This is late, and for that I humbly apologise to the mods and, more importantly, to my artist. Sometimes it can be very hard to juggle the Avengers fandom and Stark Industries work.

Summary: Captain Steve Rogers of the Continental Army is sent to secure the help of Iron Man, notorious privateer.
A/N: So a long time ago [livejournal.com profile] velithya requested a Steve/Tony pirate AU, and the thing commandeered my brain and wouldn't let go. It isn't what I expected to write, but it is what it is and I need to clear it from my writing plate before I move onto the reverse big bang.

I fudged a bit of history. Complete geeky author's notes at the end.

Please, please alert me if you see fail.

Summary: Civil engineer Antonio de Medici gains new respect for the visual arts.
A/N: Finally crossposting this! Written a while ago to fulfill an AU drabble request by [livejournal.com profile] kaitou1412, who was a tremendous help to me as far as period detail and general encouragement are concerned.

This takes place in Florence before Cosimo I de Medici was Duke of Florence, so sometime in the 1520s. Da Vinci died in 1519. I have no idea if they had civil engineers at all then, let alone ones devoted to a city-state like Florence. I've substituted some cognate names. Antonio is obviously Tony, Stephen uses the older English spelling of the name, and Giannetta (Gia) for Janet. Henry Pym is just about as English as you can get. It's difficult to walk the line between authenticity and fangirl Japanese, so I hope the names don't get in the way of the story. Apologies if I've butchered any Italian words or names.

Please, please alert me if you see fail.

Antonio stood in his parlor in full armor, cursing whoever decided that armor was the requisite attire for the subject of a formal portrait.

This question came to mind while in the process of catching up on half a century of canon (yikes): back when Tony was still carting his Iron Man armor in a briefcase, was there ever a time in which danger threatened, but he couldn't reach the case and his armor in time? Because really, Marvel seems to have gone to a lot of trouble to explain HOW the suit fit into the case, but I have yet to come across an instance in which Tony just simply couldn't get to it.

Hello! I am really new to the fandom (and trying to catch up on a few decades of canon...), but I have been watching this community for a while now and enjoying bingeing on all the wonderful fic and art. There are amazing things going on here and I am hopelessly hooked now.

To make this legal, have a little Tony covered in grease...in a good way. )
