Looks like an astronaut or something.

If only 2.0 had lit himself up with one of those dayglo hula hoops and joined in the underwater robo-disco, it would have been the greatest comic OF ALL TIME.
