There is a metric ton of squee to be had here (skinny little pre-serum Steve, "stay who you are...not just a soldier, but a good man", yes, DO WANT). You know what I'm going to concentrate on though? I love his little eyes over the shield at the end. That just seems like the perfect Steve-reaction- he's not going to say how shocked he is, because that would be impolite, but he is actually very shocked.

does anyone know why they're referring to him as the First Avenger? Is it just so people who only know about the movies will link him with The Avengers? Or are they just referring to him as the first one, after the fact? Because, I could be wrong but, I thought the term Avenger was coined while Steve was still frozen on ice. Idk, it's been bothering me.


Now, I'm super excited for the movie, but I was a little underwhelmed by the preview. There was a lot to squee over, but I think I was expecting a little more from a first preview that was airing during the superbowl.

Probably just to link him to the movie, since it's unlikely the Avengers Initiative will be started in WWII unless they're messing with canon more than they already have. Possibly just that he's the first to become a superhero, chronologically, and avenge... things...

I am hoping it is good. At least, minus the cleft chin, Chris Evans looks the part. And he looked like he buffed up for it. :D Not too thrilled with the random female addition- but hey, romance sells these days.

I hope the First Avenger is just to link him to the movie. But I also think it's just because he was the first superhero (I guess) and thats what they mean by Avenger.

It was really sad, only my fiance and I knew who Captain America was. And my fiance's mother. But it was great, she was like "Well, I know what we're getting Bonnie for her birthday, tickets to see that movie." and I was like Yaaaay! :D

I sat through like 2 hours of football for this trailer and then my friend and I left... so worth it. Short, but still worth it ;)

Was kinda cool to have the whole room calm down for those few seconds too. Nice to see some people know and respect the Captain.

Haha, exactly. I spent like two hours poking at potato skins and chatting on twitter and THEN STEVE HAPPENED! And after the squealing died down, I went to sleep. I only found out when I woke up who won. XD

Wow, they did a fantastic job of Teeny Steve. And Peggy is cute! The shooting is adorable. The Red Skull mask looks good. The shield looks good too, the way he's handling it, not silly.

I'm not entirely sure about the action scenes, but I guess they're still working on those and they'll look different in context.

EEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! It's short, but I'm loving Chris as Steve. Love love love. He's adorable and oh-so earnest. Would have liked to see more hints at the plot, but I'm sure we'll get more trailers later.

I hate to say, but I am head!retconning this as Gail, until someone proves to me that Marvel will be able to handle Sharon without making it all incredibly creepy. And considering that Marvel is Zero for ELEVENTY BILLIONTY on the "not making things skeevy" scale... :\

What, how did I miss this post? I POSTED HERE LIKE THREE HOURS AFTER THIS WENT UP. why did I have to find out via anon meme, is the real question...I'm a terrible fan.

SO BASICALLY, I had my volume turned up to 11 and omg, the squeeing that did commence. I have to admit that Chris Evans plays him a bit less...larger than life than I was hoping (at least in the commercial!), but he's definitely got the dorkiness down. And that is the part that I love.

And the shield! :DDDDD
