Plus, Tony carrying around the phone? Yes please!

Yes, I loved it so much. When he just pulled it out of the pocket so casually, hehe. "Not on speaking terms, Bruce. Oh, yeah, ehm this? I just keep it with me at all times. Nothing to it."

I can just imagine him occasionally taking the phone out, staring at the contact, muttering about whatever it is that just bothers him and that he impulsively wanted to say to Steve and then berating himself and putting it away again.

Oh god, yes, he would totally be like that. He probably stuffs the phone into his pocket impulsively the first time, gets angry at himself or Steve for even doing that, puts it back, and then next day takes it with him again. considers calling, hopes Steve will call - but nothing happens. And he keeps muttering at it and finally just keeps it close.

Exactly! And it some point it's almost therapeutic to have it with him. It's like having Steve in his pocket that he can rant to without any backlash. It's a little piece of hope that keeps him going through the rough days, that makes him feel safe. It's a connection to his family. Dyfunctional maybe, but still his family.

XD Yes

And muttering about flip phones every single time and feeling so offended.

Flip phone

Don't forget: Tony not only carries that phone, but keeps it charged too.

Naturally. ;) It just goes to show how much he cares that he even touches the thing, never mind carrying it with him for two years.
