Cap's Got a Pair of Writers

FYI~ AvengerNews posted this earlier: Cap's movie's got itself some shiny writers!

As we already know, Joe Johnston (The Rocketeer, October Sky) will be in the directors chair for the upcoming Captain America movie The First Avenger: Captain America. I think this is a good choice considering his filmography as well as the tone attached to a character like The Captain. Now, The Hollywood Reporter is, um, reporting, that the will be penned by Christopher Markus and Stephen McFeely (The Chronicles of Narnia). Hey, look, they won an Emmy. Now, I still have not seen either of the Narnia films, but I’ve heard some good things. At least they can handle a period film as well as something of epic scope. This is shaping up pretty well.

I wanted to walk out of the first Narnia movie. Didn't see the second one. So I'm pretty indifferent about the movie right now. I want it to be great, but I'm not going to get my hopes up. Or at least try not to. :|

I dind't walk out but I was pretty not impressed by it. I felt like it was a painfully rass commercializtion of the a fantasy novel and well my om summed it all up when she said "They left out the romp. I can't believe they left out the romp."

Yeah how much time spent on annoying battles and such and the moment of pure joy gets cut. -_-

That said, I think those screen writers might pull off a good Superhero + WWII movie.

true. I hear that it is up to the director to save things... well, and the editors, but they can only do so much. Everyone has to work with what they are given. Plus, I'm not familiar with the director, so I don't know how capable he'd be with varying scripts. The only thing I really remember about Narnia is that I didn't like it, enough to where I didn't even try to pinpoint why. So I'm letting blame fall equally on everyone. Mention Narnia, and I'm (generally) not there. It's unfair, but it's one of those movies I've already tried to forget.

Well, I liked both October Sky and the Rocketeer, but I wasn't in love with them. That said, the only Favreau film I loved before Iron Man was Elf, so...

The PBS/BBC television series was much better. The big movie just seemed like LotR for younger kids... only... well... not anywhere near as awesome as LotR.
