I'm sorry, we seem to be talking at complete cross-purposes here. I never said anything about Loki intending to kill all of Asgard. I'm talking about his attempt to destroy Jotunheim, and all the Jotuns who live there. IE he is trying to destroy an entire world and wipe out a whole sentient species including, presumably, a number of his genetic relatives. He tells Odin he intended to do this. He's explicit about the fact he intended to commit genocide to impress Odin. (He also let Frigga face two Frost Giants alone - it's only luck they didn't strike her with a killing blow when they knocked her over, because Loki only arrived in time to save his father, not his mother.)

When I refer to "unknowingly", I mean in Asgard, when Loki is trying to do his save the day thing.

But who attacked him? Are you talking about Thor? Thor was trying to stop him from wiping out the Jotuns. It wasn't a case of Thor foolishly rushing in and stopping Loki from saving the day. Wiping out the Jotuns was a Bad Thing.
