Yeah, the one thing I know is that it is going to be freaking tricky to give everyone an appropriate amount of screen, but I am hoping for the best. If anything, we can be certain Marvel's big three will be front and center - lol.
As for Cap...yeah. From what we know he went from 616 to leaning towards more Ult!Cap mainly because of the whole frozen in ice and everyone you know is dead problem. It was somewhere buried in an interview I think [draws blank] but, yes...Steve is not his lovable 616-ness (at least for now hopefully) because he's angsting. Don't know if it'll be addressed in this movie or not...or if they are going to wait for Cap 2.
Still, my inner fangirl tells me the whole smiling scene in the park says Happy endings for all <3
Well, Movie!Cap used guns too, as necessary, and my guess would be machine guns on Eldritch Monsters or something instead of actual people.
But as for the crankiness, yeah, that's probably angst with a side order of insecurity - Steve sort of fell into leading (not into being a soldier, but into being a leader) during the war, so he's probably unsure of how to deal with a challenge for power in a group of strangers he's supposed to be leading in a highly charged and unfamiliar situation.
And of course, put Tony in an unfamiliar situation and he will start mouthing off, so... I can see how it would take a bit to straighten everything out.
It's not the use of guns persay I was thinking of when he shifts to Ult!Cap-ish-ness but the crankiness [nod nod] I know 616!Cap uses guns, though I think the machine gun had me go O_o' whoa wait? Buuuuut I've seen 616!Steve loaded with guns as seen in Fear Itself #6 and he went "Alright you son of a b*tch!" XDDDDDD Then again I think I also said...Oh my, return of ult!Steve [snickers]
Still, mouthing off Tony amuses me ;) I can see him rubbing people the wrong way...reminds me of the Marvel short, the "Consultant." \0/
I'm sure they will. I'm more worried that Natasha and Maria won't get much time.
I like Ult!Cap, so that works for me. I'm sure we'll get lots of angst and hopefully competency porn. 616 Steve used guns during the war too, but we rarely see him use them in present day. Secret Avengers is one of the few times I can think of.
The thing that gives me a little bit of hope is that article that went around saying ScarJo specifically asked for more action scenes, and Whedon LOVES those kinds of scenes in my experience, so HOPEFULLY she doesn't get too overshadowed in the sausage fest. I really have no idea at all how much time Maria is gonna get though /o\
Whedon is pretty good IMO with female characters, Zoe from his series Firefly reminds me a bit of Natasha. He likes strong women and if ScarJo asks for more actions scenes he'll probably want to showcase that.
The thing I worry about is though his trying to please the cast as much as possible the movie could possibly feel a bit disjointed. I know not everyone will get equal screentime, focus, or development, there are going to be "leads" of the movie. Most likely Tony, Steve, and Thor in that order will get the most focus. I just hope that the other characters will get their moments and won't feel shoe-horned in or pointless.
