Canon question: Tony's armor-in-a-briefcase

This question came to mind while in the process of catching up on half a century of canon (yikes): back when Tony was still carting his Iron Man armor in a briefcase, was there ever a time in which danger threatened, but he couldn't reach the case and his armor in time? Because really, Marvel seems to have gone to a lot of trouble to explain HOW the suit fit into the case, but I have yet to come across an instance in which Tony just simply couldn't get to it.

I can't think of any specifics, but there were definitely instances when he was delayed by it not being immediately available. Once he had to dive out a window after it.

In other words it did feature as a problem in the beginning at least. The instances I'm thinking about were either in Tales of Suspense or Ironman 1-25.

At one point in the late Tales of Suspense run, someone stole it and started robbing banks as Iron Man.

I seem to recall one story arc in IM vol 3 (it was around issue 8 or so) where Tony got jumped by some elite thugs-for-hire who threw his briefcase into a river or something and then proceeded to beat the ever-living snot out of him, and then I'm pretty sure it was the Black Widow who found him lying in a dark alley within an inch of his life (and then, of course, he spends the next issue or so being a bad patient... oh, Tony.)
