ComicCon: Who is going?

As people may or may not know, New York ComicCon is this weekend, Friday through Sunday.

Comment here if you plan to go (ooh, and if you are going, do you plan to cosplay?). Maybe the comm, or at least some of the people *on* the comm, can arrange some kind of meet-up.

Also, is anyone in/around NYC and interested in a fannish meet-up *outside* the con? (i.e. for those who don't want to go/didn't sign up before and don't want to pay extra fees to do so now/etc.)

seanchai not attending, willing to meet up for a fannish gathering outside the con.
elspethdixon possibly/probably attending Saturday or Sunday, also willing to meet up outside the con, may cosplay Gwen Stacy (or Ms. Marvel, if feeling exceptionally brave).

Attending, full weekend. No cosplay-- didn't have time to make one over Xmas break. No idea about evenings, though, as I have RL friends who are going to be there. Still, am interested in who else is going to be there!

Wow, do you guys all live in New York or are you guys skipping work/school to go there? (Or I guess you guys are just willing to travel that much in such a short amount of time)

I wish I could go, but I live, like 500 miles away, and my parents wouldn't pay for the plane tickets.

In that case, I guess I won't be going *sad face* I thought it was annual, like Escapade.

Sadly, no other slash-centric or fandom-centric con in the history of ever is on the East Coast, meaning that there are no other non-anime cons I can go to (seriously, why are they *all* in California or Michigan?).

There's also Muskrat Jamboree in Boston, but they have a strict attendance limit and memberships are all sold out, sadly.

It's the money for places to stay that puts the budget to groaning. Ayup.

Ehh....what we tend to do for cons is reserve one room and then have like, 4 or 7 people stay in that one room with us. It cuts the cost of a $1300 room down to like $200 a person for 4 nights. Which isn't very shabby. Except when you ad don traveling costs... *thinking about Otakon and how she's NOT going this year ;;*
