Now, what's next for challenges? We plan on holding our third yearly winter fic and art exchange - sign-ups will be running from the start of November. We're planning a friending meme quite shortly, as we have a lot of new people who want to meet people to squee with!

But what else would you like to see in the way of challenges and comm activities? Bingo cards? Comm read-alongs? Another Reverse Big Bang, another Big Bang? Podfic exchanges, drabble-offs?

Comment below, and tell us what you'd like to see more of in the comm!

Friending meme? YOU HAVE MADE ME SO HAPPY. :D

And bingo cards! I vote bingo cards!

[identity profile] grand-duc.livejournal.com 2011-10-03 09:32 pm (UTC)(link)
YAY! We all made it! (by the skin of my teeth, myself, but we all made it)

Bingo cards soons like fun. We could try that? And fic exchange, of course. It was so much fun last year.

I am behind (horribly behind) on posting comments on everyone's work, but I wanted to thank everyone for sharing their talent with us. You all helped me smile during a rough patch, and I want to thank you all for that.

Bingo cards are fun! How does a comm read-along work?

The general theory behind a read along would be picking a piece of canon (such as Marvel Adventures: Iron Man and the Armour Wars, The Ultimates, or Avengers: Red Zone), either dividing it up into individual issues or going for the whole thing at once, and then setting a date to have a discussion of it.

So every one reads the first issue of Iron Man: Extremis by Oct 10th, then someone puts up a post summarising it, and we have at in comments. Possible discussion questions?

I just know I am going to be so drained after both NaNoWriMo and the Winter exchange but somehow that doesn't diminish my enthusiasm for the coming months. PARTICIPATE IN ALL THE CHALLENGES!1

A drabble-off sounds like fun? Or a comment fic fest like the one we had over at DW a number of months back (although really, to me everything sounds like fun).

I'd love another Reverse Big Bang. I've just joined the comm so I'd love to participate this time round!

[identity profile] tammaiya.livejournal.com 2011-10-03 10:00 pm (UTC)(link)
Ditto to Reverse Big Bang! o/ also, yay friending meme!

Oooh. Reverse Big Bang! :)

Bingo cards sound like a lot of fun, and so does the drabble-off. I'd love to say yes to podfic exchanges, but alas, I have no real way to participate. :(

[identity profile] angel-inoshi.livejournal.com 2011-10-04 05:20 am (UTC)(link)
To be honest, when I think of hearing my voice recorded I think I cringe and die. Uuuugh I don't have the "narrator voice" ....or a good quality microphone. But I have heard a few podfics that were amazing *_* and I would like to see more of those in this fandom actually...

Is it really time for winter fic exchanges already? O_o

[identity profile] nightwalker.livejournal.com 2011-10-04 12:27 am (UTC)(link)
Where did my year go?

Bingo cards! And a friending meme sounds like fun.

[identity profile] dangwhyme.livejournal.com 2011-10-04 01:45 am (UTC)(link)
Reverse Big Bang sounds great.

[identity profile] angel-inoshi.livejournal.com 2011-10-04 03:19 am (UTC)(link)
Ya-HA! Challenge completed! [grins] Congratulations guys, we all did it...and look at all the lovely fics and artwork to read/view/comment on <3 As for the new challenge...lol. Ahh...normally I would say Reverse Bang, since I enjoyed it last year, but [thinks] I dunno. Maybe...a bingo card would be fun...I never did that before. What's a comm read along?

[identity profile] angel-inoshi.livejournal.com 2011-10-04 03:25 am (UTC)(link)
Haaaa...I should probably learn how to read comments...nevermind of the comm read along. XD For some reason I had the image of a someone reading to the comm like story-time aaaaah...lawl

I love the idea of doing a comm read-along! Another comm I'm a part of is doing one write now and I love reading everyone's thoughts. What about posts where we could discuss the current comics & Events(like Fear Itself)?
I also really enjoyed the women of Cap/Iron posts from last year. Another series of posts like that would be interesting. Maybe about Cap/Iron Man's supporting characters or thier props/tech or something.

How does a drabble-off work?

[personal profile] muccamukk 2011-10-04 04:05 am (UTC)(link)
I think the read alongs are more likely to be older canon, due to the immense bitterness (and potential wank) surrounding current canon. Plus I think it would be more fun to all read older stuff that maybe not everyone has heard of.

We did try to have themed meta posts at one point last year. I seem to remember writing most of them, and by month three, no one was writing at all.

Drabble off is where we divide the comm into teams, assign a prompt or theme, and whichever team posts the most drabbles in comments wins. More or less.

[identity profile] silver-autumn.livejournal.com 2011-10-04 04:16 am (UTC)(link)
This was a lotta fun! :D

[identity profile] dinahqueen.livejournal.com 2011-10-04 09:04 am (UTC)(link)
:3 Friending meme~!

I still haven't read most of the other entries because I'm a terrible person and have been so spastic lately, but!

I'm all for the reverse bang! Would be awesome to do that in reverse. :3 And uh- I guess bingo card could be fun!

[identity profile] pada-something.livejournal.com 2011-10-04 12:33 pm (UTC)(link)
... i'd just love everything. so much ;o;

[identity profile] m-steelgrave.livejournal.com 2011-10-04 12:38 pm (UTC)(link)
I've been MIA this year, but I would definitely be down with the usual winter fic exchange. I'm not sure what I'd be able to participate in beyond that, but it might be nice to do something with a much smaller threshold as far as time/effort/word count go (not that the quality should suffer, but it takes a tremendous amount of work on the part of artists and authors AND readers to commit to reading lengthier fics). Bingo or a drabble-off might be a nice way to ease some of the newer (or preoccupied) members into that. Of course, I enjoy reading what everyone produces, no matter the format!

[identity profile] espadas.livejournal.com 2011-10-04 02:54 pm (UTC)(link)
It's impossible how happy this comm makes me. Usually I am an insanely shy person which never posts (not even on my own journal, fffft.) and just keeps lurking, but everyone around here is so friendly and nice and SQUEE you make me wanna write again so much. I love you all.

I'd love bingo cards, or fic/art exchange (for christmas! :D), oooor - well I'd love EVERYTHING. xD A read-along sounds great, but I don't know if everyone could participate - it's, for example, sometimes difficult for me as a German to get hold of the english originals of the comics. And reading them in German is just less fun D:

In any way - I am all for it. Everything. Yessss.

YAY! I'm glad you like the comm. We're trying really hard to make it friendly for everyone.

I often use The Book Depository to get trades. I don't know how they are in terms of price in Germany, but they're not too bad in Canada. There's also ABE books, but again I don't know how they are for overseas. I guess you don't have much in used bookstores? That's where I usually trawl for paperbacks.

I really like the idea of a read-along. There's just so much canon that it's difficult coming as a new fan to find discussions of older events, or even to find what old stuff should be read.

I am also all for any challenges. One thing I've enjoyed in previous fandoms are Clichefests - masquerades, accidental bondings, sex pollen, arranged marriages, body swapping, de-aged kidfic, hidden royalty, 'sex or we'll die', blanketfic, 'pretending to be in a relationship for a mission', love potions, trapped in a small space... embracing the cheese.

I really liked the last read-along we did, so I'd totally be up for another one. It's a good way to motivate myself to read more of the older canon.

Having done a couple of really long fics in a row, I think I want to do a few short pieces next, just to take the pressure off myself. OTOH, if a reverse big bang happens, I may not be able to resist...

When did we do a read-along? I'm trying to remember and my brain is failing me.

Meh, Reverse bangs are only 6k min. That's totally short!

Is a reverse Big Bang where artists draw something and then authors write for the pictures? If so, this is an intriguing concept. :3b

I would also be up for a read-along, and a winter exchange would be fun! Also, friending meme! :D :D
