First Marvel Art post: For What It's Worth (There's Nowhere I'd Rather Be)
*waves hello shyly* I've never posted on this community yet but I've been a devout lurker/appreciator for a while now. I've always been meaning to draw more for Steve and Tony (oh, how I love you boys!) but the drawing of human musculature remains intimidating. I hope this will still prove to be of some artistic/entertainment merit. ._.
Title: For What It's Worth (There's Nowhere I'd Rather Be)
Artist:
red_rahl
Rating: G
Characters/Pairing: Captain America/Ironman (or -woman)
Disclaimer: These characters belong to Marvel. I'm just borrowing them for a little bit.
Warnings: Alternate Earths and gender permutations exploration.
Done For:
oh_shit_santa's OSS Summer Challenge '09: Ride It Like You Stole It: Sidesaddle Edition! (It was a free-for-all fest in terms of fandoms that had to include females in the work in some fashion.)
Notes: I decided to draw Steve/Tony in all their gender permutations because I was always taken with that one Alternate Earth's Cap/Iron Woman wedding and then I wondered what the couple would be like on other Earths if their genders were changed up some more. Hopefully what I came up with isn't too out there.
- Title was conceived with Steve's last question to Tony in Civil War and Tony's answer in Civil War: Confession in mind.
- The first panel is totally wishful thinking on my part. (Damn you, Marvel, why can't your Civil War be more like Marvel Ultimate Alliance 2?!)
- In the pertinent panels, coming up with a design for Iron Woman's armor was hard (especially the unseen front part). !_!
- I shamelessly borrowed the background for the last panel from the Civil War What-if issue.

OTP no matter what gender
That said I love this drawing and I like the fact that this OTP is strong regardless of gender.
Re: OTP no matter what gender
And I'm so glad you enjoyed! I know that I hope the OTP would be strong no matter what universe they were in. So glad you enjoyed and thank you for the comment!

Thank you so much! I really wish something like that would happen for Steve and Tony as well. !_! And I was giving a bit of a nod to current Marvel-verse (well, as much as I know of it) and went with the retro armor. I even broke out my Avengers omnibus to compare but really, I shamelessly borrowed from Civil War: Iron Man for a lot of the look for everything.
And ahhh, the third panel. I have to admit that while I was working on the inking, I had no idea what the background for this one would be. All I knew was that I did not want to cut out any more of Cap's backside than I had to. *admits to being rather taken with Steph's curves* And honestly, I never really contemplated having Cap in anything other than the traditional uniform.
So glad and honored you enjoyed!

I like how both of them took hyphenated last names in 3940.

And the ones in between aren't bad either. (G)
Steph's unaltered costume works oddly well. In a 'stare HERE' sense, as far as the star's concerned. Also, the white sleeves seem really... girly. Frustratingly pure, like a Southern belle's long gloves. I never noticed that before, on Steve. Yet Steph's clearly a badass too. Beautiful, but in many of the same ways as a military airplane. ...Which doesn't strike me as being a problem for Tony(/Toni).
Bonus points for Steph's 1939 hair.
Steph/Tony in 'Earth-????' is a stolen moment. A comfortably jarring note, that stays true to the characters' luck, and the things that tend to be written for them.
'Earth 616' is win, and may it happen soon.

And XD! So glad you approve of Steph! I definitely was aiming to make her features more strong so they would parallel her male version more. And I'm really glad you dig her hair! (You know Tony/i so totally does!)
And yes! I think that's where my brain was going with Steph/Tony. That they were in a desperate situation, Tony's freaking out a bit, and Steph is being optimistic.
And another yes to 616. Stop breaking our hearts!
So glad you enjoyed!

And your genderbending is lovely. Steph looks like a REAL woman! And your Natasha/Toni actually looks like the Tony we're used to. I can see the resemblance.
Very well done! Hope to see more of you around here. :)

I love this to the depth and breadth and height
My squee can reach, when feeling out of sight
For the ends of Fandom and ideal Grace.
I love this to the level of everyday's
Most meta need, by sun and laptop-light.
I love this freely, as Steve strives for Right;
I love this purely, as Tony turns from Praise.
I love this with the passion put to use
In my old OTPs, and with my fangirl's faith,
I love this with a love I seemed to lose
With my lost canons--I love this with the fanon
Smiles, tears, of all my life--and if TPTB choose,
I shall but love this better as my canon.

I really really love how Toni and Steph, really do still look like Tony and Steve even while being distinctly feminine. <3 Toni/Steve is my OTP to end all OTP's but I love Tony and Steph the best out of all those! <3

I'm not sure if I love the first panel, last panel or next to last panel best... Sad to say I'm a bit of a sadist and love to torcher my favorite characters so 3490 always irked me. Hmm, probably the last panel. I love that Steph is still obviously taller than Toni. That is amusing the living daylights out of me! I can be so simple minded sometimes...

I really like how the shape of the armour is sort of softened, so it's clear it's a woman in it without going all METAL BOOBS. And 3490-Steve makes me d'aww so hard, look at him all snuggly. <3 Steve needs someone to hug, dammit.
Also it would appear Tony can only be happy in universes where he has breasts. This doesn't seem unreasonable at all. :D

THANK YOU!!!

Oh, and Steve's hair in the last one. Very pretty. And sensible. No easily grabable flowing locks for Steph! I love the gender flip posts.
*Keep misspelling this amour. Odd trains of thought get started this way.
