This is more Orson Scott Card's Ultimate iron man than 616 one

With the whole Rhodey (so where's the black girl?) and Stark's dad being alive thing. I'll just consider this 1616 canon, and even then, it's dodgy cannon. But if it gets the children to read the comics, and expands the character to a younger audience, that's good, I guess? I have a fear that the comic book will die out when us older folk do.

I'm rather torn, because there's already going to be a new Avengers cartoon (with Ironman as the leader. LOL! I love Stark, but him leading over Captain America? Hahahahahahahaha.... no), and I really don't want Stark to be over exposed. Another reason why I'm rather stink eye at this cartoon is the whole Mandarin thing, because Mandarin is powerful, and boy! Stark taking him on? No.

But I'm glad that there's some Daddy issues in this cartoon. Stark wouldn't be Stark without said issues, you know?

I mean *canon*

What is good will go on.

I'm in my early twenties for now, and I prefer the original Star Trek over all spin-offs, I adore Bob Dylan, and if I have godchildren or some such I will totally send them stuff like Marvel Adventures for Christmas.

As long as stuff are still being re-run, they won't die, and then there is the fact that geek is a subculture now, there are subcultures, there are geek parents who are friends who watches sci-fi with their children instead of (or in addition to) football. Did American Football die out when the first fans did, even though it's a supposed manly sport with more chest padding than a junior high prom?

I thought making Iron Man the leader of the Avengers was pretty conceivable. I mean, first of all, this is quite blatently made to tie into the film canon and so far things seem to indicate that it will essentially be Tony Stark's team (Fury approached HIM and then Stark sought out Bruce Banner).

Also, in the comics it always seemed to me that Tony was the one pulling the strings anyway. Cap may have been the field leader, but as long as Stark kept signing the cheques, the team was essentially his.

That said, the Iron Man cartoon still sucks.

I think it's a joint leadership, sometimes involving Wasp or Storm

Thor and Hulk are fighters, and Peter and Hank are full on nerds. Tony is a nerd but he's also a business man, so he knows how to budget and deal with the politicians (pre-Extremis?). Steve is a solider, he's been in a chain of command structure so leading is natural to him, as is following when the other person has the better idea. I love how when the group splits up, Iron Man and Cap always go together, and cooperate equally so well.

From the few scenes I've seen of Wasp, she takes a lot of initiative. In Marvel Adventures, Storm is cast as the seasoned leader. Steve directs them in the field, but Storm directs them off-field and point out areas of improvement in a constructive manner. Hmmm, in fact, Storm seem to lead more than Steve and Tony, who somehow seem younger. This might account for the fluffy atmosphere, things are always fluffier when there is a grown up doing the spotting.

Yeah

Yeah, what you said. But then, Storm always had that untouchable, regal kickass goddess vibe about her, you know?

Commenting just on the title of your post: in no way is this as good as that verse. I was hoping they'd adapt that into a cartoon because it would of been 1000000% better. The only similarity is that they're kids and he has the armor. Similarities end there. Hokeyness begins from there on out.

I thought the Ult verse didn't have the arc reactor? Unless I seriously missed something D:

Haha, Happy punches a guy in the face that was insulting Tony, and Tony's like 'tut tut! there'll be none of that ungentlemanly stuff in my factory >:|' Poor Happy is so dejected XD

I hear you, but I didn't like Card's verse much

[identity profile] jazzypom.livejournal.com 2008-11-30 10:51 am (UTC)(link)
I think because I was reading Ultimates IM before Cards own, and the two didn't really start to jive together until late in the fame.

I don' t like the Tony as kid universe cartoon anyway. But whatever man, let it live.

Tony's father actually dies in the first few minutes of the first episode. In the plane crash that kills him, Tony sustains The Wound of Destiny.
