2021 Cap-IM Reverse Bang

Check out the date — it's almost May! We are so looking forward to seeing everyone's Reverse Bang entries 👀

Posting will take place throughout the month, so you might be looking for an extra pair of eyes right about now.

Whether you are looking for someone to reassure you that your starting scene is awesome,

Need someone to pick out all your weird cut-and-paste errors and help with SPaG,

Want someone to listen for plosives in your podfic,

Or double check your canon references,

A beta can help!

It's absolutely optional to have your work beta'd, but we do encourage you to do so — it can be hard to see bits that are off when you've been immersed in your work for a while, and having a cheer reader leave love-heart emoji can go a long way to boosting your confidence!
A beta can be someone you know, someone who has a pingable role in a Discord server, or someone who approaches you after you post on a social media platform that you're looking for a bit of help. Read through our Beta Resource Post for a thorough guide on beta readers, from how to find one to tips on how to be one.

You can jump into our very own list of Active Steve/Tony Beta Readers, where you have lots of choices and people who can help as both betas and cheer readers. You can also post a request in our #general-stony channel on our Cap-IM Discord server, whether that's for someone to check your podfic, art or story.

There are also other beta reading databases out there, including the multifandom Beta File, betaplease Dreamwidth, Beta Reader Wanted Tumblr; the beta search and find-me-a-beta Livejournal communities; or on fanfiction.net (for the Marvel films and the Marvel comics).

Note that if you're pressed for time, we suggest that you contact several betas in case some aren't available, or don’t end up being compatible with your style.

We encourage anyone who is interested in cheering or betaing an RBB work to reblog this post to let your fellow fans know! You can also register as a beta or cheer reader for the Cap-IM list right here!

Your Cap-IM RBB event mods are available to help at all stages of the event, so please direct any questions or concerns to cap.im.events@gmail.com — we promise that we'll get back to you as soon as possible 💜

assemble the cap-im BB mods!

The Cap-IM Big Bang is one of Cap-Iron Man's oldest challenges. Writers in the fandom work on their longfics until draft submissions in September, after which creators will claim fics to begin the collaborative stage of the challenge. Mod activity begins in April/May and extends into the first week or so of December.

If you are over 18 and interested in teaming up to help mod this year’s Big Bang, please email us at cap.im.mod@gmail.com expressing your interest, availability and any experience and skills you bring to the table.

Whether you are looking to get more involved with the Cap-IM comm, you have experience in taking part and modding other fandom challenges, or you’re a returning Cap-IM mod, we’re happy to hear from you!

Our mod team varies in size, but we’ll always have one comm mod on board. We’ll get back to all applicants as they email us, and finalise the team in the next two weeks.

Modly Responsibilities:

  • Answering emails and other questions/comments about the event

  • Advertising for the event, including posting on LJ, DW, Pillowfort, Tumblr, Discord and Twitter (note that we have mod accounts everywhere apart from Discord, so you don’t need to personally be on the platform)

  • Running participant chats on Discord
  • Co-ordinating sign-ups, summary and date claims, and participant posting

  • Encouraging participants in their work, including creating inspiration posts

  • Managing the event’s AO3 Collection

  • Posting round-ups of submitted fanworks

Questions? Contact us via cap.im.mod@gmail.com, Tumblr IM or Dreamwidth DM. We are happy to discuss or clarify anything.
