Title: That Which Kills Us
Author: shellheaded
Universe: Ultimates
Pairings: Steve Rogers/Tony Stark
Rating: Mature
Warning: Deals with Tony's cancer and contains vomiting, some references to suicide and internalised homophobia.
Word Count: 7k
A/N: Set after Ultimates II and ignores everything after it. This is basically a character exploration piece, lots of talking and thinking happen here and not much plot.
Summary: Sometimes Tony hates being alive as much as he hates dying. Trying to juggle duties to the Ultimates and a terminal illness isn’t exactly easy. Throw in an irate Steve Rogers and things just get too damn complicated.

It is time for another...
Discussion Question Wednesday!

Today we are going to talk about story length.

Story Length: How long or short do you like them?

I know some people won't bother reading something if it is over x number of words or others that want it to be at least 10 k of words. Sometimes though the size of a fic can be intimidating and other times it just doesn't seem enough. What size fics do you prefer to read and for those that write what size do you feel most comfortable writing.

So let's hear your thoughts, what do you like to read. Why do you like it? Do you have particular sweet spot in length? Are there lengths you wish you saw more of?

Title: Belief Space (2/2 - Complete)
Author: [livejournal.com profile] magicasen
Universe: 616
Pairings/Characters: Steve Rogers/Tony Stark, the Illuminati, assorted others
Rating: Teen
Warnings: Please see endnotes (note: they're spoilery). There's nothing too big, though.
Word Count: ~44,000 this chapter, ~60,000 for the entire fic
Beta Reader: [livejournal.com profile] iloome
A/N: This is a canon divergence, so familiarity with Hickman's current run on Avengers (vol 5), New Avengers (vol 3), and the Infinity event is recommended. No canon published past New Avengers #12 is used.

Summary: The Time Gem appears not when it is wanted, but when it is needed. Steve learns this the hard way.

(Or: an Infinity #6 AU where Thane refuses his birthright and the Avengers are doomed - until the Time Gem shows up within Captain America's grasp.)
