Ugh, same. I've been really bad about reading comics lately but I feel like I'm probably going to be heading back into that particular fray pretty soon. There should definitely be more shippy stuff about them, though! I would love to write something, once I. Write all these other things on my list. Fic should really just help a girl out and write itself occasionally.

Explosion! Thoughtful stuff! Explosion! Thoughtful stuff! Explosion! A group of characters have a really deep discussion about personal motivations and their feelings during an explosion, it could really work. That is an awesome superpower! You should get a cape.

Oh man you're just really making me want to rewatch it, you know? I love that show so much. I've always wanted to write fic for it.

I've been sort of bad about keeping up with the current releases on purpose (ugh Avengers vs. X-Men, how did people think you were a good idea) but that's no excuse not to read older issues. Especially since I usually like the Bronze Age comics better than many modern ones. >__>

Asdfghjkl I know that feel; I have a bazillion fics in mind I want to write but never get around to. And many of them are for my Bingo table, too. :c And then there is this comm's Big Bang challenge, which I may or may not still sign up for...

Clearly this was the only thing missing in The Avengers. If there had been meta I probably wouldn't have found some of the action sequences a bit too long and tedious. |Db But yeah, I think the best "deep" movies are those that actually rely on a story and a bit of action instead of having lots of characters moodily gazing into the mirror and having freaky dream sequences while expecting the audience to sit, nod and marvel at the genius of it all. I make do with the morning robe I wear staying up to 4 AM browsing the internet.

I rewatched the first season over Winter break with a friend who was visiting from abroad, might be time to do so again... It's just a really good series, and since it's pretty long rewatching only makes it easier to discern certain themes and developments that I don't think you'd necessarily catch if you watch the episodes as they air.

I was going to write a Steve/Tony fic set i AA!verse for the [livejournal.com profile] avengers_bang, but I had to drop out because of school. I've read two fics since with the same basic premise, but neither who does it much like I had envisioned, so I might still write it some day... I've also always wanted to write some meta posts on that series, but I'm never sure where to start. Which is probably the reason I don't write more meta texts overall.

Would you mind if I add you as a friend? I've quite enjoyed this conversation. :3

Avengers vs. X-Men just looks so bad. Not even entertaining bad. And I'm sorry, I love the X-Men, but when they're the ones (apparently -- I've only read solicits) being the reasonable party, you know something is wrong. Bronze Age comics are so much fun; I can't blame you. Not that I have a massive collection of older issues I'm still working through or anything. >>

I totally signed up for the Big Bang and now I'm freaking out because PLOT, PLACING, UST WHAT ARE THOSE THINGS. But it'll be fun! ... Probably! ... I hope! (It's my first time doing a BB so I am still stuck in that "what am I doing how do I do it" phase.)

Explosions and freaky dream scenes, now, then we'd be talking.

It is a really good series! I have to start handsewing a cape pretty soon (sewing machine picked a great time to start acting up) so I think I might sit down and just marathon everything I've missed. Also, Steve/Tony set in AA!verse sounds amazing and there can never be enough of it. If you wrote it, I would eat it up with a spoon. I actually had something along those lines in the works a couple of years ago, but never managed to get more than a couple thousand words in.

I'd be delighted! Adding you right now. :D

Not to butt in, but I am reading Avengers vs X-men and find it to be delightfully ridiculous in that really good bad!fic way. But I did want to clarify that I've read all the issues so far and completely think the X-Men (other than Wolverine and Beast who are on the Avengers side) are crazycakes. Like the Avengers are clearly more reasonable in the writing. I mean even Magneto is telling Cyclops he's going a bit too far.

Good to know! tbh I probably will end up reading it at some point in the future, and I'll probably get a kick out of some of it at the very least. Right now though I just think I'm having event-itis.

Wow, Scott. When Magneto says it's time to back down, maybe it's time to cash in your hours and finally take that vacation day. I hear Florida's nice.

This event is silly at best, but I also get a kick out of reading badfic so I'm good with that. The part where Gambit decides that blowing up Cap's shirt is a good attack plan was particularly amusing to me. Now if only someone would blow up Cap's shirt in the movie..............

[identity profile] traincat.livejournal.com 2012-05-21 12:53 am (UTC)(link)
Let's be fair -- Gambit clearly had an ulterior motive. It's okay, Gambit, we all want to blow up Cap's shirt.

[identity profile] shinysylver.livejournal.com 2012-05-21 12:57 am (UTC)(link)
It was particularly amusing to me because Cap was on the comm with Tony at the time and Tony is all "can't you multitask and talk while you fight?" And then Steve is all like "I'm going to need another uniform."

I don't know, I'm so easily amused. Basically it needs to be either really good or deliciously bad to hold my attention. This series is so melodramatically ridiculous that it's entertaining me.

The entire premise just made me go "ugh" and the panels and complaints I've seen floating around doesn't make it any better (Steve throwing Wolverine out of a plane? Tony punching Steve and Steve threatening to break his hands? Really? Really?). But yeah, Bronze Age comics ftw. I have a particular weakness for Englehart-era Doctor Strange. Those comics are just so delightfully weird and psychedelic and sometimes surprisingly profound. <3

I had to pull out of both BBs I was supposed to write earlier this year because of lack of spare time; I've done NaNoWriMo for the past two years, so I like to think I have a bit of discipline down, but a Big Bang is supposed to actually be PUBLISHED and before that your artist has to read it and... Yeah, there's some pressure. I'm still going to sign up for this one, though. I have an AU idea I adore, I just need to come up with a proper plot. :x

Explosions in freaky dream scenes. There's something distinctly Freudian about that...

Yeah I just. Actually I realised today they started airing the second part of season two a while back? And suddenly there's SO MUCH I'VE MISSED, I need to catch up, but I'm having trouble finding links since I don't torrent. But I really liked the set-up I had, might manage it better if I got updated, even.

Whoo!

[identity profile] traincat.livejournal.com 2012-05-21 02:11 am (UTC)(link)
Doctor Strange is the best. There's so much fun, odd stuff that's been done with him.

That's too bad! And yeah, I think there's inherently more pressure because with NaNo you can just kind of stuff it underneath the rug afterwards. Not so much with a Big Bang! I am pretty excited about my plot, though. And good luck to you! I hope it goes wonderfully.

Aghhhh I've seen like, one episode from season two and missed half of season one, I am so behind.
