Title: When the World Came Down: Part two/five

Rating: R - For language and violence

Summary: Steve Rogers wakes up in a world changed from the one he left behind, a world obliterated by nuclear war and must learn to exist in the new world while he tries to fix his friendship with Tony Stark, or maybe explore it beyond friendship, as they with a rag tag team of avengers past and present fight one last time against one of their greatest foes.

Beta Used: yes, wonderful [livejournal.com profile] jazzypom who put up with me, god knows why.

Verse: 616/with a MA spice

Archive: Whatever you'd like to do

Warning: There isn't a happy ending. I'll be more specific when it gets to that point, but... just so you know now, it doesn't end well.

A/N: I've done a bit of handwaving: No Skrull War, no current Dark Reign, no One More Day/Brand New Day and Peter has organic webbing. It's a brand new world and it does take place a few years after the Civil War... but all will be made clear in the story. :)

Author's Note: So I turned on the TV today and it was playing Titanic, right at the scene where Rose brought Jack back to her compartment, and asked him to paint her wearing the Heart of the Ocean, and only that. It might have been over hyped (every talent show years afterwards included at least one My Heart Will Go On entry...), but I can't believe I've forgotten how much I actually love this movie. The desperation, tenderness, and joy. The socialite who felt trapped into a commitment she doesn't want because of a mother who would use her daughter as a pawn, and the artist with the All American charm. They even have similar colouring, at least they would have if Rose hadn't dye her hair auburn, frankly I think dark brown would have been very beautiful on her too, and enough of a contrast to Jack's dirty blonde hair.

I thought about AUs, but this is instead a scene that would have totally happened if Tony had saw the movie;
