Trailer Up!

The trailer for Captain America has run and is up for viewing here.

Squeeing to follow.

Slightly OT, but...

does anyone know why they're referring to him as the First Avenger? Is it just so people who only know about the movies will link him with The Avengers? Or are they just referring to him as the first one, after the fact? Because, I could be wrong but, I thought the term Avenger was coined while Steve was still frozen on ice. Idk, it's been bothering me.

Now, I'm super excited for the movie, but I was a little underwhelmed by the preview. There was a lot to squee over, but I think I was expecting a little more from a first preview that was airing during the superbowl.

lol. /debbie downer

Still excited though!

Yeah, I had a feeling that was it, but it's been driving me crazy. I don't like the idea of everyone thinking he was the ~first avenger~ when he really wasn't. Urg. Whatever. lol, I'm just being silly.

It's so Marvel/Paramount can drop the "Captain America" from the title for international release.

Well... he was the first of the founding Avengers to be active, although he wasn't an Avenger until afterwards.

Also, the Avengers name clearly comes from a different source, as Fury introduced it to canon. If I recall correctly, there were hints in Hulk that there was a precious source of superhero science. There's a decent chance they're adopting that from Ultimates canon, where Project Rebirth carried on after Erskine's death, trying to recreate his work.
