I was rereading the Execute Program Arc once again and it struck me. The mind control device Yinsen Jr. was using had been in Tony since just before he became Iron Man. Extremis had nothing to do with it. However, in a lot of fan-fiction there seems to be a somewhat incongruous assumption that Tony's 'easily hacked' mind was the cause of Extremis? Also that Extremis somehow made him less human and was atleast indirectly responsible for his power hungry trip? Why is this? Am I missing some piece of canon regarding this?

Help, please?!
