There's always at least two
cap_ironman events happening, but sometimes we just want to have a fun and share our love of Steve/Tony with a group of likeminded fans...
β¦ the Stony Trivia Quiz might be that event for you!
Here's what you need to know:The trivia quiz will run similarly to an online pub quiz which will be hosted on Discord, so you do need an account (these are free to
sign up for).
We'll have a dedicated channel where questions and answers for each round are posted, as well as the scoreboard. This channel will be "view-only", to keep the important stuff from being lost. We'll also have a channel for spectators and participants to chat throughout the quiz.
Schedule
31 May 2021: Team sign-ups will officially open - you are welcome to start organising your teams before then!
11 June 2021: Team sign-ups will close
12 June 2021,starting at 20:00 UTC (what time is that for me?): The quiz will be held on our
Cap-IM Challenges Discord. Everyone is welcome to come spectate and cheer teams on!
Event Guidelines
- Participants can be any age.
- Googling or otherwise looking up the answers is not permitted.
- There must be at least 3 teams signed up for the quiz to be held.
- Teams can have 2-5 members. They cannot "call a friend" during the quiz, and audience members are not permitted to give hints.
- Teams must submit team name, rosters and the team leader to the event mod team by emailing cap.im.events@gmail.com up to 1 day before the event in order to sign up. The Team Leader will be the person that conveys all quiz answers and team actions to the Judge.
- Teams can choose how to set up communication between themselves β we suggest a group Discord DM chat, and also/or a Google doc that is shared by all team members
How the Quiz Runs
- Roll call! Don't forget to wake your teammates up
- We will have a "test" question at the start of the quiz so that teams can confirm that their set-up works!
- Stage 1 of the quiz consists of 5 rounds of 4 questions, each worth 1 point.
- Quiz questions for a round will be posted at the 30 second intervals.
- After the final question of the round, the teams will have 1 minute to debate and rethink their questions. The Team Leader must hand hand in the round's answers before this time is up.
- Team Leaders will need to hand in their answers in one post for each round, with their team name at the top.
- They will do this by DMing the Judge, and must keep their answers private until the answers for that round are posted.
- Teams may not edit their DM — doing so means they forfeit all the points from that round.
- After all answers have been handed in, the official answers will be posted publicly by the Host, and everyone can discuss answers and chat for 3 minutes while the Judge totals up points.
- There will be a 5-minute interval between Stage 1 and Stage 2.
- The two highest-scoring teams in Stage 1 will play against each other in Stage 2; one round of 10 difficult questions, each worth 1 point. The winner of Stage 1 will begin with 1 point as an advantage, 2nd place will begin with zero points at the start of the round. If there is a tie between the two highest-scoring teams, no extra points will be awarded.
- At the end of Stage 2, if there is a tie, the teams will proceed to the sudden death stage.
- Teams have up to three appeals per round regarding answers. The Judge's decision is the final word regarding answers.
- The event will be run on the Cap-IM challenges server and is subject to the rules of the server and community. It will be hosted in the all-ages section of the server.
- The winner of the quiz will be the top-scoring team in Stage 2 of the quiz.
So round up some fandom friends or put a call out in your social media feed for some team members, and let's get quizzing!
