Help! What to buy?

So, my mom gave me a gift card with the directions to buy myself a trade paperback that had to do with the Avengers for my b-day. I think this is a sign I've talked her ears off way to much about the upcoming movie and about the stuff I've read in the kind guide posts here. There is only one problem. I've no clue what to get.

Besides the Avenger comics I read from a friends collection in middle school the only stuff I've read has been the free digital comics on the marvel site. The Extremis story line being the one that sticks out the most. However, this really gives me no idea where to even start as far as what to get.

I want to get one that I'll reread and also really shows the 616 versions of the characters. I love the characters in EMH, but I do know that it is more of an idealized version of the characters. I really like Ironman, Jan and Hawkeye in EMH. Captain America in EMH seems rather 2 dimensional, but from stuff I've seen in resources and the digital stuff the 616 version looks rather cool and I'd like to get to know him more. Do ya'll have any suggestions, advice or resources I can use to decide? (Note: I don't want to read illegal pirated stuff to decide.)

Avengers After Party

After almost a year or so of waiting 'The Avengers' are finally coming to the big screen on Friday (May 4). After you watch the movie ,mosey on all over to Avengers After Party that I'm hosting on my dreamwidth. Where you can discuss, gripe, or hell just plain squee about the movie to your heart's content.
