Notes: A fill for this prompt over at the Avengers kinkmeme. It was supposed to be a 500~ word fill, but...I can't do anything short these days, it seems.

( more importantly there is a hole in his chest, a metal-rimmed hole that Steve knows will haunt his dreams in nights to come )

( He's joked about this, wondered if there really was a human in there under that soldier, but there's the other piece of it: Steve is real, is too intense not to be real. )
