OMGWTF ::faint::

Warning! Comments may contain spoilers, so read at your own risk!

Has anyone else has gotten a copy of Dark Avengers #1? I do not want to spoil anything, but let's just say that when I found out who is wearing the Iron Man style armor, well, that is the closest I have come to pooping my pants since I was in diapers. I am curious to know how everyone else reacted.

hm, maybe you could say "spoilers" and tag it with the right ones, and then we can discuss.
As for me, I´ve seen the solicits on scans_daily and was not a bit surprised.

In fact, I have a few theories how our guys can fight back, but I can´t reveal them to an audience that doesn´t want to get spoilered.....yet

Not surprised at all. :D

(Because bad things always come in pairs MOLTITUDES! >_

I flipped through it in the comics store, ground my teeth, muttered several socially unacceptable words under my breath, and put it back down.

(...oh yeah, and flipped off Bendis when I saw him post on Twitter today. Real mature, huh? ^^;;; )

Honestly I'd be more surprised if it WASN'T Osborn. Also, I heard a rumor that they're going to kill off Carol.
D:<
I like Carol.

[identity profile] simmysim.livejournal.com 2009-01-23 01:40 am (UTC)(link)
Not just a rumor. It's already written. Happening in issue 37 (http://www.newsarama.com/comics/010922-Ms-Marvel-Reed.html).

Whoa, Carol is dead? It's been confirmed

[identity profile] jazzypom.livejournal.com 2009-01-23 02:39 pm (UTC)(link)
Wha'?

Oh shit. I mean, I'm pretty neutral on Carol, but I always appreciated what a strong woman she was.

Whoa.

Norman didn't particularly surprise me, it was my guess as soon as they started with those images WHO IS IRON PATRIOT? I enjoyed the issue overall, I'm excited to see where it goes.

[identity profile] sdroid.livejournal.com 2009-01-23 01:42 am (UTC)(link)
Personally, not surprised. After I found out the Iron Patriot was part of the DA line up, the only person that made sense for it to be would be Osborne. Not only has he taken over our international defense, but he's taken on the guise of two of our greatest heroes. And the American people like him and trust him for it. That is what Dark Reign is all about.

And, a little something Bendis' defense *gasp!* -- I think he's a fantastic storyteller. He's got great ideas and great plots. With that said, he is a terrible writer and really has a problem with characterization and just plain conveying what he wants to say. I think it would be perfect for him to be one of those guys who thinks up storylines, then makes other people write them.

It worked for Sweet Valley High you know? For real, just lock Bendis in a room, let him spit out ideas and have other scribes write 'em.

Wait Norman Osborn was a surprise to people? I'd have been more surprised if it was someone else!

[identity profile] empty-splendor.livejournal.com 2009-01-23 03:33 am (UTC)(link)
I'm going to be honest... I threw up in my mouth a little bit.

[identity profile] melisus.livejournal.com 2009-01-23 04:24 am (UTC)(link)
I've been following the solicits and previews on [livejournal.com profile] scans_daily so it didn't come as a surprise to me. I was kind of surprised that Tony conveniently forgot to remove or destroy his armour and just left it lying around... which makes me think that the moment he meets up with Osborn, he's going to trigger a failsafe word or something... just like he did with Peter's Iron Spider-man suit back in Civil War.

Personally, I'm much more psyched about the new Mighty Avengers arc. Hank Pym: Science Adventurer!!! Also dabbles with Timelord technology!

[identity profile] cosmicbiscuit.livejournal.com 2009-01-23 05:14 pm (UTC)(link)
God, I want so badly to be happy that Hank's finally getting to be awesome again, but I can't. It's like the writers in the 616-verse have some sort of inhibitor in their heads that keeps them from ever writing him and Jan being awesome at the same time anymore. Either one's awesome and the other sucks, or they both suck, or one's awesome and the other's dead. And since I like both, it drives me up the wall.

Patriot should sue for trademark infringement or something.

Also, everything with the Dark Avengers completely disgusts me--anyone who was a Thunderbolts fan when it first started should pretty much recognize Norman's plan as being stolen from the most awesome Zemo (who had a total mancrush on Steve). The fact that Norman was in charge of the Thunderbolts for so long makes me wonder if writers just cannot think up new material....

[identity profile] grey-bard.livejournal.com 2009-01-23 05:01 am (UTC)(link)
Or, rather, why they feel the need to repackage the same thing.

If you write for Marvel want to have the Thunderbolts temporarily replace the Avengers, cool! Then, you know. Do that. Don't cut and paste other characters in it, thus diluting it and seeming derivative.

[identity profile] twins-eternal.livejournal.com 2009-01-23 06:19 am (UTC)(link)
There were a few people on scans_daily that had a pretty good idea that this was bait planted by Tony.
I am inclined to agree that there is no way Tony would just leave a good handful of suits there in the tower and gasp have them be operational after The Ghost hacked Osborn inside the armory.

Hopefully they'll be right and we'll get a kickass showdown in either DA or IM where Tony and Osborn face off and Tony can say some magic words and lock the suit with Osborn in it <3

(Why doesn't Tony just bring Cap back from the dead, fuse with him like they do in DBZ, and beat Iron Patriot that way?)

Heh

Obsorn should put the star on his codpiece though, just to be a tad more obnoxious. Arsehole.

I'm still so consumed by Jan & Carol related anger that I can't summon up emotion over anything else.
