Question
Ok so long story short, I and
ellyr_in_ink were looking up the invaders and in the wiki article on them down at the bottom there was this info about the current 2008-2009 series:
Basically we are both now going WTF and wondering if anyone as more into on the invaders series because -
According to Ross, who will be doing covers and design work for the series, it is a series that will return the young WW2 Captain America (Steve Rogers) to modern continuity, along with the other four original Invaders created in 1940s: Human Torch, Toro, Bucky, and Namor.
Wha? We had thought Time Traveling Steve was temporary. Is he staying? Does that mean this is how they are bringing Steve backand he and Tony will have to start all over from scratch. We are currently very very confused. Help?
In conclusion, should we be buying this?

And... they are very confusing, and I suspect that they are from not!616-verse, because I could not see how they could put them in the current main-verse.
Because Bucky and Namor are still present in the main-verse (in fact...)

Anyway, last week #6 came out and we're at half the series, and I still don't understand where they are going with it, or if where it is in the current continuity. But while Tony is all for mantaining the time-continuum and sending the Invaders back where they come from, I fear Cap!Bucky is going to screw up things and possibly change history.
Also, everybody seems to beat Tony up. Except Steve. To whom Tony apologizes in two panels full of emo! (If you're interested, I made a recap (http://dorcas-gustine.livejournal.com/94367.html#cutid1)). And Steve understands. Sort of.
(There's also some Torch&Toro angst in the middle. And Invaders!Bucky is a crazy teenager with a machine gun, but we knew that already!)
The art is pretty and it has the potential of being really good, so I'd say yes to the buying.

As to the whole... Invaders... thing... I'm still completely baffled. I hadn't even heard about it until today.
I'm actually just waiting on the trade.
Crimney.

Whaaatttt?!
Say what, now?
Whiskey, Tango, Foxtrot?

WWII!Steve could have some PART in bringing present!Steve back... after all, there was that whole business with taking AU!Tony's heart for 616-Tony or something complicated like that.
Anyways, time traveling Steve is most likely just temporary for this mini issue... especially if he has Bucky with him. That would cause A LOT of problems for the current Bucky, who seems to have enough on his plate already.

I've been enjoying it and I'd really recommend picking it up, whether in issues or in TPB, but I don't think it's going to be the gateway to bringing back real!Steve.
When is the trades coming out?

Space Time Continum
2. Time Travel in Star Trek...generally accepted fanon(?) especially on the Q side...there are always alternate timelines. One can never prevent something in the past from happening, ONLY, create a new alternative timeline, and move there.
THEREFORE:
The past!Steve that is in 616 right now, is NOT from the past of 616, he's from a similar timeline, except quite possibly, in past!Steve's timeline/universe, there is no future yet! If past!Steve stays in the 616 present, it really shouldn't affect 616's past at all, or the universe of 616 would be different the moment Steve arrives (removing himself from its past).
There is still past!Steve from another universe shouldn't stay here, because one, he's not the Steve that Tony remembers, and two, while it won't hurt 616, it will hurt the universe of this past!Steve, and hey, that universe has its own Tony somewhere in the future if they were to go there.
Additional Note
...and because I want to use my Time and Space witch iconI can't remember which theory it was, but something about if alternate timelines are similar enough, somehow they will eventually merge?
Wasn't there a thing a while back, with Teen!Tony from another universe?
Re: Additional Note
Oh teen!Tony, the Stark shame. Frankly, I don't know how they managed to not destroy the universe when teen!Tony showed up.
What I was thinking of, though, was what happened in Young Avengers when tiny!Kang didn't go back to his proper place in the timeline, so the entire world began to change. The impression I got from the writing in this series is that something similar was going to happen if the Invaders didn't get put back in place.
Re: Additional Note
...and then there are their memories!
...and this is why Time Travel is always crack and Dubious.
Re: Additional Note
For some reason, it always takes a moment for time to realign itself *thinks of Legacy of Kain*
