Avengers Prime #2: Complete That Thought!

Avengers Prime #2 hit the shelves today. I just want to highlight some subtext.

In this issue of Avengers Prime, Tony, Thor, and Steve go off on their own adventures. In Steve's, he makes out with an Empathic Chick Who Reminds Him Of Wanda. Yeah, I know. But before he does, he says:

Steve: I just -- I didn't do enough for [Wanda]. I couldn't help her when she needed help. And now I -- I'm getting a chance at life. A third chance really and I - I think I maybe he making the same mistakes again. I'm fighting with my brothers when I feel nothing but love and respect for them. I stand my ground on principle when all I really want to do is -- Um, why am I pouring myself out like this?

Non!Wanda: That would be my doing, mortal. I am empathic. Don't be ashamed of your true feelings. They are quite beautiful.

So... What does Steve really want to do?

:)

You know being new to comics in general, when I went to see what was so interesting about Deadpool I squeeed...he's so...interesting! XD I dunno he's just awesome. But yeah, I hear you on torturing characters you love, I'm kind of glad I'm not the only one who does it XD Bhahaha.

As for Tony [pats him] yeah...maybe it's general Marvel rule that you have have a f-ed up life in or to be "more relatable." Personally, if they want to pull this Marvel Big Three off, they have to have Tony likable to the general public again. I still see so many people who are cheerign at Tony torture.

Sidetracking a bit, doesn't Daredevil usually have an pretty bad life as well? I heard somewhere NOTHING happy happens to him for long either, but I don't know for sure.

Deadpool is fascinating. And god, I feel so bad for Wade. But this Deadpool mania has really pissed me off. I hate that they've rewritten bits of his history too. The Weapon X thing and everything was perfect the way it was. I hate that they screwed with that. And god. The Cable writer makes me so mad, treating Cable&Deadpool's relationship the way he did. The older Deadpool stuff is just so utterly fantastic~~

There was a point, apparently, where Marvel tried to decide whether or not to make Tony a cokehead. They decided to leave him an alcoholic. And yeah, the cheering of the Tony torture is making me twitch. There is a large amount of Tony hate on the net, and it worries me. :| Marvel needs to give the poor boy a break.

As for Daredevil.... I have no idea. I have a passing idea who he is.........from the movie with Colin Farrell. Mm.... Crazy Irishman.

Yeah I was surprised that Deadpool I think has 3 comic book lines of his own. But I'll have to make sure to check out some of the older books then.

I didn't know about the possible drug use for Tony, and at least now he got over his alcoholism. Well on the up-side the one comic line(aside from Marvel Adventures) that they didn't torture Tony and he actually gets a break is in Ironman Noir. It's a shame that it's only 4 issues long, but *_* It's fun and brilliant and yeah! In essense it's Indiana-Tony!...hmm I should think about posting some pics. Tony fights Nazis XD

I never saw the movie, but I know Daredevil can go off the deep end a lot! From what I understand...you thought Tony's methods in Civil War was harsh...Matt can get to extremes too. I know one time he beat the Kingpin to a bloody pulp and names himself the new Kingpin. Currently in cannon, there is the story of the Shadowland. It was in response to what Bullseye did (blowing up an apartment complex and killing a bunch of people).

Essentially, Matt has an army of ninjas called the Hand and is vigil-anting Hell's Kitchen to the extreme where you break the law you get beat up by ninjas or taken prisoner. Matt is now thinking of expanding his territory to pretty much all of Manhattan, so intervention time by Luke Cage, Ironfist, Spiderman and others...

:| Actually, I'm one of those fans who looked at Tony's actions and thought them completely logical. Steve, on the hand, was like...so out of left field I have no idea. But I'm not getting into that. Because, frankly, I just don't care anymore.

Daredevil sounds like a comic I should be reading. I read the Authority up until the massive ridiculous bullshit crossover. And aside from Millar's run, I loved it. XD And considering the book I'm writing is mostly focused on a guy who the world has hated and tried to kill so many times and he tries to be a hero all the same....and then he kind of just says fuck it and makes Jason Todd look like a Saint. :D I like the ones with MEAT on their character. *has been hiding in the DCU with the Batfamily for a while*

But yeah. Let's see, for Deadpool, all 50 issues of Cable&Deadpool are a must. The last couple when Cable fucks off and leaves it to DP with weird crossovers with other people aren't really important, past DP's team up with the Mighty Avengers and a reallyreally sweet moment with C&DP. But other than that.... his original 97 run is awesome. I only got through 40-ish issues (not including annuals, which I read as well) before I got distracted by something shiny (*coughNightwingcough*) but I loved it all. Blind Al and Weasel. There's an awesome issue where DP goes back in time...in a classic Spidey comic. Done in classic art. It's awesome.

Annnd let's see. There's Wade Wilson's War, Deadpool, Deadpool teamup, Lady Deadpool, Deadpool Corps, Deadpool Pulp, and I think Merc with a Mouth is still going. He has more comics than the goddamned X-Men. Or Avengers. maybe the both of them put together. I got fed up and stopped collecting. I nabbed Deadpool Origins, because I did like the mention of his family, and it...god. It was the first Deadpool comic I'd read that I'd actually enjoyed in a VERY long time. I should go back and reread early Deadpool. Its like Johnny the Homicidal Maniac, only not. :D

Thanx for the DP Recs

I was actually about to start bothering people for Deadpool recomended reading. From the bits of him I've seen in fiction and Wolverine Origins I thought he was neat but since I finally buckled down and started playing Marvel Ultimate Alliance I've fallen in love with him and his smart mouth! I want to know more about him so thanx for the list of good places to start.

Also, hugs for a fellow Bat lover! I haven't picked up a Batman Issue in a long time but I grew up with all of the oldschool from my granda who had major man-crushes on Bruce and Superman. You wouldn't happen to be able to message me any good recent Bat runs would you? Now that I'm back to date with the Avengers I've been wanting to get up to spead on what the Batfamily is up to as well.

Regarding Daredevil: pretty much all of his girlfriends die. Although sometimes they leave him. I don't have a thorough knowledge of his canon, but my best friend talks about him often, and from what I can tell, his life is pretty shitty.

Oh and I believe I do recall his wife [tries to remember] ugh...what's her name. Something with an M...Milla? Anyways, yes I know she goes insane because of the whole Daredevil thing. I'm not too keen with the details, but I think she accidentally kills someone (she's also blind). So yeah...I think Matt can give Tony and Deadpool a run for crappiest life.

[identity profile] xturncoatxiii.livejournal.com 2010-08-06 01:26 am (UTC)(link)
Oh, yeah, right, Milla. I think the only one who didn't die or go crazy (and then die) was Natasha. And she left him. Also Bullseye kills his mom...? I think I remember this correctly. In any case, his life definitely sucks.
