Who's interested in a Big Bang?

The Reverse Big Bang is slouching towards a close (I was totally Late McLaterson, myself) and so it is time to start thinking about other challenges and fests and exchanges and all the good stuff we like. Obviously the fannish landscape has changed a little, and there are more general Avengers comms and challenges, so people may have other commitments. The mods bend with the will of the membership - do you fancy a Big Bang this summer, like we did last year? Perhaps you'd like to do something different, which you will specify in comments to this entry?

In the event of a Big Bang, I was thinking signups this month, writing in June, July and August, art in September, posting in October, min length 25k.

So, talk to me. :) What would you like to do?

A Big Bang sounds great; I was too preoccupied to participate in the Reverse Big Bang but over summer I should have enough spare time to get around to write down some of the ideas that have been festering in my mind these couple of months. b

Last time we discussed this, I believe we talked about a drabble-off as well? Which might be fun for people who don't have time to write 25k of fic. And/or a more art-oriented challenge.

I'm probably going to regret this considering how much I twitch when doing big bangs, but I'd love to give this a shot. I was actually going to ask the mods if there was going to be one this year.

I'll probably be all stupid and agree to participate even though I know I shouldn't. xD But, yeah, big bangs are fun, and sometimes I even complete them! (:

I'd love a big bang!

Yes please! I am going to be so bored this summer, and I really enjoyed my first Big Bang. I'd love to do another.

I just thought I would let you know that the new [livejournal.com profile] marvel_bang has pretty much those exact dates but it is a lot shorter and more general so I don't know if the two bangs would hinder each other.

I'd love to get into the fandom and I love a big bang, so I'd totally be signing up.

[identity profile] lil-shepherd.livejournal.com 2012-05-10 05:41 pm (UTC)(link)
Lord knows, I don't normally do fests of any kind, but... I may actually sign up for this one.

[identity profile] j-green-teeth.livejournal.com 2012-05-10 10:46 pm (UTC)(link)
I would sign up. I have an idea for a long fic and really need deadlines if I ever want it to see the light of day.

[identity profile] ladywilde80.livejournal.com 2012-05-10 11:52 pm (UTC)(link)
I would LOVE to do a big bang for this pairing. That would be aweome.

[identity profile] titania2006.livejournal.com 2012-05-11 12:31 am (UTC)(link)
I can't write anything that long, but I would read the SHIT out of all the fics.

Also, I'd totally be willing to beta.

[stares at word count] 25k....is something I've never actually tried writing. I usually do artwork when it comes to Big Bangs [sideways glance] and I just signed up for an Avengers Reverse Bang but...whatever I decide to sign up for...it should be fun. Yeah [nods] I say on with the Bang! On a more artsy note...I'm with for more art challenges of some sort.

Maybe we can have a mini Reverse...er drabble? Perhaps more interactive, where an artist can post a sketch or whatever to the comm ("bait"...lol) and then writers can come up with a small drabble to go along with it? Like...say you have artist sign-ups...but instead of being paired with an author, the art would be posted to the comm everyday/other day/week...and then it'll be treated like a prompt. Maybe have some pitch hitters in-case no one fills an art-prompt...or go with an incentive...like those who "fill" all prompts within the Reverse Drabble post gets a special award...a Tony award :) lawl [dips Tony in golden chocolate] or Steve....either or.

WHY MUST YOU TEMPT ME. I AM NOW TEMPTED. *IF* a Big Bang were to happen, I'd probably want to join in.

(SOMEONE TALK ME OUT OF IT.)

If you do another big bang, I'll definitely make art! \o/

A Big Bang sounds awesome, I've been writing fic a lot lately so I know that's something I'd be up for. Also if you're worried about participation you could always advertise it on tumblr I know a few blogs who'd be interested right off the bat. Plus it gets the word out to a wider audience.

As for other possible ideas for the comm in general that I know other comms (not comic specific) do are: one-sentence memes/prompt posts, anything but fic meme (right what it says on the tin, prompt something someone fills it through art, gifs, or a video), everything goes meme, regular prompt post, friending post, weekly/monthly rec posts, and even watch parties of the movies (we do this on one tv-couple comm watch movies that relate back to the couple or episodes that feature them heavily).

And that's all I got hope that's somewhat helpful MODs

A Big Bang sounds fun if nerve wracking. My summer is pretty open on the creative project front and a BB would be a great way to get motivated and have a certain dead line to work towards.

Has there ever been a post that explains rules and tips and things for 1st time Big Bang participants? If not, there should be. I know so little about it!

Seconded on that last bit.

Valtyr, I'm not even going to contemplate this at the moment (though I want to!) given I'm crawling out of the three-way pile up that was Reverse Bang, Avengers Bang, and My Job Dear God. I just wanted to say, I think as of today I'm the very last of the RBs outstanding, and I am done and packed off to beta. Given I might actually make my Avengers posting date on time, however, I'm thinking I'll post that first. So I'll keep pushing the giant wheelbarrow of my shame, and have them both up here by the end of the week. Seriously... I am so, so sorry.

please please please

I wasn't in the fandom last year when you guys had yours, but I've devoured almost all of the results. There were a lot of fantastic stories and art produced, and I'd love to try and contribute this year!
