Rec Week #1

Rec week is back for Cap and Iron Man's 50th anniversary!

This week's theme is non-Civil War fix-its. We're looking for canon or close-canon AUs that "fix" something, be it an event, wonky characterization, logic fail, etc.  We're excluding Civil War because CW fix-its have always been popular, and we want to see the other stuff for a change!  Recs can be for fics, art, or any other fan-made work that fits the theme.

Comment on this post with your rec(s).  Please include:

Title
Author
Basic plot or premise
Why you're recommending the piece

We're also doing a secondary fun theme each week, highlighting trends we've noticed in the fandom.  For example, it seems that there's one particular villain always willing to throw down for a good action scene, so give us When Doombots Attack!

Okay, let's start!

Title: Incursion
Author: scrtkpr
Basic plot or premise: I'll just copy&paste the summary, shall I? "When Steve and Tony are taken down in the heart of Avengers Tower by alternate versions of themselves, their counterparts reveal a threat to both the foundations of the multiverse and to the foundations of Steve and Tony's friendship."
Why you're recommending the piece: it's an awesome and believable fix-it to the mindwipe problem. Also, alt!Steves and Tonys. Never too much of that.

Speaking of mindwipe...

Title: Make it Right
Author: iloome
Basic plot or premise: It was just a dream, Tony thinks, and ignores the gut feeling telling him otherwise. He really must have fallen asleep, and it was all just a dream, he didn't betray Steve like that … The day keeps repeating and Tony keeps trying to find another solution.
Why you're recommending the piece: Killer piece that's heartbreaking yet gives some hope.

Title: Relativistic Heat Conduction.
Author: SakuraTsukikage
Basic plot or premise: Builds off the Age of Ultron event and finds a way to resolve the arc that differs from canon, while giving us an incredible look at Steve and Tony's relationship.
Why I'm recommending this: Because it is brilliant. This story is wonderfully written, and is very vivid in the detail and imagery. The supporting cast is fully fleshed out, and the world itself is very real. But the true highlight of the story is the growing relationship between Steve and Tony, and the strength of the love they share. It is simply impossible to read this without crying.

I'm not sure what LJ has done lately but I can't see the comments. Are the recs supposed to be screened?

Do you have noscript on by any chance? I had to allow "livejournal.net" before I could see comments.

I do use noscript, I will look to see if livejournal.net is blocked. Thanks for the tip!

Title Sparky, the Avenger's Robodog (aka Doom Should take Better care of his Things)
Author love_in_the_stars
Universe Avenger Assembled
Basic plot or premise After a routine battle with Doom, Tony stumbles across one of his damaged and abandoned Doom Dogs. True to Stark impulsiveness, Tony gathers its wounded pieces and takes it home to rebuild.
Why you're recommending the piece Doom's Robot dogs count as Doombots right? In this Tony "rescues" one and fixes it. It made me laugh and smile and Doom was not pleased that Tony's dog was an improvement over the original design.

Title Family Old and New
Author Pookaseraph
Universe Marvel 616
Basic plot or premise When Ian Rogers finally comes to Earth from Dimension Z, his father is in no state to help him adjust, which leaves him relying on the Avengers, unable to forget the violence of his home, and hiding the secret he's sure they will hate him for.
Why you're recommending the piece Ian Rogers fix-it. This was the fic that introduced the concept of Ian Rogers to me and broke my heart because he was already "dead" in the comics. I think what I love the most about this story is the interactions between Ian and Tony. I also like that Steve can't immediately make a move on Tony once he's able to. He's got his own mental stuff he has to deal with from the whole Dimension Z fiasco.
