Return of the Rec Week: Sunday, Free Day!

Today is the day to post any recs you like! Maybe you ran out of room in the category appropriate for the fanwork, or maybe it's a fanwork that cannot be programmed, categorized or easily referenced. Remember: fanart, vids, and mixes are all welcome! You have a couple days to do any last minute reccing, and then I'll round everything up in one tidy post.

You may rec up to four fanworks per theme. It's okay to go back to rec previous themes even if the day is over! I know not everyone can make it online each day.

And finally, large fics, primarily AUs, fit to make my heart go pitter-patter,

Title: Classic-verse
Creator: Elspeth and Seanchai
Universe: Earth-616 (main continuity; Classic Avengers)
Rec: This series, appropriately, is something of a fandom classic that absolutely must be recced. Being a retelling of how the Avengers assembled in 616, it's funny, touching and gripping all in turns. Each story is tightly written and perfectly ties in, and the shorter interlude stories are wonderful glimpses into the background of the Avengers lives and characters during quieter moments.

Title: The Tower of Yesterday

Universe: Earth-90214 (Marvel Noir; modern era)
Rec: This is what might have happened if Tony had been the WWII hero who woke up in modern times. The switch of position is amazing, and seeing Tony cope with what Steve's gone through in so many universes is a whole new angle on the character. The characterization of noir!Tony is spot on, and manic_intent does an amazing job capturing his voice. Steve, even though a man of a modern military, is still himself in a lovely, idealistic-yet-realistic sort of way. If you like Noir fic, this is a must read.

Title: Constructs in Progress

Universe: Earth-616 (main continuity; AU)
Rec: Robot unicorn racing in a dystopian AU. No, seriously. And it's not as cracked as that makes it sound, either. I love this fic because it took what could have been a nonsensical idea (Tony rides a robot unicorn!!!) and twisted it into an amazing plot with very serious tones and a wonderfully realized dystopian AU. It has one of the best "oh Tony" moments available.

Title: The Emperor's Fury
Creator: Valtyr
Universe: Earth-1610 (Ultimates; AU)
Rec: A Roman-ish AU, this features Tony in a toga, Gregory and Tony snarking at each other, Jan/Wanda and an absurd amount of gratuitous nudity. The world development is stellar, the political intrigue engrossing and Ult Steve's le manly angsting is delicious enough that I want to sink my teeth into it. Add on top of that sizzling hot porn (and a bottom Steve!) and what's not to love?
