Cap's Got a Pair of Writers

FYI~ AvengerNews posted this earlier: Cap's movie's got itself some shiny writers!

As we already know, Joe Johnston (The Rocketeer, October Sky) will be in the directors chair for the upcoming Captain America movie The First Avenger: Captain America. I think this is a good choice considering his filmography as well as the tone attached to a character like The Captain. Now, The Hollywood Reporter is, um, reporting, that the will be penned by Christopher Markus and Stephen McFeely (The Chronicles of Narnia). Hey, look, they won an Emmy. Now, I still have not seen either of the Narnia films, but I’ve heard some good things. At least they can handle a period film as well as something of epic scope. This is shaping up pretty well.

I saw the first Narnia film. It was pretty good barring the fact that Disney did their best to factor out any violence or gore (not a necessity or anything, but it takes away from epic battles when it's quite blatently missing).

What I want to know though is whether or not any of these guys are comic book or - more importantly - Cap fans. Because, quite frankly, if you're not into comic books then you don't have much business making comic book movies. So I'm just going to continue to sit here and try to be optimistic while worrying like hell about it. I mean, Iron Man did so well and left expectations so high that I'm just worried we'll end up with another Spider-man 3 or something... Because Marvel movies seem to go in cycles. A couple great X-Men movies, a good Spider-man movie... and then the Fantastic Four and Hulk ruin everything. A second Spider-man movie and things get awesome again, before the third X-Men movie and a Fantastic Four sequel tank. Now we have Iron Man which did spectacularly and an Incredible Hulk movie that was much better than the first... it's like we're due for another BAD one.

I wanted to walk out of the first Narnia movie. Didn't see the second one. So I'm pretty indifferent about the movie right now. I want it to be great, but I'm not going to get my hopes up. Or at least try not to. :|

I'm not particularly attached to the Narnia films, but I didn't have any problems with the scripts. I agree with melisus: are they geeks or what?

I look forward to it. I watched the original Captain America movie, and seriously? I'd have liked it to be Capitan America with the Avengers, rather like The Ultimates movie, because Captain America on its own might be hokey.

Dang it, why can't they reverse that?

Have the writers of the Rocketeere and October Sky and the directors of Narnia?
I think that'd work better.

WWII Superhero movie *glee*
Oh I hope the Cap movie is good because it combines two of my fave movie types ^___^
