Question about Women: Sharon Carter and Maria Hill

So, I'm really interested in participating in the Big Bang! And I have an idea too, which is odd. But I need some help, so, without further boring you with unrelated stuff...

Maria Hill and Sharon Carter are, by nature of the idea, rather important in my story. But the only thing I really know about them is from other fics, so this post is to help me. And I guess anyone who needs more info about them. :)

What I'm looking for is good reccommendations to read them in (preferably comics!) and I'd also really like for people here, who have been reading them for a while, and who have insights in to their personalities to discuss them here, so I can get a general overview and supplement with reading comics, without bogging myself down overmuch while I'm doing the writing. :)

Warren Ellis taking over Secret Avengers

According to this story on the Marvel website, Nick Spencer is only going to do one three-issue arc for the Fear Itself tie-in, and then Ellis is taking over. Steve will still be leading the team, but it's not clear from the interview whether he'll be leading it as Cap or as Steve Rogers.

Has Ellis written Steve much before? He's certainly done great stuff with Tony...
