This is one of my all-time favorite comics ever, very full of Steve/Tony, but as I mention it in passing to people, I realize it's not all that well known. So, stop me if you've heard this one.



ONE MORNING the Fantastic Four eats breakfast, as they tend to do, and their home is busted in by a screaming cloaked figure:

Because all attempts of tricking you into believing this is regular business would fail miserably, as I'm pulling it out for selective reading, I'll just cut to the chase, after a grand battle:

I see you eyeing that phone young man perhaps you are thinking of calling a certain teacher of yours named Peter Parker who you figured out is Spiderman. That would be a wise move.





MEANWHILE X-23 happened to be staring at the right screen when the blip of energy was detected at the mansion. Which leads to:

And I can't remember any evil!Steve comics really. Els would probably know. I think its the goatee with Tony, somewhere in the back of a lot of writers mind goatee = evil twin and it just confuses them. Star Trek you have a lot to answer for. Also I want a Tony/Steve version of this. Because just out of the ice Steve trying to use modern pick up lines on Tony would be hilarious

Now I want to write a fic where Steve switches places with his goatee sporting evil twin, and discovers that mirror!Steve keeps mirror!Tony has a pet. And mirror!Steve is in 616 trying having his wicked way with 616!Tony.

I want evil!Steve trying to take over 616!Steve's life, as the first step towards conquering another world. Or in his mind, ruling another world with his benevolent, er, first.

The basic plot summary, which I'm going to share because I'm sad that I'll probably never write it at this point, lol, followed this one, evil!Steve gets thrown into 616 dimension by accident. He needs someone to help get him home, and he stumbles on Stark Tower. Hoping that there's a recognizable Tony there, he goes in, and Tony talks to him. Evil Steve is very frank and upfront and Tony agrees to help him, but something ends up forcing Tony to delay building the machine to get him back home (a meeting or bad guy or the like). Steve nods in understanding, then goes out to the foyer, grabs Pepper and shoots her in the stomach, holds the gun to her head and tells Tony if he doesn't want her head blown off, he'll finish it now. So Tony goes to finish it, alerting the Avengers, there's a fight, but Tony continues making the machine.

ALSO NOTE: in Steve's universe, Tony is dead because THE GOVERNMENT tortured, and then executed him, along with several other innocent citizens. This is what snapped Steve, he's very warped and is basically the Punisher, except Steve will and does kill innocents.

SO when the machine is finished, Steve escapes into the tower, goes into Tony's lab, knocks Tony out, and captures him. He's going to make sure that Tony doesn't die like he did in his universe.

THE HEROES follow behind as fast as they can, but time goes differently between the two universes, and what was a week in 616 was FIVE YEARS in evil!land. Tony's totally broken. Evil!Steve, essentially, killed him with kindness. He never beat him, never hurt him, never punished him for trying to escape or for attacking him, but he'd slowly, slowly work on his resistance.

So, by the time 616!Steve arrives, and ends up killing Evil!Steve (an accident) Tony is so warped, he loses it.

Yes, but Tony can be broken and he loves/adores Steve in any universe. Mirror!Steve might have to often punish Mirror!Tony for his willfulness.

And yes mirror!Steve would so try to take over 616!Steve's life. Tony would figure out that it wasn't /his/ Steve but would it before mirror!steve seduces (yeah because that's going to be hard) him to his bed?

Mirror!Steve would so think he was doing what he does for the 'greater good'. He knows what's best for everyone. He keeps his friends 'safe', even if it is against their will often, and doesn't understand why some of them have turned against him. Can't they see that his way is the right way?

And well the government was faulty so of course he had to take over, for the greater good not because he wants to rule...

And isn't Tony better off? No more worries about his heart, or his company. Steve can keep him from making stupid rash decisions. He doesn't have to worry about letting people down and he certainly doesn't have to risk his life anymore. Why doesn't Tony see that? Why does Tony resit so? Steve only does this because he loves Tony after all, and he protects what's his. He wouldn't have to keep Tony restrained if he would stop trying to run away...
