Scans and a Con Question

I read Essential Captain America Volume 2 and Avengers Visionaries: George Perez recently, and both had a few Cap/Iron Man moments. I decided to share some scans. Ready?

I think some people shy away from the Marvel Essentials because they're cheap black and white reprints. I find that a lot of the art looks fantastic in black and white, especially Steranko's stylized art. By the way, the art in Vol. 2 is great - when the plot lines got a bit lackluster, I was still able to enjoy the stories for the art.

There wasn't tons of Steve/Tony interaction, but in this story Tony was devastated by news of Steve's death.

Gratuitous shirtless Steve! Besides great art, Vol. 2 has epic amounts of 'where do I belong?' angst. Here he thinks about Tolkien in bed and angsts about how he was a jerk to Sharon. (Paraphrased: "Quit SHIELD, Sharon - it's too dangerous." "Um, no." "I'm not going to date you until you quit." "Find me when you've grown up, Steve.")

Here Iron Man does what he does best - trying to save Cap at the cost of his own life.

Surprise Carol/Wanda moment!

Oh, for the days when stories ended on a hopeful note, and Steve and Tony stood really close to each other at parties. Which, come to think of it, they do a lot. Throw together a crowd of Avengers, and Steve and Tony generally wind up chatting in a corner.

That one's from She Hulk: Single Green Female.

Well, that's all for now. Oh, and I have a question: I know a lot of folk go to the big conventions on the coasts, but does anyone on this comm plan on attending any midwest conventions? Con Vergence and Gaylaxicon are both in the Twin Cities this year, and while both are more sci-fi than comics, I know that Gaylaxicon had a fair amount of stuff devoted to comics when I attended two years ago.

Geek Kon is a small, free con in Madison held in the fall. Last year there was a fanfic panel, a slash/yaoi panel, and several manga panels. No superhero panel though, which is a damn shame. Easy to change, though.

Or he just save a slice and explain it's for Stark, that would be simplier.

Maybe it's hard to balance a paper plate on gauntlets?

Aw, I just had an image of a little slice of cake, covered in plastic wrap, in the Avenger's refridgerator. Steve would write "FOR TONY" on it in black marker.

That's a pretty image :D
And now I can see other Avengers trying to steal the slice, only to be stopped by Jarvis or Steve.
See? You make me think weird stuff.
