Cap Might Not Lead The Avengers!

My friend just sent me this clip of Chris Evans discussing Captain America and The Avengers.

--> Watch It Here! (Because It Won't Embed!)

"I don't know if they're going to make him the boss," Evans said of Cap's role in "The Avengers." He added, "His character... He's a good guy."

"Does he [run the show]?" asked Evans. "I don't think anybody tells Downey what to do, and that's what makes [him] Downey."

Can. Stop. Laughing. I don't know if I'm laughing because Evans' comments are comforting (a.k.a. the fact that Robert and Tony are In Charge of the Avengers and the movies' fate) or so so so sad (a.k.a. DUDE, HE'S CAP, OF COURSE HE'S IN CHARGE, EVEN IF YOU'RE BOSSING AROUND ROBBERT!TONY).

Either way: Hilarious.

Technically nobody was the leader, they all took turns at being chairman every month, even Wasp. And Thor or Iron Man were just as likely to give orders in the field as Cap.

Despite that, I'm kind of hoping this is just fanboy intimidation, because that at least can be solved if Evans'll just get some time to hang out with RDJ and build a working relationship with him (also it's kind of cute).

Well, that depends on the version. The chairperson really did act like the leader, and they didn't have that rotating thing in very long. Like pretty soon, the chairperson was elected by the team (ie how Jan, Monica, Vision, and Natalia were). So when Cap first showed up, they may have had the rotating thing in (haven't reread that of late), but he didn't rotate in for a while, and the first time he did, it was a big deal for him.

I think he's just a little overwhealmed too. I'm sure something will work out by the time they get the movie going.

Oh, right. Sorry, I thought you meant the real-world start, in the 60s. I picked up a trade last month, and was pretty struck by the fact that they let Jan take a turn as a chairman along with the guys. I don't really know how they did things in later incarnations, I haven't gotten that far yet.
