I agree when it comes to Pepper. I really liked them as a couple in the first two, it still worked there. But once she had a problem with something that is such a big part of Tony and that he clearly won't just give up, it fell apart there. You can't build a relationship when you need your partner to change an essential part of him/her, and that's what she is asking here. I would have preferred it if they were left as close friends or, and that would be even better, if they hadn't given her this hesitance and instead made her Rescue.
I can't see the woman who went along with SHIELD agents and helped Tony stop Obadiah (in many ways) in the first movie or that stayed and helped taking down Hammer and coordinating the evacuation as someone hating Iron Man. Maybe she's scared (for Tony and of the Iron Man, in a sense), but I still don't feel that is doing the character justice. She is kickass in her own way and it feels, to me, that they're taking it away from her by making her the nagging wife trope.

Well the presence of an unopened text message at the top means someone texted Tony and he hasn't read it. It could be spam for all we know! But... I think it's A+ trolling by Marvel and we're certainly going to read meaning into it, right???? :-)

Also I get to translate all my “Steve Thinks Tony is Dead” feelings from AA onto the MCU

10/10 would definitely read!

I think Tony is the key to reversing everything, otherwise Strange wouldn't have spared him.

My guess is that they somehow get the gauntlet and either Tony or Steve are able to wear it and make reverse everything.

The only thing is, for the soul stone, will they need to sacrifice someone in order to wield it? And if so, who is going to die? And maybe stay dead?

I completely agree. I know she gets scared for him when he's fighting. And I know that they have come to some sort of balance about him being an absent-minded genius, flaky workaholic. But Tony IS Iron Man. He will always be the one who goes to cut the wire (or lie down on it if he has to). And I hate it that they keep showing her as someone who can't deal with it while at the same time presenting them as "relationship goals." Relationship rule #1 is you can't make the other person change.

Maybe the end of A4 will have Tony finally retire, but that's not in-character for him if trouble came knocking on Earth's door again. (Now if they had introduced Riri a few movies ago...)

Meanwhile, I'm over here fangirling over The Phone with everyone else here. :-)

When I saw that Hulk Buster, I wondered what Steve felt like, seeing that familiar armor so close but Tony's not there T_T

Ayyyy, and here I thought I had no stevetony feels for this movie. For real tho, Evans did PERFECT in this movie, just with Cap's physical nuances, just like AoU. I remember when they were talking about getting the stone out of Vision, and he said he knew somebody, I really expected him to say 'Tony' instead of Shuri because his expression was so longing. I love the idea that he keeps having to remind himself that he has to think of Tony alternatives.

I wonder how many times he Steve ran into a situation and thought, I should get Tony and--oh.

I'm waiting till this weekend to watch it again-- I'll look out for that scene!

Fucking hell @ Thor's whole arc in IW. Like, I really want him and Tony to give each other an extra large hug bc Tony's gonna bear the burden of losing 1/2 of earth and Thor is the absolute last of his people left (except for wherever Sif and Valkyrie are).

Yeah...I don't think much logic was going into his plan. And I swear I will only forgive the tears and the long-ass backstory if Gomora and Nebula get to stab him in the end. Otherwise, that was a waste of screentime which could have gone to Steve and Tony longing for each other.

Yeah idk, I have no memory of this! People were quoting it on tumblr and I didn't even know Steve'd said it, much less about Tony. Haha, I suppose I have no choice but to see it again :DD

Oh agony.

(I have to resist for a week or so, to let it settle before I see it again with fresh eyes)

YES I love this. Tony alternatives XD
Not to mention coming back to the compound and seeing Tony in every single inch of it. No wonder he was so sullen and looking sad the whole time T_T

Rhodey looking out for Sam was so great! Did he call him "Sammy" at one point or did I mishe

ooh when I saw your comment I just had to confirm it when I saw it again because sammy??? so cute???
but I think Rhodey said sth like: sam, ya gonna get your wings fried, but really fast? and it sounded like sammy because of that. my eas could be wrong though.

speaking of Rhodey, there was something bugging me about him when he had an argument with Ross, because that scene sounded like Rhodey changed his mind about the accord, and Cap was right all along. Idk if Rhodey said that just to piss off Ross or genuinely having second thoughts, but I thought it was bad taste to treat the issue of the accord that way, so lightly, when Civil War was still so fresh.

I really liked that they didn't force the confrontation here. I hope that means there'll be a nice reuninon in Av4, but even just now this whole movie felt like an epic statement on "Avengers should work together", and specifically "Tony and Steve need to work together to solve this".

So much this.

Oh yeah, I also wasn't sure about "sammy" vs "sam ya" when I watched it :-)

Yeah, I felt like when Rhodey said that, he was saying more like he understood that Ross & Co aren't the people to work with. Not that he specifically disagrees with the accords. I know I'm reaching a bit here, but the idea that Rhodey changed his mind from the last CW scene to now without a reason why, is kind of too weird to consider. I do think he believes in the Accords (maybe not in current shape) but I also think that doesn't mean he thinks Cap & the others should be fugitives.

I like the idea that they can disagree about policy/politics and still work together.

I basically agree with this. The scene between Rhodey and Steve really could have done with a sentence or two of internal conflict/hesitation from Rhodey, that would have made it less jarring. But not only is Tony missing and possibly presumed dead again, which means Rhodey is holding the fort alone (Vision is gone as well at that point), but in a situation that dire, with Thanos a minute away, Ross is still insisting on calling Steve et al war criminals who are to be hunted instead of trying for any kind of constructive and helpful solution. That wouldn't sit well with Rhodey regardless of his stance on the Accords, so when Steve shows up at personal risk to help, he's okay with that. (My actual problem is that they made Ross the sole face and executor of the Accords after T'Chaka's death, but that's a left-over Civil War problem.)
