Cap_Ironman Weekly News, Week Ending 17 October 2010

Hello and welcome to the weekly cap_ironman/cap_ironman newsletter.

As noted in comments of the last newsletter, a few Cap and IM announcements came out of NYCC last week. Two new minis for Steve: Astonishing Captain America by Andy Diggle and Adi Granov in July 2011, and Ultimate Captain America with Jason Aaron and Ron Garney in February 2011. If you're into the X-Books, James Asmus is writing a three-part annual crossover between Steve Rogers: Super Soldier, Namor: The First Mutant and Uncanny X-Men

Also, Invincible Iron Man is renumbering as of January, and Matt Fraction mentioned some details about what will be in Iron Man #500.

Only Steve or Tony comic out this week is the final issue of Ed Brubaker's Steve Rogers: Super Soldier. Preview for that here.

THIS. I'm still in the early 1980s in my timeline-driven read-through, and current Tony looks like crap in his own book. Avengers draws him better, and that's... saying something. -.o

The photorealism, especially when clearly based on someone famous, just throws me out of it. I'll take any Tony over that Tony. (I do enjoy me some Extremis Tony though.)

*nod* Exactly. I posted up pics of Tony, Steve, Noir!Tony, Pre-SSS!Steve, and "Noir"!Steve, and the one for Tony... ew. Just ew.

And... can't argue with you over Extremis!Tony. :D

Ah, sorry. My "cast list" for my reverse bang. It's on my LJ from yesterday... here. For comparison, mainly.

I didn't really want to go digging through *mumble* issues of Iron Man, so I settled for the first fairly decent recent picture of Tony. And I still don't like it. (The pic of him smirking at Noh Varr from Avengers #2? Awesome. IIM in general? *sigh*)

I just realized, IIM Tony has brown eyes. I suppose they did it to match RDJ, but with so much character history, that just seems silly.

Yep. It's one of the things that bugs me about the artwork, actually.
