Last time Tony made Steve a new shield, he tried it out in the training room. I have no idea why he immagined the living room was a good idea.

It's kind of borderline on the slashy, but Tony did put a lot of his company resources into making the thing, and it sets up moment #100 really well.

It reminds me of a Mastercard commercial. "Queen Ann table: $2,000. Custom chenille drapes: $8,000. Ming vase: $$$$. SI resources dedicated to duplicating one of a kind steel-vibranium alloy: $$$$. Making your boyfriend happy: priceless."

Also, custom chenille drapes, Tony? Really?

Oh, yay! I was going to suggest that one when I came across it again today. :)

The floating "what a man!" thought bubble in Avengers #214 kills me every time. It's so classically "enthusiastic appreciation of male hotness" in tone that I'm tempted to ascribe it to Tigra (since she's the only person present who could be admiring Steve's hotness in a heterosexual way), but the only person doing an inner monologue in that panel is Tony, and it does seem to logically follow his "Oh, Steve! You put us all to shame! *swoon* *sigh*" thoughts.

He reminds me of everyone surrounding Ace Rimmer from Red Dwarf

Avengers Annual #1: Tony can't stop thinking about how wonderful Steve is. (I think this goes between moments 25 and 54, chronologically.)

Okay, this is getting ridiculous. Tony has the most epic crush in the history of the world.

Doesn't he, though? *g* I'm back to reading through the old Avengers stuff, so I'll try not to swamp you... But here's one from Steve's POV: Even Quicksilver can see how much Steve worries about Tony. (Avengers v.1 #46, immediately after the Annual moment I just posted.)

Swamp away. We need more early moments. The list is very heavily weighted to the more recent stuff because more people have read it.

The early stuff is so much fun, too! About ten more issues of the Avengers, and then I'm off to play back and forth between that series, Iron Man, and Captain America... so much cheesy 60s greatness!

I believe it's a really very stylish plaid/checked/something or other green suit. (Stylish for the time, anyway...) Because, y'know, a suit is de rigeur when you're going to take in a baseball game... *snerk*

The ToS moment is the latest of all the ones I've posted, I think, and the Avengers #7 is the earliest.

It's been a marathon comic-reading weekend...
Captain America v.1 #112: The entire issue is Tony reliving Cap's glory days in a sort of eulogy... but this in particular: Tony nearly breaks down upon hearing of Steve's death.

Okay, how many funerals has Steve had? There's that one, the one in the late four hundred run of volume one, one during Heroes Reborn, and the one after CW?

I... think that's it. More than Tony Stark and less than Duncan McLeod.

ROFL! I love the analogy there. I'm not sure if he actually makes it to a funeral with this one -- I won't be reading the follow-up issue until tomorrow. Tony rambles on and on and on and on about Cap's adventures while he's "closing his file"... after the moment I posted up above.

Somewhere, I hope there's someone who makes a living just out of making gravestones for superheroes. They'd be rich. Seriously. "What, Mr. Stark again? That's the second one this year..."

I wouldn't dare spoil what happens at in the next issue, save that it's hilarious and awesome.

I think when I did the sweep through the early stuff that you're doing now, I wasn't looking for slashy moments, then when I was I could never find anything again. I appreciate the time you're taking to pick them out.

I'm having a blast reading the early stuff. I'm fairly OCD about new ~~obsessions~~ interests, so a few months ago I managed to acquire the original Tales, Iron Man, Cap, and Avengers volumes. Now that I've figured out ComicRack enough to sort it all by year, it's going a bit quicker... and in between fits of giggling at the dialogue (oh, lord, the dialogue....) it's been great fun seeing all the little 'moments' these two have had.

You're right, the next issue was hilarious and awesome. I absolutely love the image of Cap on his motorcycle, coming up over gravestones... XD

I'm not sure that this counts as truly slashy, but I wonder if it's not worth putting up there anyway: Tony wasn't the first one to recognize him, but his was the first voice Cap actually heard. (Avengers v.1 #4) It's certainly a nice setup for any number of flashback lines in fic... :)

Oh, nice. :) I just read it last night and laughed the whole way through that conversation.

Would Tony Stark limp and lifeless in his kidnapper's arms and Cap leading the interception squad (http://i972.photobucket.com/albums/ae203/ghostsundermybed/damselindistress.png) count? The other Avengers are there, but Cap's shield in that panel personally made me gleeful <3 (It's in Avengers #69)
Also, the people making this comic apparently have one hell of a kink for Tony Stark limp and lifeless in someone's arms. They're not that different from the Fandom that way.

Unconfortable staring in different directions ensue.

Then more stuff happens, generally bad. And then Tony dyes his hair blond.

I maintain that when he grew in that awful moustache in CW, he should have switched back to this costume as well. Just to complete the image.

The final Steve/Tony scene is definetely a moment. When is this in canon?

Avengers v.1 #197: When Iron Man steps down as team leader, Steve's afraid it's because of him.

New Avengers v.2 #2: The Avengers all thought Cap's "Rick/Bucky thing" was weird, but Tony understood. And can I just say that the Oral History of the Avengers is a brilliant thing? XD

I know you're waiting on Avengers: Prime stuff, but let me just nominate the cover of #2 while I'm thinking about it: In which staring longingly isn't enough for Tony - he can't stop himself from reaching for Steve, too. (This issue? Good lord, the subtext is barely sub. LOL.)

Avengers: The Origin, #5: When Iron Man thinks about the future, Cap's one of the first people he envisions. (Absolutely gorgeous artwork on this mini, btw.)

I'm very slowly making my way through the silver age comics -- is there a particular issue where Cap finds out that Iron Man = Tony Stark? #79 made me wibble, with Tony trying to tell Steve and Steve not letting him.

That would be Avengers Vol1 #215-216. Red thong aside, it wasn't especially slashy. And yes, Steve was in the dark for something like four and a half years comic time.

Can someone tell me how to make single .jps from a .cbr file? There's a cute page of Steve and Tony randomly sparring (in the middle of the hallway!) from issue 3 of the new MA Super Heroes series.

I use the snipping tool on Windows 7.

Failing that, change the suffix from cbr to rar, unpack the file, and you should have all the pages as jpgs
