There's still a bit of time to finish up and share your fills for Avengers Assemble Month, but in the meantime, it's the 15th, so welcome to the next month of Cap-IM's Universe Medley fest!

You can create as many works as you like across as many different mediums as you like! This is a no-pressure, low commitment challenge to encourage you to try something new, stretch your creativity, and check out other versions of Steve and Tony.

Yeehaw, everyone, and welcome to 1872 Month!

Four short issues make up this terrific comic, which was part of the Marvel-wide Battleworld event in 2015. No stress about back-reading, though—1872 works easily as a standalone run.

Set in the Wild West, 1872 gave us the honourable Sheriff Rogers and drunkard Blacksmith Tony Stark. It has everything a Western fan could hope for! A boom town oppressed by a corrupt mayor, shootouts, drunken serenades for the Sheriff, Tony goin' West to escape his past, tragedy and vengeance. A word of warning: Steven Rogers dies in issue #2. But read on to see his death avenged and Iron Man make his first appearance in Timely.

We adore 1872 for its angst potential and the special Steve and Tony moments. It's the perfect setting for vast desert vistas; dusty streets and wooden houses; saloons, horses and trains; missing friends and haunting pasts; tabula rasa; and makin' time with the Sheriff.

Take this chance to create a fix-it or wallow in anguish (or both 😉). Explore post-run scenarios, delve into the pre-1872 story of Steve and Tony, and most of all, have fun with this setting. Ride on, cowboy!

after Tony returns from space in EG he’s weak and shaky and unable hold his razor for long enough to shave so when Steve offers to do it for him, he hesitantly agrees. He’s still angry with Steve and deeply hurt by his actions and lack of faith in Tony, but this beard has to go! Steve is patient and gentle and oh so careful with Tony and as the days melt into weeks and Tony slowly regains his strength, he grows accustomed to Steve shaving him, to their conversation growing less stilted and awkward into something natural and easy. He finds himself, perhaps stupidly, falling back in love with the man who had broken his heart more thoroughly than anyone else ever had before. Only this time, it seems as though Tony isn’t the only one falling...

Cap-Ironman Fanworks Alphabet 2021 - One Week Reminder

The Cap-Ironman Mid-Year Fanworks Alphabet 2021 will close for entries in about a week and we’re excited to see your works coming in! Thank you to everyone who has already submitted something.

You'll have until midnight ET on August 23 to work on your fills in secret. (When is that for me?)

Remember, there is no minimum requirement for your work, so feel free to create small pieces, flashworks, sketches, drabbles for this challenge right up until the end, or go as epic as you can in the timeframe! You can still pledge for letters on the main challenge post.

Post your works in the 2021 Cap-IronMan Alphabet Challenge Ao3 collection. Please also remember to use AO3' author’s note function to tell us what letter and prompt you used.

Announcing Yeehaw: An 1872 Round-Robin

We hope you’re enjoying the Universe Medley fest so far! It’s been so exciting to see new content across the multiverse.

This month we’re celebrating 1872, Steve and Tony living in the town of Timely out in the Old West.

We’d like to celebrate with a round-robin event that lets you collab with other creators in a fun and easy way.

What is a round-robin?

Traditionally in a round-robin, writers pass around a story. Each new writer adds a paragraph or a page or a couple of sentences before passing it on to the next writer. The story that comes out of the round-robin is a collaboration full of different styles and ideas that showcase the boys in all their glory.

Despite being a round-robin, participation is not just limited to fanfiction. We want everyone to be able to participate in this event regardless of what you create so we’re also accepting fanart, mood boards, edits, cover art, playlists, and anything else you want to contribute!

Sign-up is limited to participants who are 18+. That being said, we want to make everyone comfortable so all submissions need to be rated Teen and Up.

After signing up below, you’ll receive an invite to our round-robin Google Drive where all the magic for this event will be happening. You’re welcome to add to the fanfiction in the labelled document there or upload whatever you’ve created. We can’t wait to see what you come up with!

To take the pressure off, rather than having a strict order to follow, you can feel free to jump in and add to the Doc whenever you like, as long as someone else has contributed in between your additions. We ask that each written contribution not exceed 200 words and be added to the end of the document rather than between someone else’s contribution. Any other fanworks can be added to the Drive at any time and be any size.

At the end of the event, all our hard work will be posted to the Cap-Iron Man community AO3 account so that everyone can enjoy what we’ve worked so hard on. All creators will be credited in the notes of the work.

August 18: Round-robin drive link is emailed out to initial participants and the creation period begins.
September 10: Sign-ups close. This is the last day that the Drive link will be emailed to people.
September 13: Creation period ends
September 17: Completed work is posted to AO3

If you decide after signing up that you’d rather not participate in the event, that’s totally okay! We understand that life happens. This is a low commitment event so there are no repercussions for dropping out.
