There's just one week left until the 2021 Cap-IM Big Bang drafts are due!

This is a friendly reminder that story drafts are due by the very end of 15 September ("What time is that for me?"). Send us yours to cap.im.events@gmail.com following the protocol listed in our Writers’ Guidelines and you’re all signed up for the Bang!

On 16 September, a preview post showing all the fic summaries and claiming instructions will go up, and then on 18 September at 08:00 EDT ("What time is that for me?"), claims will open. Remember that you do not need to claim a fic yourself if the time doesn't suit; you can ask someone to proxy-claim for you. Anonymous comments will be enabled on the claims post.

Please keep in mind that summaries are posted anonymously during claims, so we urge you to be tactful about revealing any fic details during the pre-claim period. If you need to drop out, you must do so before your work has been claimed; because this is a collaborative challenge, there is no penalty-free drop out after this point.

As a reminder, here's the rest of this year's schedule:

October: Creators work on their piece(s), writers finish their fics
Saturday, October 23rd: Teams select their November posting dates
November: BB entries are posted throughout the month

Our last BB writer encouragement chat is open to all writers who are planning to join Cap-IM Big Bang 2021. Come and cheer each other on, ask questions about the submission process, and do some writing sprints to get your stories to that 20K word count!

Chat times are 12 September, 13:00-16:00 ET (What time is that for me?). Here is a Discord invite for the server. Pop in any time you like during chat hours, but if you can't make it, don't worry — the #bb channel is open 24/7 for you.

EVENT INFORMATION | WRITERS' GUIDELINES | GUIDELINES FOR CLAIMING CREATORS | FAQ POST

The Cap-Iron Man Big Bang is a Steve/Tony fest where writers work to create a story of 25K words or more, and artists (including giffers and manippers), fanvidders and podficcers create an accompanying work based on the story they claim.

Please make sure to read over all the event guidelines, even if you've participated in our Big Bang before. We'd like to highlight the new eligible fanworks you can create from this year's event onwards (as per the Community Survey that took place in early 2021).

Accompanying fanwork minimum requirements from claiming creators are:

at least one traditional or one digital artwork
a fanvid of at least one minute
a fanmix with cover art (writers must opt in)
a podfic of at least one scene (writers must opt in)
at least two manips or gifs (writers must opt in)

Writers can still submit a draft for claims if it is ~80% complete and 20K or over, but stories must be complete if you want to opt into being claimed by a podficcer.

This year, the #rbb channel is open as a semi-moderated space all day every day! At this stage, we ask that only prospective artists and fanvidders request the role, so that they can talk about their work freely and share their progress with each other without giving it away before claims!

Get excited, everyone - there are still THREE WEEKS TO CREATE COMMUNITY GIFTS!

We are opening a space in the Cap-IM Challenges Chat Discord to chat about the prompts that inspire you, or that you wish that someone would create for. Ask for a beta, squee over the adorable ideas that other people have, and have a great time!

The Community Gifts channel will be open 24/7, but please note that event mods will only be popping in and out as their schedules allow - this will not be a fully moderated space.

So go on! Browse through the many prompts, pick your faves, and get creating!

Once you finish your gift, submit it to the 2020 AO3 collection and gift it to the “Cap Iron Man Community”. Community Gifts are due by December 27, 22:00 UTC (what time is it for me?).

Remember, anyone can create a fills, and you can make as many Community Gifts as you like, in whatever format you like!
