NOTES: I'm sorry, folks. I fully intended to write porn for this prompt. But when I saw down to do it, the muses abandoned me. :-( So you get a few paragraphs of "does this count as fic?" exposition that I've been pondering instead.

The gossip columns and tabloids speculate endlessly about Tony's sex life. The endless string of dates inspired one of two reactions: either he's easily bored and therefore in need of exotic entertainment, or he's wildly sexually adventurous and quickly scares off his bedmates. It doesn't matter than Tony had only actually slept with a handful of people. Okay, maybe two handfuls. The point is, the media is utterly convinced that his bedroom antics could put an adult video store out of business if only there were tapes.

This made the reactions interesting when he and Steve went public with their relationship, because half the media seemed to think that Captain America didn't even know what sex was. After the first storm of confusion was over, the gossips settled into a series of "stories" which revealed Tony's increasingly bizarre kinks one at a time and predicted, each and every time, that Steve was absolutely, definitely, on the verge of leaving him this time.

But months went by and Steve didn't go anywhere. Finally, some mysterious tabloid threshold was reached and the stories started speculating on what bizarre kinks Steve must have to keep Tony interested for so long.

The truth is, Steve is damn near as vanilla as everyone thinks. He has a more than aesthetic appreciation for certain items out of Tony's wardrobe, he loves dirty talk (even though he has to be on the verge of coming before he can reciprocate), and he's willing to indulge Tony in a little light bondage. That's about it.

But the dictionary definition of "kink" is "bizarre or unconventional sexual preferences." In that sense Steve has one huge kink, a kink that, for Tony, dwarfs all other kinks.

He wants to be with Tony just because it's him. Steve doesn't need anything else.

You may not believe me, but I really like this- in some ways, more than porn. (Although I do love me some Crimson-brand porn. Mmmm....where were we?) It fills in one of those little gaps in Steve and Tony's relationship- namely, where Tony's playboy attitude and Steve's innocence intersect. And it made me go aww at the end- I can see Steve being that straightforward about it with Tony, and Tony loving him forever because of it. You show us how two diverse people fit together, and it's making me tear up a little.

You know, it's strange, but folks in this fandom seem to appreciate non-porn more than in other fandoms I've been in. In other fandoms the porn always got the most feedback, but in this one it's an even bet.

It fills in one of those little gaps in Steve and Tony's relationship- namely, where Tony's playboy attitude and Steve's innocence intersect.

This is something that I had been working out in my own brain, because it's one of those things that make people doubt the pairing. So naturally, I have to have an explanation. *g*

And it made me go aww at the end- I can see Steve being that straightforward about it with Tony, and Tony loving him forever because of it.

So many people have screwed around with Tony, especially romantically, that it makes sense to me that he would find honesty and ordinary, vanilla, genuine desire extraordinarily attractive. I wasn't sure if my rationalizations would work for others, though. I'm glad they do!

You show us how two diverse people fit together, and it's making me tear up a little.

And the ending is just warm and fluffy and perfect. I love Tony thinking of Steve just wanting him for him as something "bizarre or unconventional." It's sort of sweet and sad at the same time.

*grins* You know, I find it silly sometimes how North American values turn sex into something shameful half the time, while considering really awful violence perfectly acceptable. Virtuous shouldn't have to equal pure and celibate!

I actually burst out laughing when I read that line. That is GOLD. And the media being confused about Captain America actually knowing what sex is was quite funny, and sadly, I can see that. I suppose they can always blame Tony for being the evil seducer of one of their country's most important and beloved national icons.

The last two lines were so sweet, because for Tony, that would be a big thing. Steve doesn't want him for his money, or just because he's a genius, or because he's famous, or anything else. He just loves Tony. The end.

I'm supposed to discourage this? *grins* I keep (quietly!) hoping for a prequel to your tabloid series in which the tabloids lead to Tony and Steve getting together in the first place. :-D

I bet there was a tabloid headline or two along those lines. Poor Steve. And now I have this mental image of him speaking to reporters for some reason, and the subject comes up, and he gets so frustrated that he bursts out with some sort of comment about the frequency and quality of the sex he and Tony have, and then is utterly mortified that he actually said that out loud...to reporters. And that night it's all over the news, and Steve refuses to come out of his and Tony's bedroom because he's so embarrassed, not realizing that this is just making all the other Avengers snicker even more, while providing additional material for teasing.

The last two lines were so sweet, because for Tony, that would be a big thing. Steve doesn't want him for his money, or just because he's a genius, or because he's famous, or anything else. He just loves Tony. The end.

It's kind of sad that this is so unusual for Tony, but as an author I kind of like it, because it makes his relationship with Steve that much more tender and special. *hugs the boys*

Awwwww. *melts* This is the fluffiest kinky fic I've ever read. I really like the way you have the progression going from rampant speculation on Tony's kinkiness (the image of him scaring off his lovers with nipple clamps and cat o'nine tails cracked me up) to debates over how kinky Steve had to be made perfect sense...as did the conclusion. You play deftly on Tony's brokenness (oh Tony, loving you isn't bizarre, surely!) without dwelling on it too painfully...in short, I loved it. :)

I even had the particular kind of porn all planned out in my brain! And then the muse just wasn't in the mood at all. *facepalm* It's a good thing these two are so easy to write fluff about! And playing on what the tabloids must think of a relationship between two people that seem, on the surface, to be such opposites is always fun. :-)

I'm totally not even halfway in the "know" on Avengers. But I found a Tony/Steve and then most are just so well-written and full of greatness that I ignore I have no idea what's really going on beyond a very cursory knowledge of them and just enjoy the love.

It's soooooooooooooo sweet. I love how fluffy you made it, definitly not what I was expecting when I looked at the title, but all the sweeter because of it.

It's really sad that Tony would think Steve loving him is a big kink though... Tony, lots of people love you. It's just sad that he doesn't realize it. Make me want to go hurt those who hurt him... but I think Steve would do an even better job.
