To all of our participants — thank you for joining us in the Mid-Year Fanworks Alphabet 2021. Together, you created 116 fills. What an achievement! By participating in this challenge, you've gotten a taste of what it was like back when the cap-ironman community first began. The Steve/Tony alphabet challenge was the very first challenge to run on the comm!

You have until midnight ET on 23 August (When is that for me?) to make a pledge and post your work(s).

Remember, there are no minimum requirements for your work, and we would love to see some flash fiction, sketches, drabbles, unpolished podfic or other media submitted for this challenge — go wherever the alphabet muse takes you!

To make a pledge, leave us a comment on the main challenge post. You can do this right until midnight ET, so don't worry if inspiration strikes last-minute. You can comment without having a Dreamwidth account.

Post your works in the 2021 Cap-Ironman Alphabet Challenge Ao3 collection. Please remember to use AO3's author’s note function to tell us what letter and prompt you used.

The Cap-Ironman Mid-Year Fanworks Alphabet 2021 will close for entries in about a week and we’re excited to see your works coming in! Thank you to everyone who has already submitted something.

You'll have until midnight ET on August 23 to work on your fills in secret. (When is that for me?)

Remember, there is no minimum requirement for your work, so feel free to create small pieces, flashworks, sketches, drabbles for this challenge right up until the end, or go as epic as you can in the timeframe! You can still pledge for letters on the main challenge post.

Welcome to this year’s low pressure mid-year cap-ironman challenge: The Cap-Ironman Mid-Year Fanworks Alphabet 2021! In this challenge you pick a letter (or several), find a theme or prompt starting with each letter you've pledged to create for, and make a fanwork inspired by that prompt! By the end of the challenge, we'll have amazing new Steve/Tony and Steve&Tony works for all 26 letters of the alphabet.

How does it work?

Pledge to create a fanwork for a letter (or several!), or ask us to assign you a random letter if you feel adventurous.
Choose a prompt/theme that starts with the letter you've claimed.
Make a fanwork based on that prompt in secret.
Submit your work to the Alphabet Challenge AO3 Collection by the posting deadline.
Wait for reveals, then comment and kudos away!

The Cap-Ironman Mid-Year Fanworks Alphabet Challenge 2021 will run as a flash-fanworks event from July to August.

Schedule

Make a pledge and create your work(s): July 26 - August 23
Posting Deadline: August 23, midnight ET
Reveals: August 24 - 30

How will it work?

Much like during our 2018 Anniversary Alphabet Challenge, you pick a letter (or several) and "make a pledge" to create a fanwork inspired by that letter or a prompt that begins with it. By the end of the challenge, we'll have shiny new Steve/Tony fanworks for all 26 letters of the alphabet.

This challenge will be open to all ages and you will be able to create a fanworks of whatever kind you like, so long as they focus on Steve, Tony and their relationship with each other. Detailed information will go up with the opening of pledges on July 26 — so stay tuned!
