Cap Might Not Lead The Avengers!

My friend just sent me this clip of Chris Evans discussing Captain America and The Avengers.

--> Watch It Here! (Because It Won't Embed!)

"I don't know if they're going to make him the boss," Evans said of Cap's role in "The Avengers." He added, "His character... He's a good guy."

"Does he [run the show]?" asked Evans. "I don't think anybody tells Downey what to do, and that's what makes [him] Downey."

Can. Stop. Laughing. I don't know if I'm laughing because Evans' comments are comforting (a.k.a. the fact that Robert and Tony are In Charge of the Avengers and the movies' fate) or so so so sad (a.k.a. DUDE, HE'S CAP, OF COURSE HE'S IN CHARGE, EVEN IF YOU'RE BOSSING AROUND ROBBERT!TONY).

Either way: Hilarious.

Uh, he's a closet fanboy and we know it.

But no really, that's amazing.

Oh dear oh dear. Sweetie, do your reading please. You're adorable and clearly intimidated, but Cap Is The Man fullstop.

Cap wasn't leader of the Avengers at the start anyway, Iron Man was. Maybe they can swap off in the second movie.

Yeah, this. Plus i'm a big fan of Tony and Steve leading by committee, and Captain America or not Steve is going to be GREEN coming out of that ice.

Technically nobody was the leader, they all took turns at being chairman every month, even Wasp. And Thor or Iron Man were just as likely to give orders in the field as Cap.

Despite that, I'm kind of hoping this is just fanboy intimidation, because that at least can be solved if Evans'll just get some time to hang out with RDJ and build a working relationship with him (also it's kind of cute).

Well, that depends on the version. The chairperson really did act like the leader, and they didn't have that rotating thing in very long. Like pretty soon, the chairperson was elected by the team (ie how Jan, Monica, Vision, and Natalia were). So when Cap first showed up, they may have had the rotating thing in (haven't reread that of late), but he didn't rotate in for a while, and the first time he did, it was a big deal for him.

I think he's just a little overwhealmed too. I'm sure something will work out by the time they get the movie going.

Oh, right. Sorry, I thought you meant the real-world start, in the 60s. I picked up a trade last month, and was pretty struck by the fact that they let Jan take a turn as a chairman along with the guys. I don't really know how they did things in later incarnations, I haven't gotten that far yet.

Usually Tony runs the bureaucratic/financial side of the Avengers, while Steve handles training and field leadership. At least when they are on the team at the same time. So co-leaders more than anything else.

Yeah... Cap wasn't really in charge of the Avengers when they began. I mean, come on, the guy was just pulled from the ice. He's going to need to adjust to his new surroundings before he becomes the boss.

Hahahaha, I watched this a couple of hours ago and I'm still laughing :P

Anyway, I don't know what to think. First, I get the feeling that he wasn't allowed to talk much about CA or something because usually his answers are quite smart and longer than errr... um... I don't know and you know, he's supposed to be promoting The Losers so maybe that was it. And there's the detail that apparently he doesn't know much about Steve besides the fact that he's a good guy :D

I also agree with the comments above, I love the shared leadership between Tony and Steve and it all depends on the setup because it would be weird if they defroze CA and he just starts bossing everybody around and stuff. IDK, I just thought it was kind of funny how he reacted because he looked pretty terrified by the idea of being the leader.

LOL! I really wanted to comment this with somebody so... ignore me ;D

Yeah, I'm hoping for that too. It would be so enjoyable and amazing :D

Hahaha, that was my favorite part. It was funny in a cute sort of way, idk I'm starting to like Chris a lot :)

I watched this earlier. Poor guy.

I'm all for him now after watching Sunshine.

I think he either wasn't really allowed to talk about the scripts or he really doesn't know alll that much about the Avengers. Which is fine. My first reaction was, "WTF how could you not know?" and then I realized not everyone is quite as geeky as myself. Heh.

And lets face it, Tony and Steve are the "Mom and Dad" of the Avengers. They share responsibility!

I did like the comments about Robert though! So cute!

You just don't boss the Downey around. :D
