FANART: Afternoon Delight
Title: Afternoon Delight
Author/Artist:
dinahqueen
Summary: Steve and Tony share a moment.
Pairings/Characters: Steve Rogers/Tony Stark
A/N: NSFW-ish, partial nudity. Got the pose idea from Jacopo Camagni. (He is really lovely.) And for anyone wondering about Tony's skin color- well, he is Italian. Also, my knowledge of drawing scars is minimal (read: zero) so- yes. Anyways, enjoy!

Italian?
Italian?
Anthony Edward Stark is the son of Howard Anthony Stark and Maria Carbonell, and the grandson of Howard Stark. On his father's side, he's at least a third-generation American.
According to ancestry.com, the top three countries of origin for the name "Stark" are Germany, Scotland and Prussia. The top three countries of origin for Carbonell are Spain, Cuba and Puerto Rico. Carbonell is also an old Anglo-Norman name.
Seriously, where did you get Italy? I'm not being sarcastic here; I'm genuinely curious, especially since I think I've seen, somewhere, at least one other reference to Tony and Italy. Where is this coming from?
Re: Italian?
I've seen it a lot too, so I just kind of assumed he was. Don't ask me where it came from. xD
Italian, but on his mother's side
Re: Italian, but on his mother's side
I thought he was Italian on his mother's side as well, and just assumed he was. :) I'll probably continue to draw him as such. ^^;
Thanks for the information though!
Re: Italian, but on his mother's side
As far as I've been able to tell from surfing the Internet, Carbonell is a Spanish name, not an Italian name. Even when I google on "carbonell italy", the first name that comes up is Tomás Carbonell, a Spanish tennis player.
"Carbonell" is also an Anglo-Norman name, but I think that the name "Maria Carbonell" is more likely to be Spanish than Anglo-Norman.
Re: Italian, but on his mother's side
Mind, if we bring in Card's wacky Ultimates origin, her name's Cerrera, not Carbonell...and I do believe that Cerrera is pretty uniformly a Spanish name. *shrug*
Re: Italian, but on his mother's side
But I like thinking of him as Italian (half-Italian) and will probably will continue to do so. :> But at least it's a pretty picture. :D (biased, of course here.)

But really, yes red thong is a go! :D
Re: Italian?
This is completely convincing evidence, right?

Re: Italian?
Coming from an artist who can't draw? Not so much.
Actually, I mean JRJR can't draw well, but where's the rhetorical flourish in that kind of carefully modified statement? I know it's unfair of me to judge his pronouncement based on his command of anatomy and facial expressiveness, but screw it, I'm unfair, and I have a long-standing dislike of his work.
Re: Italian?
And too often, his characters look like they're wearing creepy masks of their own faces. Especially Thor.

Re: Italian?
I always imagined Tony's had some Spanish in him...or maybe it's because I can see him flamingo dancing =3
Re: Italian?
Re: Italian?
I googled it. I didn't see it before, now I'm horrified.

Re: Italian?
Though dressing Tony in flamenco gear would be much better. The hat- and he'd have a rose between his teeth, amirite? :D
